Today's Tids Issue 5,883
Or not:
Happy Labor Day Everybody. Hope you’re all resting well after spending a weekend seeking the thrills holidays are supposed to deliver. But though it is the official end of summer, we all know life goes o nas always despite these structured interruptions. I felt a little curmudgity this morning.
If only God had taught rabbits to eat crab grass, what a lovely, harmonious balance of nature we would have — plump bunnies and bright, colorful flowers happily living together.
I don't care what romaine lettuce lovers say, Iceberg lettuce is just plain better.
In case you missed it, we are in September today, and the first two weeks of this often-calming month will tell us a lot about the direction of the major stock markets for the rest of the year. It is a much a part of this month as pumpkin spice and the first signs of of sales for early Christmas shopping. But aside from reality, it’s a beautiful time to be alive. With cooling nights and comfortable days and mums aglow wherever we go. Yet with everything wonderful delighting our senses we must always stop to remember the horror September 11. It is a day that should never recede into cloudy memories. It should always be a vivid warning against slipping into complacency. And most of all it is day of remembering beautiful lives lost to the hatred of terror. So as the Fall flowers bloom anew, we will always hear that bell tolling slowly.
The Question:
Where were the three known attacks and how many innocents died that frightful morning of September 11.
The Headlines:
--Shallow Magnitude 6 Earthquake in Afghanistan Kills at Least 800; Earth Shaking was in Nangarhar and Kunar Provinces.
--Markets Closed Today; End of DeMinimis has Consumers seeing Orders Cancelled.
--US Homeowners Tapping into Home Equities in ReFi Moves to Cash Out and Primarily Pay off debts.
--New Trump China Chip Actions Crippling South Korea Semiconductor Production; Samsung and SK Hydix Stocks Dropping; Two Companies Compete with Micron to make Key Components for Apple Phones and NVidia AI Servers.
This morning after reading that India and China have become happy collaborating pals, I find that OPen AI backed by Microsoft has just become a legal entity in India. In fact the rumor mill has it on good authority that the company plans to build a huge data center there. Actually, US companies of all types employ data workers in India. So I suspect there will be a lot more to learn as the India saga moves forward.
The headlines of major newspapers Didital news outlets made Trump out to look petty after dismissing Kamala’s Secret Service protection. But in reality, he gave her two months extra protection over the six months allotted by law for ex VP’s. (This is according to the 2008 “Former VP Protection Act). So basically DT is all about graciousness and kindness.
My guess is that that Apple execs are running around like the preverbial chicken to establish AI credibility/
Speaking of anxiousness, do you think the Bama alums are calling for a new coach after one game and an embarrassing loss? Where’s Nick.
I always thought conductor George Szell had a way of making a good symphony unexciting.
This year the Colleges spent $1.9 Billion on amateur football salaries. Next year it will be $2.6B. The toothpaste is out of the tube.
Why would anybody ever believe the ever-bitter Rosie O’Donnell about anything?
The Red Sox seem to have gone into the Pittsburgh series thinking they just had to put on their uniforms to win against the lowly Pirates. They awry dead wrong. Or maybe they aren't as good as the lowly Pirates.
Do you think that a lot of people who opted for the popular “open Concept” house plan are wishing now they had one nice place with four walls to get away from it all.?
I usually stumble out of bed around five AM on Mondays to get ready for early golf. But today I slept in so I am enjoying a holiday after all.
My idea of a good holiday excursion is going to a Supermarket and trying find ways to save money.
From my point of view outside the inside loop is that I see the tariff situation as more confusing than ever. The economic premise for them was misinterpreted and basically, many seem to be based on whims. In case you forgot, I didn't like the idea of tariffs interrupting free market, free trade thinking way back when hrump first posed the idea, and I haven't seen anything to make me change.
I think you can see with the hodge-podge development of multiple steaming outlets and with I expect more to come, we will soon enter an era of rapid consolidation. And according to various experts, big tech will be owning it all someday.
The Answer:
I remember exactly where I was that day. What I was listening to on the radio and how I ran into another room to watch TV. How I drove up to Maine and all along Route One in just hours after the tragedy signs were everywhere to be seen saying “God Bless American”; Waving flags were all I could see. 2,977 innocents died and thousands more were injured. The most deaths were at the Tein Tower sin NYC. The second big assault was at the Pentagon. A third plane was heroically stopped by real people over Somerset County PA before it could reach its intended target
Since this morning's mess wasn't funny, I thought I'd end with a nice Bee Gees song in honor of Barry Gibbs birthday.
