The Chinese stocks went bonkers yesterday when a leading chip maker there announce a new line up of products faster than NVidia. Yes, Huawei unveiled its new Ascend AI Chip and Atlas Super PoD Clusters to compensate for restrictions on NVidia imports. With it they produced a road map for a glorious future which was quite astonishing and gave some observers a pause – I’ll beleiv it when I see it. Too good to be true? A ploy ahead of the Trump-Xi meet.

There aren’t many big-time college football games this weekend unless you are into Utah versus Texas Tech. Oklahoma-Auburn and Michigan-Nebraska are other top 25 games, but they don't titillate me.

Department Stores are disappearing, but Nordstrom is planning to open 12 new stores this year now that the Nordstrom family has bought back the company and assumed 50.1 majority ownership over the 49.9% of buyout partner Mexican Department store El Puerto de Liverpool. Let's fac it, regardless of the efficiency of Amazon and the Internet sources, people still like to spend a lot of time browsing the floors of real stores. And Nordstrom probably knows how to make that effort as rewarding as anybody.
