Today's Tids Issue 5,379
Not quite so dire:
I was going to ask who did what to whom. But before they did to each other in last night’s debate, they took it out on the Trumpster with extreme vengeance Nikki must be considered a frontrunner because a couple ganged up on her. She didn't flinch. Several of those who did came out looking the rude fool. I think DeSantis made points and I believe Christie always does but he doesn't connect well with voters. Nikki hung in there under assaults. Tim Scott was livelier, but I expected more from him from the beginning. I personally find Ramaswamy annoying, and his act is becoming tedious. Haley was excellent in her words about the abortion issue. The general consensus is that none of them made gains on Trump but only reshuffled the deck beneath him. Maybe New Hampshire and Iowa will tell us something beneath the polls.
Diana Ross was a supreme singer.
Biden keeps falling in the polls despite giving away the store. Today the President of this nation fighting inflation meets with the head of the Auto unions to tell him what a great job he has done. Biden is the ultimate political hack.
If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free! -- P.J. O'Rourke
The Question:
How do you make a pirate furious? Bonus: Released in May 1967, Sergeant Pepper was a breakthrough, new kind of album for the Beatles. But, in November they put out another big album for 1967. What was it?

People railing at each other is no way to give voters confident that any of them can lead a great country.
It wasn’t a terrible TidsPickers week last Thursday through Monday. 9-5 brings us to 84-51 (62%). Several games came down to the final seconds which seems to be the new normal. This week appears to be odd, a mishmash of games mostly between teams with no hope and a couple that are meaningful and few that are perhaps just interesting. The key games are the Browns and the Ravens, San Fran and Jax, and then perhaps Houston/Cinn with two super QB’s, Tenn-TB, NO-Minn and Detroit City against the surging chargers. Balt and Cleve both feature a couple of agile, cool gunslingers in Watson and Jacckson. I like the Browns, but Baltimore is playing very well now. I think Balt will win in a a great game. San Fran is reeling and Jax has been steady. I'm picking te Niners to stop the slide. Gulp!. Young Burrow and even younger Stroud are filling the airways with record feats. Cincy just has a little too much going on now. But it will be exciting. Tenn and TB are two teams that should be better but can’t seem to get over the hump. I go Titans. Minn played great without Cousins last week. Out of nowhere and off the junk pile came a QB named Dunn and he amazed and got it... done. NO has been tough but Minn is a better team. Detroit versus LAC is a tough choice. Which Detroit shows up? How good is LAC now? I’m betting the good lions show up.
The rest of the games are pretty meaningless. Tonight is about as ugly as two teams can be. I pick da Bears over the Panthers. In Germany the woeful and shorthanded Patriots will beat the woeful and shorthanded Colts. I have to pick Pitt over the Pack, Atlanta over awful Arizona, Dallas over the even more awful NY Giants, Seattle over the somewhat awful Washington, Buffalo over the sometimes-awful Broncs and the awful Jest over awful Raiders.,
There is nothing nicer than a dreary day in November when the tourists have finally gone home.
Protesters come and disrupt and eventually fade away and nothing really ever happens.
The good thing about getting old: You learn what not to pay attention to. Life is better that way. I have noticed while writeing these Tidlets about the years gone by that while the world seems to stand still, hanging by the proverbial thread at times, Life just keeps on moving forward.
In 1967 we continued to see protests and a national pandemic of seething anger, but through it all The Beatles released the Great Sergeant Pepper Band album and South Africa's Dr. Christain Bernard successfully performed the first heart transplant. How great was that. Thurgood Marshall became the first Black Justice and Israel showed the world the power of their military as in six short days they decisively beat back the Arab Forces Invasion in what is now known as the Yom Kipper war. How ironic is it that Jewish friends I knew then were feeling pain, confusion, grief, worry... and finally the elation as Israelis now hope to feel after the pain, confusion, worry and grief. Ralph Nadir made a name for himself, and a lot of people mad with his book condemning Detroit, “Unsafe at any Speed”. The NFL sped up self-interest kicking off 1967 with the First Super Bowl between Kansas City and 35-10 winner Green Bay. Cassius Clay now Mohammed Ali was stripped of his titles after refusing induction into the army. Elvis Married Pricilla. And Twiggy was “It”. People loved “The Graduate” and Mrs; Robinson by S&G. There were several top songs I liked beginning with the top Billboard hit of the year, “To Sir with Love”. Others were “Windy”, “Light My Fire", “Ode to Billy Joe”. “Up, Up and Away”, “Happy Together”, “Ruby Tuesday” and “I can’t take My Eyes off of You”. In addition to The Graduate, we were watching To Sir with Love, Bonnie and Clyde, Barefoot in the Park, Guess who’s Coming to Dinner and Cool Hand Luke. It was good year in my life as my third daughter brought her smile into our home. Now I had a wife, three daughters, a female dog and a herd of cows hanging out by our backyard fence. My life was an udder delight.
From where I am sitting, I seems to me that the home prices are higher because too many people look at homes as an investment, added income ventures tending to offset overpaying, as opposed to just a nice place to live. Regular home sellers love to use investment properties as comps. Bingo price evolution.
I'd be more apt to vote for a president who keeps his mouth shut. If, you get my drift.
Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you! -- Pericles (430 B.C.)
Have you noticed how during the world's so called most dire, darkest moments, great people are still doing great things for humanity.
The Answer:
It is easy – take away the "P” Bonus: Number two album for 1967 was Magical Mystery Tour.
