Today's Tids Issue 5,378
365 More Days:
Well, the Repubs didn’t do that well again. It is always hard to win against exaggerated, paint with the broad-brush fear mongering.
Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana. That's a good old nostalgic one liner for me.
What often makes mediocre movies somewhat watchable is the music.
I noticed as I walked around several neighborhoods this morning that there were a large number of American flags on houses waving in the cool breezes. That's good, I thought.
The Question:
What do you call a laughing motorcycle?
The Headline:
--Stocks Treaded Waiting for Powell in Morning; Turned Negative in PM as Powell Gives nothing to Substantiate Previous Week’s Enthusiasm; Hawkish Fed Presidents call for Caution.
--Bankman-Fried T to Hear His Fate this Afternoon.
--Ivanka Testifying but Showing Signs of Repeated Amnesia.
It’s amazing with everything going on in the world, how little news tee really is to report
I don’t like harping, but the internet was down today again. It just brings Tids Central to a sudden stop. Then I read that banks are having trouble clearing checks because of human induced clearing house internet malfunction. And I’m thinking, how reliant are we all on the internet. Everything's interconnected or stuck in some cloud. How easy would it be to bring everything to a complete halt with devastating results.
Maybe Godot was the Fed Chairman and that’s what that tale is all about.
A smarter than average reader wrote to tell me that the Whitestone Bridge connecting the Bronx NY to Long Island was built using same design as Galloping Gertie. Yikes, I seemed to have lived on that bridge in my youthful naive days. But I'm assured that the Whitestone was reinforced in a way to neutralize torsion flutter.
It is obvious that Spell-Check isn’t into intelligence. Artificial or human. It acts often like a voter.
It just never ceases to amaze me how recently the effective running of the USA is secondary to the needs of abortion enthusiasts. That is a personal decision plain and simple. The government focus should be on making the government whole again by reducing its size and penetration into daily living.
Never trust an atom, they make up everything!
Holy Moo!, Batman, 1966 had the Tidster moving to rural Connecticut living among cows and in a village where the Grange was king, and progress considered hog wash. Contented cows make for contented s citizenry. And contentment was sought in the rest of the world and the US went crowds of protestors went berzerk over the enormous escalation of Viet Nam, now with over 500,000 troops there. The streets were filled with protrsts. But one protest released convicted rapist named Ernesto Arturo Miranda. And we all know the rest of that story. He got off, but was retried and convicted without the original l confession. Ronald Reagan officially became a successful politician by winning the California Governor's seat. A mining slag mountain slid down and buried the townif of Aberfan Wales – Demolishing an elementary school and many houses, killing 144 including 116 children. But, the hovercraft mads its first jaunt across the English Cahnnel (It’s a cool Ride. Creeping up a beach like a giant water bug,) Racial protests were growing larger and so was inflations withe Government scurrying to pay for the war. And a cult for the ages was formed, when Gene Rodenberry brought Startrek to TV. “Holy Trekkie, Batman”. Yes, Batman and Robin were new too and a lot of fun. The Beach Boys put out an album called “Pet Sounds” which was hailed as one of eth greatest of all time. A new Dishwasher a major dream of all families and cost $165 and a Parker Pen set cost $11.95. Can you text with a Parker Pen? Crest Toothpaste was 50 Cents! Outrageous. Late in the year, hearts of Kids and adults swelled a bit when Dr. Suess “Brought to TV, “The Grinch who Stole Christmas.” Holy Whoville, Batman. The antieverything jotters jitters were soothed by Simon and Garfinkle album Sounds of Silence. 66 was a pretty good Tunes year with California Dreaming from the Mamas and the Papas, Last Train to Clarkesville by the unlikely stars, the Monkees, 96 Tears, Reach Out I’ll be There, These boots are Made for Walkin', Good Lovin’ and one of my favorites of the day, “Cherish. You’re My Soul and Inspiration was a big favorite, but one that got to the hearts of a lot of people was, The Ballad of the Green Berets" by Barry Sadler. “The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming”, “Alfie”, “Georgie Girl”, “Sand Pebbles”, “A Man for all Seasons”, “Who’s afraid of Vergina Wolfe” and “The Bible”. Were the big movies of the day. I was an advising exec, a true huckster with big lunches and long hours. But fun all the time. And in moving we met some of our best friends ever, With many memories that will never die.
My grandpa has the heart of the lion and a lifetime ban from the zoo.
The pundits are saying that the reelection Andy Beshear in super red state Kentucky is very significant to the national scene considering how his opponent Daniel Cameron was focused on the negativity of the Biden presidency and low polling numbers in the state. But the fact remains that Beshear is a very likable. It says ot me that people still actually elect people berceuse of their personal capability and solid characteristics. and not simply to adhere to a Media expert’s dream agenda. Oh yeah. Cameron also made a series of last-minute promise rejections when he tacked the worng way on a key abortion issue. We should be electing more people based in a who they are instead of getting lost in identity politics.
So what if I don’t know what apocalypse means? It’s not the end of the world!
The Answer:
You all probably go t this. It’s a Yamahahahahaha!!
Next year is 1967, which is one of those special feeling years. But before we leave 66, here’s a song from the transitional year which at the time I remembered liking quite a bit. Sometimes when you revisit old songs you wonder why.
