Courting:
The Zeppoli bakeries of RI are working overtime these days preparing the scrumptious, creamy pastries consumed for Saint Joseph's Day tomorrow. Some of the bigger bakers will produce up to 70-80 thousand while smaller bakeries are in the 15-20 K range. That is a lot of yumminess. Yes, the Italians world over will follow the Irish day of Yesterday with there own same enthusiasm on March 19. San Giuseppe, prega per noi.
Duh! Putin wins Presidential election in a landslide.
The secret to immortality is being a subscriber on multiple email lists.

Ok, it's Bracket time. I won't waste the week mulling it over. Either you do it or you don’t. Here is my final 8.: UConn, Iowa State, North Carolina and Arizona. No surprises there. On the other side of the bracket, I have Houston, Texas, Perdue and Crieghton. I think It will come down to Perdue and UConn. UConn has the toughest path to the Final four. Houston seems to have the easiest. If they are healthy. I decided to play it straight this year instead of whacky fantasies, but there could be an awful lot of upsets, like perhaps Vermont surprising a sleeping Duke or Yale befuddling Auburn. I watched a fair number of games this year and I saw a sameness among many at many levels.
You really have to wonder how Apple Loyalists will react to Google sneaking into their domain. I mean, Apple lovers are Apple lovers. No worms please.
Last week I mentioned I was worried about where those convictions of the Crumblys might take the courts; how the precedent of that could place more than just gun toting parents in jeopardy. Today I am reading about a legal eruption as legal minds wonder where lawyers might take this. After all, lawyers always look for precedent when developing strategies
Here’s an interesting cultural paradox. Italians in and Irish are generally considered to be predominantly catholic. The two days fir cerebration of their favorite Saints, Saint Patrick and Saint Joseph, are always in Lent. Because of that, the commonly accepted Italian celebratorily meal must be meatless. Yet teh Irish serve Corned beef with a big non-guilty smile on their faces. So, what do the Irish have on the Pope?
Maybe Athletes should have Tommy John Surgery before they begin their careers. A TJ repair seems to last longer than the original parts.
Duh, Part II: There are claims in Russia of voter fraud.
It was surprising that the Big East only had three teams in the big dance considering the three were all in the top Ten in the country at the end of the season. The rest of the league’s teams weren’t given much credit for playing that tough in-league Schedule. The ACC was also down with 5, and only had that many because NC State won it all. The SEC and Big 12 each had 8 and the Big Ten had 6. Lately the Big Ten barely gets out of the first round. Maybe, they buy better lunches for the pickers.
The Answer:
Obviously the three things main dishes eaten to celebrate St Joseph's Day can vary across regions, but a consensus says typically it includes, Minestrone Soup with pasta and breadcrumbs, seafood with fava beans for luck and of course for dessert Zeppoli Or as they are also called, Sfinge de San Giuseppe/
There’s a reason why the pasta comes with breadcrumbs. It is because Saint Joseph was a carpenter, and crumbs represent saw dust.
Here's a little song I found for Saint Joseph’s Day. If anybody out there who knows a lot more about SJ Day than I have some good songs, send them in. I’ll put one up tomorrow. Happy Sait Patrick's Day, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y.
