The darkness.

Today's Tids Issue 5.891

The Tolling:

On this 911 the murder of Charlie Kirk can only remind us that evil never dies. It is a virus for which there is no cure. No vaccines. It is bred in the heart of hatred. And we can only be continually alert, and feet the anguish of those left behind with innocents die. I’ll never forget the crumbling In Wall Street on 911 2001. And now Ill remember the life of Charlie Kirk cut short,

As the bells toll on Wall Street, the consumer inflation gage comes in on the wrong side of positive. In addition, the Jobless Claims surged. The investment community is betwixt and between because their most ardent desire in the of face opposing evidence is a rate cut next week. Yes, you can still see the optimism holding as the odds weaken. But that is Wall Street.

I stood there this morning watering new plantings and my head was awhirl, conflicting with the peace of my surroundings with the constant turmoil afar.

The Question:

Name five movie stars who made big comebacks on TV.

The Headlines:

--Dow Surging Despite Soaring Jobless Calins and Higher inflation Numbers.

--Suspect in Kirk Shooting still at Large; FBI Says they have Good Security Footage with Facial Images Tracing Journey of Shooter; Rifle Found; Two Other Persons of Interest Released in Case.

--VP Vance cancels 911 Memorial Service Trip to Instead Visit Kirks Family

--Peter Mandelson, UK Ambassador to Us, Sacked by Starme After Revelation of emails Between him and Epstein.

--Denver HS Student Shoots Two Fellow Students Then Kills Self; One Student still critical while the Other is Stable

Well, Tidspickin’ goes on. We were 11-5 last week and I admit the Miami pick was a dumb one from the start. There are some very good matchups this week beginning tonight with Green Bay and Washington. Other tough picks are Cincy-Jax, Detroit-Chicago, Denver-Indy, Minn-Atlanta and Houston-TB. You might throw in Pitt and Seattle and the beloved Pats versus Miami. Yes, last week's effort left plenty wanting in both. Ok, time to pick. I vacillated on this one, GB/Wash. But I realized that GB had put a very good team together before Parsons showed up. Washington is good and will be a stern foe, but I go Pack. Trevor Lawrence was a Heisman runner-up and Joe Burrow won it and they face each other Sunday. Jax is finding itself and Cincy lost something along the way. I'll pick the upset this week and go Jax. The Lions and Bears O My, a great rivalry. Detroit has been way on top lately, but things changed this year. Minn killed my Chi pick last week, but I’ll go back to the well. Denver should win but Indy showed me something last week, albeit against Miamai. I'll go Denver. Minns Rookie QB McCarthy woke up late last week so maybe thats what he needed to start fast this week. Atlanta plays tough and I like this game. But I'm going with the Vikes. Houston was a darling two years ago. TB is resourceful and Baker Mayfield is looking like a winner. I'll take the Bucs in a game that can go either way.

Of the rest, we start with Buffalo and Josh who said to the Buffalo fans, Don't leave us when we are down, we never f=give up. The Bills will take care of the Jets. I like Baltimore to be mad and take it out on the Browns. The Giants are getting decent NYC Press, but Dallas looked btetr to me last week than I thought. Cowboys win it. I like I like the Niners over the Saints, LA Rams over Tennessee Arizona over Carolina and the Chargers over Las Vegas. They are too good even against cheerleader Pete. The Steelers-Seattle game will be a poser. The Sea Hawks are struggling to find themselves, and I never go against the Steelers in close game. And alas the Pats and the Dolphins... This has been a great rivalry over the years. This should be one of the Pats wins this w year, but Miami is too fast for the Pats DBs. The Pats haven’t shown me much, so I go Miami. And hope like hell that I’m wrong.

Did you know that today is the 84th anniversary of the day they began building the Pentagon. Yes, it was 60 years after the first shovels started digging that the terrorist plane flew into side of the building

Larry Elison became the wealthiest man in the world yesterday for a moment or two but Musk ended the day on top again. Elison and Oracle just keep on going. They don’t create headlines or go into political situations, Larry and crew just make good business decisions and run the company well.

BTW, Elison has been working on hos Newport RI mansion ofr over five years now creating a nice annuity for his architect. Locals are saying now with the wealth spurt he can fly in a few more giant boulders for his rock garden.

The Immigration people have to think before they act. South Korea is a great ally of ours and is investing a lot of money  ine the US. But we rounded up about 500 and put it shackles nearly 300 SK citizen workers who were here Legally on ESTA or B1 Visas with very specific work descriptions attached. These visa holders are “legally allowed to enter to repair, install, Service or train on Industrial equipment or machinery purchased from outside the US.” Foreign companies investing in new US facilities have been Ddoing this for decades. Let’s get smart. (Oddly, in this raid the ICE agents only had a warrant to arrest 4 Hispanics.)

While the White House rhetoric in the Kirk case is a little over the top as usual, the national media was trying to minimize the idea that this was a politically motivated shooting. It was pretty clear to me it was considering the planning and execution that somebody wanted a right-wing activist dead.

The political pendulum has been swinging wide for centuries in the USA. What it says to me is that when it reaches afar to one of the extremes people prefer to push it back to the middle.

I can’t remember a calmer, cooler August and September in decades. Do you think the global warmers hate the weather casters saying, “cooler than average.” That is not to say we aren't in a cyclical climatic change.

Did you know that in 1942 during WWII a Japanese Yokoshuka E14Y Seaplane was launched from a submarine off Oregon to carry incendiary bombs to detonate and start a forest fire near Brookings Oregon. The idea was to create panic among Americans in WWII. The pilot was Nobuo Fajita. He made two runs. The mission failed because forests were unseasonable wet. Ah, climate change saved us. Interesting.

The Answer:

Number on is Wynona Ryder in Stranger Things. She is followed by Steve Martin, Kevin Costner, Rob Lowe, Robin Wright, Jessica Lange, Chris O’Donnell, Alec Baldwin, Clare Danes and number 10, Christain Slater. Charlie Sheen got back with Spin City. And Burt Reynolds, and Holly Hunter were also relaunched on TV. Now you are probably wondering exactly which shows gave them the fresh new look. Maybe if you are good, I’ll tell you tomorrow. If I remember.

This is a solemn day made more so by the murder of Charlei Kirk. And though it may be political, it is really always about those who loved him left behind

Never forget.
