Today's Tids Issue 5,392
The things we have to do:
So now begins a season hectic
With activities quite eclectic
From parties with exotic wines
To standing long in shopping lines.
Yet for all of us there is inherent
That rising sense of Christmas spirit.
It appears according to new reports that bipartisan CEOs, Hedge funders' and many of USA’s financial leaders are looking to put their money behind Nikki Haley. On the other side of the coin, we have the regular people where the polls are saying America does not want a Trump-Biden rematch. But Trump will say they don’t want Biden and Biden will say they don’t want Trump. So there we are with nothing. Maybe this is that one time in history where a third party can make it.
Sometimes living in our American cocoon, we lose our big picture perspective, feeling that the Earth revolves around us. But here are the statistics that better define our place among 7.8 billion people in the world: 11% are in Europe, 9% are in South America,15% are in Africa, 60% are in Asia and 5% are in North America.
Websters dictionary says the word of the year is “Authentic”. (That means it is the most searched word of the year.) Authentic... If they have to look up authentic, you have to wonder what else the US population doesn’t understand. That is an authentic mystery.
The Question:
Who is Lynn Johnston?

I remember in the mid-fifties that if you could sneak a case of Coor’s beer out of Colorado and bring it back to an eastern college campus it was highly likely you could be elected President of the Student Body.
The New England Patriots look like the worst team in the NFL at many levels. I’ve been following these guys since their nomad days in the beginning, and I never used the word hapless. But I’ll stick with them because that’s what fans do. Extreme uffering now always contributes to enhanced elation in the future.
I'm thinking that the Dem big mahoffs in the back rooms are wondering if their Presidential campaign should be built around videos of the J6 American disgrace. The problem for Dems is that it could add to the intensity of Trump sympathizers. But the other side is that many good Americans just don’t believe that third world country antics is the way forward for the great USA. That we can still vote out socialism.
1975 saw the embryo of our future as a couple of guys named Gates and Allen started a little company named Microsoft. Who then knew? But the bigger news was Communists taking Saigon and South Vietnam Surrendering. Operation “Babylift” brought VN orphans to the US. The war was now over. Inflation was growing and unemployment reached 9.7 %. But the world brightened a little when Margaret Thatcher became the first woman to lead Britain, but it wasn’t so bright for Patty Hearst who went to the top of teh FBI Most Wanted list. It was even worse for Jimmy Hoffa who disappeared off the face of the earth. Maybe that’s what is being kept in Area 52. The Fed was raising interest rates to stop inflation. This was essentially fueling the recession. The Dow which had reached the unheard of 1000 the year before. It tumbled down to 858. The Red Sox was a lovable team who played their hearts out almost beating the mighty Cincinnati in a great Worlds series. I still remember my reaction to Carlton Fisk’s home run. My favorite song of 1975 as John Denver's “Thank God II’m a Country Boy” The other top songs were Love Will Keep Us Together, Rhinestone Cowboy, Philadelphia Freedom, Before the next Teardrop Falls, My Eyes Adored You and One of These Nights. 1975 brought us the cult film sensation Rocky Horror Picture Show, but there were far better films including the blockbuster hit “Jaws”. Others were Dog Day Afternoon, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Shampoo and one of my favorites, Three Days of the Condor. I also liked the Eiger Sanction. You can see where my movie interests drift towards. The Cost of a new car was $4,200 and new House $39,000. Foster Grant sunglasses cost $5.00. I was in the consumer side of advertising now and helped intro the first designer glasses, Oscar Delaurenti for American Optical. Had I only known the trend I was involved in. Another Farmer planted a a lerg summer vegetable operation the land behind me. We became frends and my family enjoyed the wide variety of produce. He didn’t grow any gravy. Why didn't I buy stock in Microsoft?
The new MJ information just out in RI shows that since the introduction of legal recreational marijuana, the sales of Medical, MJ have plunged. Which might say that everybody rushing to medical weed stores were not that sick but just had friendly docs.
I received a cyber-Monday sale announcement for “Gear” from my hospital chain! Say what. Is everything for sale? I don’t wear anybody's gear anyhow much less gear from a hospital. Gear at a cost to the buyer is just another form of advertising for the seller. They should pay wearers. What a crock.
Did Trump casino gear go up in value when his casinos when Bankrupt?
The Answer:
Lyn Johnston is the first woman and first Canadian to win the National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award. You may know her for her excellent daily cartoon series “For better or For Worse”. It is must-read every day for me. It just makes you feel good, and it makes you think too. It’s a real-time series where people, adults and children and children alike go through all phases of growing up. It reached an ending in 2008, but is now in the middle again after having gone back 30 years to its beginning. I read it the first iteration and am back faithful once again... each morning. Thanks, Lynn Johnston and your family for making my days.
I'm going to have to start typing slower and more methodically, so I don’t have to spend so much time editing our mistakes. I know what you are all thinking, “You're editing out mistakes!?”
The first video accompanying a new hit song was released in 1975. It was Queens Bohemian Rhapsody:
