Today's Tids Issue 2,185
Opening Stuff:
This Arizona thing just has to get to the Supreme Court. The feds have been giving lip service to those concerned about law breaking immigrants. Allowing groups of enablers to paint the concerned as racists. The media has allowed the agendized to demagogue the issue without a mere shrug of disbelief. Will the country ever return to reality?
If I were the ABA, I’d start looking seriously at some of the creative defenses being used by the brethren in the courtrooms. For instance, the Blago team used the “Stupid” defense – Our client was not smart enough to know what he was doing. Yikes. And then down in Louisville at the Pitino Sex/Extortion show, the prosecution is using a combo of “The devil made me do it” and the famous Clinton “I didn’t inhale” maneuver. The “:Coach” said yeah, I had sex but “very briefly”! (But, did you have fun Rick!) Of course down on the US border states slews of lawyers have convinced themselves that criminal acts are good. And so it goes. Law has become a way to get around good ole’ common sense…and for that matter…law.

What will the people do when they get bored with YouTube?
Why should we in The US be happy that the President Of Mexico is applauding the legal decision on the Arizona law. It just shows how much he wants to get rid of his people.
I guess “Prime Time” doesn’t buy into “On my honor to do the best / To do my duty to God and country and to obey scout law / To help pother people at all times; / To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.” That’s the Scout motto the President missed by skipping off to The View and a NYC fundraiser. It isn’t that other Presidents have not shown to talk to the kids, but this was the 100th Anniversary of a great American organization. The View! Whoopie-to-do.
Let’s get the “Inherited” deficit right Department:
(Note: If the accompanying chart doiesn't show here, write and I'll send it along.)
Just to put all of this “Inherited” deficit talk into perspective, the Democrat Congress of Pelosi and Reid (Obama was a member and a voter for the big upward ticks in spending) started the shoppaholic spree in 2008. Check out the chart above. (Interesting how the deficit appears to be descending right around the time of 0’s 2012 election! That’s due to the Health Care monster slight of hand as designed by the, yes, Democrat Congress)
One of our brilliant readers tells us that: “There is only one job more dangerous than lighting the fuse. Going back to relight it…”
Thought the Same Eyes: Chapter 86. –I have never done a better job of acting than those 10 steps towards Kent. My kiss on the cheek was practically biblical. But, then when I felt his cheek against my lips I felt what I always have felt. I steeled myself against emotion and moved to the seat opposite him. Though I knew that in a moment I would feel his foot against my leg. I sat there in erotic anticipation. I always do when I’m with him. Even now when I am supposed to be skeptical. Even now when he seems to be having concerns about me. He has always thought like me and I him. My heart was beating faster.
“It is so nice to see you Kent. It seems like months. So much has happened in the past several days.” He just sat there and looked at me like he was in love. He didn’t have to touch me. I could feel him from my memories. I shuddered.
“I agree.” Marie arrived with the pie that Kent had ordered and my coffee which he must have ordered for me. I looked at him in feigned surprise…and appreciation. But, that’s all he said.
We decided that it would not be good to hide my visits to Henry. Kent liked Henry. “The police are still concerned about the disappearance of your house cleaner, Laura.” His expression changed slightly.
“ I haven’t seen her since two days before she went missing.” He said mechanically. “I’d rather talk about you. Us.” He smiled, boyishly. “Maybe I should give up my work and run a way with you.”
An Internet feature yesterday listed America’s Ten Top Secluded beaches. They won’t be secluded any more.
The Answer:
1. “This is a good time to invest in the stock market.” 2. “Stocks on average make you about 10%.” 3. “Our economists are forecasting…” 4. “Investing in the stock market allows you to participate in the growth of the economy.” 5. “If you want higher returns, you have to take more risk.” 6. “The market’s really cheaper now; The P/E is about 13.” 7. “You can’t time the market.” 8. “We recommend a diversified portfolio of Mutual Funds.” 9. “This is a stock picker’s market.” And 10. “Stocks outperform over the long term.”
Eliminate risk. Vote out incumbents in 2010.

The subversion of common sense.
Today's Tids Issue 2,181
Opening Stuff:
The good thing about the upcoming elections is that Congress will probably start passing less costly bills. The bad thing is that we know they do it grudgingly and don’t believe a word of what they are saying and can hardly wait for November 3 after they are re-elected and can start spending again. This is not a time to be lulled.
Unfortunately, retirement today means that it is your investments that stopped working.
Meanwhile down in Arizona, Clinton appointee US District Judge Susan Bolton asked the Obama Justice Department lawyer Edwin Kneedler, “Why can’t Arizona be as inhospitable as they wish to people who have entered the US illegally?” That sums it up nicely for me.
And…How about the name “Kneedler” for an annoying federal prosecutor.
The Question: In a short Period of time Phillip Seymour Hoffman established himself as one of the better actors for a variety of complex roles. Name five of his best movies.
The Headlines:
--Congress Extends Jobless Benefits.
--“Bonnie” Halts Work On Oil Spill.
--Ford Continues To Post Strong Profits; Pays Down More Debt Without Government Assistance.
--Rangle To Face Congressional Trial On Ethics Charges.
--India Company Introduces $35 Version Of iPad; Device Expected To be Available In 2011.
--US Confronts North Korea Over Ship Sinking.
--Senate Forces House To Pass Afghan Funding Bill Minus $20 Billion In Domestic Spending!

In fact Trinity is akin to Wren’s St. James at Piccadilly in London. He also did the Old Colony House and many fine Georgian homes still standing in the City.
I’ve been watching America’s Got Talent” and I have just one question – When do they start bringing out the talent?
The big local news is that Government regulators have stepped back from their plan to ban lobsterin’! It’s a huge relief for the local fishing industry, which steadfastly maintained that the Government reports of the death of the lobster population were greatly exaggerated. So, for the time being, a reprieve. I say time being because the power hungry little people in the environmental regulation business don’t like to be called wrong. And they are probably working already to get even. Hard working fisherman be damned. For one thing in life is for certain – Builders got to build; developers got to develop; regulators go to regulate. And iron clad facts and logic never stops them.
This an important day for sports fans and NFL fans in particular. You may not have known that up until this morning no first round draft pick had been signed. It all had to do with uncertainties about a new NFL contract and possible lockouts and strikes. But last night the Dallas 1st rounder Dez Bryant signed. This will signal other agents to release the apron strings and get their guys under contract for a good training season. Let’s hope.
Isn’t it interesting that “u” is the difference between a guy and a gay
Two women were out for a Saturday stroll.. One had a Doberman and the other, a Chihuahua. As they walked down the street, the one with the Doberman Said to her friend, "Let's go over to that bar for a drink." The lady with the Chihuahua said, "We can't go in there. we've got dogs with us." The one with the Doberman said, "Just watch, and do as I do." They walked over to the bar and the one with the Doberman put On a pair of dark glasses and started to walk in. The bouncer at the door said, "Sorry, lady, no pets allowed." The woman with the Doberman said, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog." The bouncer said, "A Doberman?" The woman said, "Yes, they're using them now. They're very good." The bouncer said, "OK, come on in." The lady with the Chihuahua thought that convincing him that a Chihuahua was a seeing-eye dog may be a bit more difficult, but thought, "What the heck," so she put on her dark glasses and started to walk in. Once again the bouncer said, "Sorry, lady, no pets allowed." The woman said, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog." The bouncer said, "A Chihuahua?" The woman with the Chihuahua said, "A Chihuahua? They gave me a freaking Chihuahua?!"
I could never make it as a screen writer. I just couldn’t bring myself to a continuous cacophony of “F” words.

--Salt is a Angelina Jolie spy thriller, and typically right up my alley. It’s the type of film I go to despite the favorability of reviews. This one has everything I like – intelligence, hopelessness and tension. Jolie a loyal CIA agent is accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. She goes on the run using her covert operative skills to protect her husband and stay one jump ahead of her “friends” at the agency. I’m hooked. It may not be great for people who like excellent movies.
--The critics love Ramona and Beezus, film about the humorous exploits of two children, sisters caught up in the family madness of today’s times – Family layoffs, foreclosures and small family tragedies. They say it is funny and heartwarming. What kind of name is Beezus?
47% of all movie ticket buyers earn over $75K. 12% earn less than $25K. 19% earn between $50 and $74 and 22% between $25 and $49. The way prices are going up, it may take a 100K to enjoy a movie.
Through the same Eyes: Chapter 84 continues. –Isabelle hung up from her necessary evil security expert and immediately dialed the extension for Sally Orstein. “Hi Sally, Izzy, here,” she said comfortably. Before Sally could answer, she added, “Please come up to my office.” Sally was mumbling something when the CEO placed the phone back in the cradle. She stood up, walked to her door and signaled Kent to join her in the office.
Within moments after Kent had seated himself to her left and before Isabelle could tell him what she was doing, Sally Orstein walked in. “You look nice this morning,” Izzy said pleasantly.
“Thanks,” came the immediate reply as Sally eased into one of her gigantic smiles. Kent said nothing which was not unusual. But it was obvious that he was wondering why he was there and what was going on.
Isabelle didn’t waste time. “It’s crunch time around here, Sally. With the merger of the Bromsky/Middleton groups we have to think about efficiencies.”
Sally was quick to interrupt. “I have been thinking of ways to use all of the people in our,” she nodded towards Kent, “Program. There are many great people coming over from the Bromsky crew. And…” Isabelle raised a halting hand and Sally stopped in mid sentence.”
“I know there are many good people from the Bromsky group. I’m sad to say that one is going to replace you, Sally.” Kent Middleton’s jaw tightened.
Sally’s head turned quickly towards her boss, “Kent?”

He also was in The Savages, Synecdoche, Boogie Nights, The Big Labowski, Magnolia, Almost Famous, 15th Hour, Punch Drunk Love, Cold Mountain and Pirate Radio. You probably have other favorites. Today's Tids Issue 2,158
Opening Stuff:
I’m keeping this Tids light this morning as I realize that many of you will be facing depression as the days get shorter starting today. It won’t be long until you are shoving leaves into big paper bags to keep our friendly environmentalists happy. You won’t be able to leave the office early and sneak in nine holes. Your heating bills will rise. Today is not a pretty day.
You begin to understand why American students score so low on global math tests when you realize that the Big 12 has 10 teams and the Big 10 has 12 teams.
When a Frenchman drops the “F-Bomb” on TV, does he say pardon my American?
The Question:
Judy Garland -- a young girl who captivated young boys hearts; a woman who always made adults hearts pound as she belt out songs through alcoholic hazes – died forty one years ago today. Name her five greatest hits.
The Headlines:
--McChrystal Summoned To White House (See Below).

--Times Square Bomber Promises More Attacks On Americans.
--White House Budget Chief Peter Orszag Stepping Down; First Of 0-Man Staff To Resign.
--New British Budget Makes Most Drastic Cuts In History To Public Spending

The more you learn about Elena Kagan, the more you realize that she is just a well educated, smart politician.
Are the people who give financial advice on TV and radio business shows our smartest and brightest, or just those with the biggest egos?
Blue Balls in Italy Department:
Ouch! That’s right; an epidemic of Blue Balls has Italians seeing red! And frustrated too. You see, those pearly while little balls of Mozzarella are turning blue and leaving gastronomes frustrated. It’s a sad tale. What did you think I was talking about?
It is without question that the professional sports leagues have contributed mightily to what is becoming the worst dressed generation in history. Cavemen in skins looked better than today’s sports garbed masses. And I’ll throw in medieval paupers in gunny sacks too. It’s ugly out there.
Sliders are …well…sliders. But White Castle’s are a gourmet treasure.
General McChrystal, an Obama voter, became quite disillusioned when finding during his first meeting at the White House that the Prez was totally unprepared. Writers of a new story in Rolling Stone saw while traveling with the General’s aides, constant mocking of Biden and the unctious Richard Holbrook. McChrystal looks at the Obama assigned Ambassador Karl Elkenbury as a self serving traitor to his campaign. McChrystal has thus taken control of the action by “never taking his eye off the real enemy, ‘The wimps in the White House’.”
And now we find that Prime Time has committed the biggest single error of all. In an effort to quell the wavering of the Aghans and soothe the troops, he sent in Holbrook wearing a Ya, Ya, Ya…Well You Know Who I Mean…Cap! Gadzooks! How unthinking is that. The symbol of American luxury and pamperization in the poor, rocky lands of Afghanistan. A Ya, Ya, Ya…Cap. Will it ever end?
As far as I’m concerned, if you like the food, it’s gourmet.
I used to watch on the TV news chaotic street mobs in South American and Middle Cast countries and thinking thank God that doesn’t happen here. But this weekend I see thugs burning cars in Los Angeles and read of 51 shootings in two days in Chicago. And wonder are we becoming them? And it is not a happy thought. Then I realize that this uptick in insanity coincides with the rise in popularity of Soccer.
Through the Same Eyes: Chapter 79 Continues: A pause. Maybe a little longer than normal. Or maybe I was looking too hard for inconsistencies.
“Oh, Henry,” She started. “I was there yesterday afternoon. I was driving home…” She looked relaxed. But then I know she can compartmentalize her emotions. “…and I just had this urge to see what was happening with our caper.” She interrupted herself. “Did you know that cleaning woman Laura was missing?”
“No, I didn’t,” I said hurriedly. Too fast. “What I meant is not before Henry mentioned it yesterday.” Now it was me who was off balance.
“How often did she take care of your house? Did she have a lot of other customers?” She said seriously. And then she smiled broadly. “Jeez, I sound like a persecutor, don’t I!” Then she laughed again. Louder this time. And I couldn’t help laughing along with her. I started to feel comfortable, and moved my foot up her leg. Her eyes bore into mine. But, there was something different.
She blurted, “I can’t be with you like I was.” Her eyelids dropped. And I saw a little tear form. She looked up. “You know I want to. I want to jump across this table right now and bring you to a place you have never been.”
I was at a loss for words. I felt my groin warm. I couldn’t talk.
“Kent, you know I have loved you. I have been addicted to your mind, your touch, the explosion of your body.” I thought she was going to break down. “I can’t handle it any more. When I look into the innocence in my children’s eyes, I can no longer tell a lie.”
I couldn’t talk. Marie was looking at us. She knows. We aren’t that good.
The Admin criticizes the Arizona Law on the basis that only the federal government is allowed to regulate and control immigration. But that is exactly where they are wrong. This isn’t an immigration issue at all. This is an illegal declaration of war on our southern borders. With criminal combatants storming the fences to raid the treasuries of our safety net institutions.
I finally figured out why the pitchers are so dominant this year – three* perfect games in two months. The batters are no longer juicing! I wonder if the Orange Growers Association knows this.
The Answer:
First and foremost has to be “Somewhere over a Rainbow”. Then my mind recalls, Easter Parade, The Trolley Song, For Me and My gal, and When you wore a Tulip. And I always enjoyed Look for the Silver Lining, Johnny One Note and Get Happy. There was always that conflict – watching and worrying about her while she sang with all of the fiber in her increasingly frail body to make you happy.
Thought for the Day:
In 1910, French writer and statesman Alexis De Tocqueville said: “the American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”
Kind of makes you want to go back and se what else he said, doesn’t it?

Today's Tids Issue 2,135
Opening Stuff:
America is doomed unless we can rid our lexicon of the words “misspeak” or “misspoke”. These popular crutches for politicians are not just overused, they are implausible in the context of which they are most often used. Politicians never misspeak. But they always try to manipulate by stretching the truth or disguising it. They only “Misspeak” when a third party discovers and points out the manipulation.
Did you hear about the patrolman who called his flat feet his arch enemy?
Is it me, or is Justin Bieber just another average talent well promoted. Or is just the fact that I’m not 13 any more? I don’t get the excitement.
And how about that president of Mexico lashing out against the Arizona law. A law of US citizens. How about this for an idea Mr. Calderon…Fix your Freaking country and the people will stay there! How simple is that. Or, do you like the idea of using the US of A has your country’s welfare system. Every time a creep like Calderon opens his mouth, I want to walk down to Arizona and shake somebody’s hand.
An even better idea, Mr. Calderon, is how about we take over Mexico. Hell we have already paid for it! First thing we do is send in drones to wipe our drug fortresses in the country. We can do that because our law enforcement and military haven't been paid off...yet. We will also introduce English to Mexican schools to help all assimilate into the new expanded country. And of course for a few extra trillion we can easily fot evryone there into our new Health Care LallaPelosi.

While we’re on media, you can get an entirely different view of what is and what is not important between reports on TV versus the paper. And it all depends on whether or not there is a dramatic visual opportunity.
And, how about all of those frenetic tar ball reporters who are now learning that those well publicized blobs have nothing to do with the oil spill but are just something that occur naturally. (I remember tar adorned ankles from boyhood days on Cape Cod …in the 40’s!) Until the real truth came out, I was looking for an Al Gore backed, Michael Moore Directed film – “Uncle Remus meets the Tar Ball.” “Gotta an oil soaked bluebird on my shoulder…” It ok to hum Zippity Doo Dah for the rest of the day.
Do you ever get the feeling that in about twenty years the country will be overrun with filmmakers. And surprisingly this group could become more of a societal annoyance than the current over abundance of lawyers. As one, young aspiring filmmaker said the other day. “With a film, you can even penetrate the mind of a dunce.” (See Al Gore and Michael Moore).
And, speaking of a fast trip to a mental institution, try reading an essay on Matter versus Anti-matter. Aaaaaaarrrrrrgh!
My golf game has gotten so bad that most observers can’t even see potential in my swing any more.
The diet book made the NYT’s Best seller list because it was easy to digest.
Anybody want to put up some seed money for my new Reality Show for the Times idea? How about a show that recreates the daily adventures of Peace Corp workers? Where they are helpful to the disadvantaged. How they solve mysteries. How they use courage on a daily basis. I’m not looking at maudlin peace with a musical back ground from Simon and Garfunkle or Joan Baez. I’m talking grit and harrowing experiences. I’m serious. It could be a winner and 0-Man would endorse it in a flash.

The now jailbird Phil Spector discovered duo has had plenty of memorable hits. One you can always hear me singing and enjoying is of course “I got you Babe.” This classic was out just after “Baby don’t Go” hit the top of the charts. Also there is The Beat Goes On, Little Man, All I Ever need is You, A Cowboy’s Work is Never Done, Without You and United We Stand. Cher singles of note included “Bang, Bang” and the “Theme From Alphie”.
The End:
Tomorrow we start a new chapter for Through the Same Eyes. This time we’ll be in Middleton’s mind as he also starts to see some leaks in his scheme. Some tomes I get so excited about this, I have to take a day off.
It the meantime I’m boycotting Mexican restaurants. Which frankly won’t be hard at all, as that mush is for sure the most overrated food of our times.

Go Arizona, go.
Today's Tids Issue 2,130
Opening Stuff:
I think it is important every once in a while to tell a person, friend, lover, hero, child, relative the truth about his or her greatness. And almost always a truly honest and giving person will be embarrassed by it.
Watching illegals clamor for benefits that rightfully should never be the reward for a criminal act, I am reminded of this old riddle: What do you call cheese that isn’t yours? “Nacho Cheese”.
I’ll tell you what is scary…After last weeks stock market unexplained meltdown, you just gotta know that somewhere there is some hacker trying to figure out how to duplicate or even expand on the flaw. And just hope it is a person in a Pakistan cave.
The Question:
When the rather dull, insecure appearing Gordon Brown took the reins from the robust Tony Blair, something about the aura of the long list of memorable British PM’s was lost. Has the country lost its power and esteem, or was Brown one of those interim glitches waiting for the emergence of a bright and youthful David Cameron. (So, you’re probably thinking, “Get on with the question stupid Tids guy”). Name five of the greatest, almost legendary British Prime Ministers.
The Headlines:
--LA Ok’s Boycott of Brave Arizonian’s.
--CVS CEO, Chairman Ryan Steps Down In Surprise Move.
--Thai Red Shirt Security Head Shot In Head; Act Unifies Red Shirt Protests.
--Stocks Fall In Early Trading; New Unemployment Claims At 444,000; New Number Shows Miniscule Drop.
--NY AG Andrew Cuomo Investigating Goldman, Morgan-Stanley, UBS, Citi, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Credit Agricole, Merrill Lynch; Looking At Bankers Influence Over Credit Rating Agencies.
--Beleaguered Portugal To Announce “Fiscal Shock” Program; Higher Taxes And Drastic Salary Cuts Hope To Speed Up Deficit Reduction.
--Neil Armstrong And Eugene Cernan Disturbed By 0-Man’s Space Policies; Former Moonwalkers Say Prez Plan Adrift.
--Euro Losing Again After Small Bounce From $1 Trillion Infusion.
--Offshore Natural Gas Platform Off Venezuela Sinks.
--Bruins Blow It again; Celts Go For Series Win Tonight; Pressure On King James.

I’m not surprised that Michael Lynch got the boot last night. But, I think Big Mike got better throughout and will have a fine career. Honestly, I wasn’t too sold on him when the top 24 was announced. But, I grew to like him and enjoyed his singing. So now we have three. Destiny’s darlings BoSox and Lee and the very smooth Casey. Casey has the kind of personality that could lead to an ouster of the more somber Lee. I guess it all boils down to what songs they pick for next week.
Remember Big Mike that Chris Daughtry, who sang last night and is one of the more successful AI-ers from recent shows, came in fourth too.
Through the Same eyes: Chapter 72. –I watched Kent leave. An unusually tense Paul stepped aside and I saw his eyes follow Kent’s every step. Kent looked supremely confident even as he passed the normally happy, now severe Paul Durham, my husband.
I was slowing coming down from Kent’s touch. A mere touch. A brief touch. A touch that made me shiver ever so slightly. But changed the entire mood of my mind. I looked up again at Paul. I didn’t feel confident. As Kent disappeared, he slowly, incredibly slowly turned his head towards me. He didn’t look angry. He looked quizzical. Like his mind was telling him something wasn’t right, but his love for me would allow him to explore it fully.
“I’ve been waiting for you Paul,” I started mustering every bit of shallow confidence I could. “I need…wanted you to be here for this discussion.” I still felt the touch of Kent upon my neck. I shivered slightly again. I turned to Sally the observer. I could tell she saw something in this brief drama. Women know.
“So, what is going on?” he said casually. A double entendre if I ever heard one. “Had a good productive session with your guys Sally. We are moving well towards upgrading our technology to meet the greater demands of the new data.” Then he turned to look at me. “Mind if I drag chair up here.” Now Paul looked to be in charge. Before he sat, he bent and kissed me on the lips. I still felt the touch of Kent.
Yesterday I was told of an engagement of the daughter of a friend of mine to a pretty well known radio personality. While knowledgeable, I always felt that the guy in his early public years was annoying and basically averse to the functioning of a civilized society. In other words he had all of the characteristics of an out of control fraternity boy animal. I have noticed him changing over the years, with a little less gravy on his rumpled shirts than in the past. The person who told me of this wonderful event said the guy was the “nicest person she ever met” and had one of those genuine hearts of gold. The moral of this story: Reserve judgment until you really know.
I’m really starting to like this Governor of Arizona.
And in case you missed it among the news reports of the sign carrying, rampaging aggrieved and their ill informed hysterical supporters, 61% of all US citizens agree with the Arizona law. (^64% of voters.)
I guess a $1 Trillion doesn’t go as far as it used to.
A guy named John McConnell seems to be running into some trouble in his bid to be approved for a Federal Judgeship. The US Chamber of Commerce has taken the extraornary step of calling for the out and out rejection of the aspirant. You see, McConnell is one of those big time class action suit lawyers. You know the kind that have the ability to latch on to “Too big to be ignored” mass events. The kind that play so well with those who have been led to believe that “If it is big it must be bad”. This guy looks like the last person in the world that should be considered for a judgeship. That is if you want fairness in the courts.
The Answer:
Familiar names abound in the long list beginning in 1721. The First Lord Walpole has a town in Massachusetts named after him (Home of largest Max prison.) There are the Pelhams that eventually produced RI’s Senator Claiborne Pell and his cousin Liz Claiborne. William Pitt and sons are famous names as is Pittsburgh. George Grenville gave us the Stamp Act which led to the first “Tea Party”. Augustus FitzRoy tried to make peace with the colonies while his successor Frederick North blundered into the Revolutionary War. William Wyndham Grenville abolished slavery in 1806 and Spencer Percival, a madman, was assassinated. Arthur Wellesly gave them the Catholic Emancipation Bill. Then we had have the legendary names -- Benjamin Disraeli, William Gladstone, David Lloyd George (Women vote; Irish Free State), Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill, Clement Atlee, Harold Wilson (Liberal reforms) and Margaret Thatcher (the first Woman).
Thanks God it's Over:
If the Tids appear late this morning it’s because I got too interested in the British PMs. But, when you read the list you find yourself reading about the history of the world for the past 300 years.
I’m getting real tired of looking at pictures of happy, flag waving, sign carrying “Illegal” (As in criminal) immigrant supporters.

It seems like only a few months ago when I was discussing with a friend how “The Shrimp Cocktail” was once considered a primo, special occasion, dining out treat! It looks like we may be headed back in time as the oil seeps into birthing beds.
Why do the eastern elite think they know more than Arizonans who have to put up with illegal citizens every day?
Winter must be nearing an end…there were two large cruise ships sitting in the harbor yesterday. And lots of lost walkers looking for directions.

24-um: Dana Walsh turned into one great villainess, I’d say. The booby trap scene in the bank was classic. –But the great line came from Jack in response to Dana’s “How can I help you?” – “You can’t” Bam!! –Jack is clearly on a mission and nothing will get in his way. –I love the ugliness shown by the new guy taking over the CTU op. – Chloe will save the day. –I’m hoping that the Prez goes down. –How about President Logan and Mrs. Hassam as lovers! Did you see the glint in his eye? –Overall, a great super fast moving episode. Music was great for tension building.
Did you hear about that Texan named Glenn Fullerton and his big payday at the Kentucky Derby. Apparently CNBC has this contest in a joint promotion with the Derby folks. People are invited to qualify for the drawing by picking the final daily closing stock numbers during a specified time. Those who qualify are put into a pool (This year 67,000) and a winner is picked. The winner gets a first class all-the-way trip to Louisville and…a briefcase full of cash…$100,000 in cash! Here’s the catch. The winner must bet that cash on one horse. Fullerton picked Super Savor, a rather obscure horse. Not the popular favorite – Lookin at Lucky, nor the media darling filly – Devil may Care (The media always becomes enraptured with the fillies). That’s what impressed me. He actually did the work to win. He studied the muddy track and the horses best for it. He studied how the jockeys were doing that day in previous races in the mud. He didn’t just follow the crowd. He took full responsibility for his own decision. And he won. The briefcase grew to a satchel full of $900,000. Nice day!
I see where Provincetown Mass is closing its High School. Very sad for the working people that are left in this once flourishing fishing center. The working fishermen and trades people, long the backbone of this town at the tip have been driven out by the chi-chi high cost of living and housing. The second problem is the disappearance of year round children in this haven for gays and lesbians that only produced two births last year. No kids no schools. Well, at least taxes will go down. Yeah, sure!
Most of the marathon runners ate at a fast food restaurant before the race! Makes sense.
Scientists have now proven what most people have always felt – the sun makes you high. And, according to new research, it’s more than coming back out into brightness after a long gloomy indoor winter. Apparently the sun stimulates the body juices producing a substance similar to morphine! Go out and smell the poppies. EeeeeeHah!
The auto industry is well on the road to recovery, but it is all due to fewer and lower paying jobs.
If you ever catch me sneaking a peak at the new reality geezer show with the demeaning title “Sunset Daze” shoot me. This show about the loves and lives of retirees will have younger folks evoking that dusty old adjective phrase “Aren’t they cute!” Cute! Drooling and wobbling isn’t cute. I never thought an old person was cute. Another favorite word to describe these Sun City sinners will be the dreadful “Frisky”. God help me.
Through the Same Eyes: Chapter 70. –“Hello Sally, this is Sarah Durham.” Sally said hi back and just waited. These damn scientists, I thought. They never commit. My mind wandered to Kent and my feelings of last night. I slept surprisingly well. Does that make me a psychopath or something like that? Anyhow, when I awoke I was actually refreshed, and cheerful fixing breakfast for the kids and Paul. I even gave Paul a healthy kiss as he left. He turned red and stammered a little. Actually he looked back twice as he walked out to the car.Well
“Hello, hello” I heard Sally breaking into my thoughts.
“Sorry Sally, My mind has been wandering a lot since my hospital ordeal.” She said she understood.
Sally, I have a meeting with Izzy today. I’d like to talk to you for a few moments when I’m finished.”
“That’s fine Mrs. Durham” she responded cautiously.
“Call me Sarah,” I quickly inserted. Then I added, “You don’t have to be leery of me.” She was still silent. Maybe talking to Sally will be a waste of time. “Paul said you were a great observer, and I just have a couple of small questions about Bromsky. I realize you didn’t work for him, but I like that other party view at times.”
She immediately agreed adding the words “Oh, Paul said that!” She informed me that Paul would be there this afternoon too. I thought that is good since he really knows these people well, and has his own new doubts about Kent. “I’m thinking that I’ll be in your area around 3:00.
I immediate called Paul after hanging up.
In a world of vagaries, of this you can always be sure: the Oldest person in the world will eventually die. So keep on plugging. Someday you may make it to the top!

It seems like only a few months ago when I was discussing with a friend how “The Shrimp Cocktail” was once considered a primo, special occasion, dining out treat! It looks like we may be headed back in time as the oil seeps into birthing beds.

Celtics in Seven!
Today's Tids Issue 2,119
Opening Stuff:
There is a new war a minute it seems in this changing world of ours. But, the only war I’m interested in is the one that is set to begin in Cleveland this weekend – the Boston Celtics versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. We New Englanders think it will be a bloody doozy! Note to Cleveland readers: We are most concerned about the ever energetic Anderson Varajou. James gets what James gets; even, it appears, with one arm tied behind his back. Of course, some think that his left handed foul shooting trick is all about increasing his already out of sight visibility, and assuring prime ESPN Sportscenter highlights! Is this series all about winning before James’ next contract, possibly elsewhere? Will that scenario place more pressure upon the Cavs? Probably.
You have to like that reasoned approach from the Supreme Court about religious symbols on Public Land. Some don’t think the real reason why Christmas exists should be acknowledged. Crèches don’t necessarily champion a religion, but recognize a fact. Several years ago, around 1992, a guy (A professor at liberalish type college that specializes in social services) moved in around the corner from me. The first thing he did after signing his deeds and mortgage papers was to sign another set of papers authorizing a suit against the town for removal of a cross on a small island in the middle of an intersection of two country-ish roads. The cross was placed there in 1927 as a memorial to the good work of a local country doctor. This was similar to the reason that the cross in the Mojave was placed on a rock in 1935. The cross in the middle of two roads wasn’t a religious, in your face movement. It was a symbolic representation to honor a man who did unto others as he would have others do unto him.

The more you listen to the anti-Arizona law zealots, the more you realize that they are either irrational or disingenuous. They will never equate the word illegal with the word criminal. And, there will never be agreement on a good solution for a serious problem. Especially as Pols turn to jelly.

Nobody does. Even those I seem to let in to roam around. They think they feel what I feel, but they never will. Yet, my Sarah/Maggie thinks a little like me. I should be more aware when I’m with her. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to her. I like her.
“How are you feeling now, Sarah?” I decided to change the subject.
Henry chimed in before she could answer. I have to believe she was happy for that. “Sarah is one tough person. Frankly Kent, I have really enjoyed working with both of you. Most lawmen wouldn’t admit that two civilians could be so helpful.” He just paused and smiled that pleasant smile of his. I like him, but he is a cagy old guy, and I know he loves to make people feel too comfortable. “How is your business going now that this has all come out?”
“We’re doing Ok, and you just reminded me of all the work I have a ahead today.” I took the opportunity to quickly stand and walking behind Sarah, where I gently drew my hand across her back, like a waitress looking to increase her tip.” A reminder to Sarah that my touch was important to her. I got what I wanted. I had to do something about Laura.
“Good-bye Kent,” she smiled. “Maybe I’ll see you around town.

Britain’s Gordon Brown proves once again that he should never have been elected Prime Minister in the first place.
It has been pretty clear that loving Great Britain as a long time and important ally has never been a priority in 0-Man’s heart. But that could all change (And Change is the word) as upstart Liberal Democrat Nick Clegg as been surging lately on a campaign eerily similar to that of our own beloved “Prime Time”. Right now Conservative Party leader Cameron has a slight edge over Brown and new young darling Clegg. Brown looks like a loser to me. Clegg and Cameron, both 43, are emerging as energetic and very good debaters. Clegg uses Obamesque lines like “Something really exciting is beginning to happen. People are beginning to believe, beginning to hope”. But political pollster Andrew Hawkins noted that “many of Clegg’s enthusiastic new supporters know little about his party’s centre-left policies, raising questions of sustainability.” Interesting reminiscence of the last year and a half in US politics.
The Goldman thing has given me a new idea for post retirement income. I’m going to bundle all of the credit card bills of my neighbors, slice and dice them into mini securitized packages, set up a lemon-ade style stand in front of a local brokerage and hawk them to greedy investors. “One to a customer” will really suck them in.
The big difference between the US Debt/GDP ratio and that of EU debt bound nations is that the US can print it’s own money if necessary. Not good, but possible. The EU nations in trouble like the US – Greece, Italy, Ireland, Spain, France – are tied to the Euro and thus not in charge of their own money supply, making their debt more binding. But, not a pretty picture for the US or EU bad boys.
The Answer:
It appears that sensibility and necessity is winning out over irrational exuberance. 30% are paying down debt, 28% are saving it. 26% are paying for energy and food. 7% splurged and went on vacation. 9% aren’t sure or don’t know.

State's Rights or Bust.
Today's Tids Issue 2,116
Opening Stuff:
And how about The Great Mocker Friday dumping on States rights by calling the Arizona illegal immigrant action “misguided”, primarily because the Feds can’t figure out how to get it together without losing votes. See, that is just one more reason why lots of things should stay at state levels. The state has a problem and it knows its own problem. And lawmakers there are not trying to appease national voting and ideological blocs. They are just trying to get the job done, so they can live in their own community. How refreshing do those words sound – Get the job done.
The Constitution grants to the federal government the exclusive powers of Printing money, Declaring war, Establishing army and navy, entering into treaties with foreign Govs, regulating commerce between states, international trade, establishing post offices and making laws necessary to enforce constitution. All other powers are either the province of states (Provide for public health/safety, ratify amendments, intrastate commerce) or shared (Setting up courts, building roads, chartering banks and corps), See http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/rightsandfreedoms/a/federalism.htm The separation of powers so necessary for the protection of average citizens is not just in the Judicial, Legislative or Executive branches, but between states and feds too. This is another reason why it is dangerous for the SC to “write” “national” laws based on local cases, instead on merely deciding on constitutionality.
One thing that the Founding Fathers didn’t seem to consider was the growth in power of Nationalized groups that represent state’s rights responsibilities like education, public safety or social laws like right to life.

If you want to get a good idea about how big government would run things, talk to a commercial fisherman about how unnecessary regulations are sinking the industry…fast.
The admin is walking that tightrope where they want to portray Wall Street as both evil and good. They want them hated so they can ram through the new banking regulation bills on emotion. And they want them to look brilliant and necessary so they can make their bailout bucks look like a wise investment decision.
Lost in all of this Financial ogre-izing is the fact that derivatives are a necessary instrument, and have been for centuries, for the practical application of many mundane financing solutions. As in any business or social community, there are thieves among the good. The government is well known for tossing out babies with the bathwater. See commercial fishermen above.
Part of the beauty of what the USA used to be was being able to get things done in your own community.
First we had to scratch our heads wondering what teen boys saw as good about dressing like ex-cons. Now the teen girls are looking to the sleazy Jersey Shore rompers for The Look! Is there any hope for our youth?

The RI State legislature, scoundrels all, is poised to pass a comprehensive bill on Climate Change which moved to the top of the list at the urging of Brown U students. I have two questions. Why are they spending RI taxpayer money to appease a bunch of temporary residents who haven't grown up enough to understand the realities of day to living beyond mom and dad’s wallet. And two, if they are so interested in climate change, how about some action on the climate of in their own State House where they are beholden to a couple of union controlled power groups. Nothing any more is about the people.
Has al Sadr all of a sudden become the most powerful man in Iraq?
For many many years I have rued the flight from cities to unnecessary suburban development. Today, rebuilding cities is more critical to better overall future living standards than ever. The big problem is that the economics of city rebuilding favors either for the rich because e they can afford it or the poor because of subsidies. We need a way for developer/builders to feel financially comfortable to build for the vital middle class. Hey, we could bundle mortgages!
Detroit existed and grew because of a lot of advantages it had that were necessary to the past, and by a now troubled industry that was over exploited by unions. This once proud city has lots of land available for reuse. But, they need an economy first.
Through the Same Eyes: Chapter 67. --I lay awake the morning after my breakdown. I’m worrying about how I face the people who love me. They are worrying about the person they love. I heard the door rattle and I immediately shut my eyes, feigning sleep. I heard footsteps. Little, cautious footsteps. “Hi mom.” It was Jax. I slowly opened my eyes and saw two sad eyes looking for hope in mine. I snaked my arm out form beneath the covers. And around his waist. With a lug pulled him over and up so he was now cradled by my neck, one leg on and one off the bed. How secure his presence felt to me.
“Don’t be scared my warrior!” I said and that got him smiling a little. “I needed a little tear draining last night. Think of me like a big pond of emotion and the dam wouldn’t let the water out. And all of that heavy water was starting to eat away at the dam. Well some smart person would come along and cut a slot in the top to let the water rush out and save the dam. So last night when I looked at you and Jill, it was my time to let the extra emotion out of my brain – the business and the worry about bad guys, and my love for you and Jill.”
“And, dad too?” right mom.
I turned and looked him in the eye. “And dad too”. And his arm reached around and hugged me hard. “By the way, where is dad?” I need to talk to him.
“Oh, he had to go out. He said he had some business.”
Is it stupidity or arrogance that continually drives politicians into using campaign credit cards for personal expenses. Don't they understand that foes spend thousands trying to dig up dirt. And a name on a credit card is about as good as any place to start.
And how about Gordon Brown who has hired an Elvis impersonator to juice up his campaign. A fake image of the famed glitzy dressed, overweight, pill poppin USA country boy to juice up a British campaign. Is that what politics has come down to?
The Answer:
From the London Sunday Times we have Edgar Bronfman (1.6 Bill pounds) Clive Calder (1.3), Andrew Lloyd Weber, Cameron Mackintosh, Paul McCartney, Simon Fuller (Cowell’s boss on Idol.), Mick Jagger, Elton John, Sting, Keith Richards, Cowell, Olivia and Dhani Harrison, Jamie Palumbo, The Beckhams, Tim Rice, Ringo Starr, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Roger Ames and Roger & Barry Gibb (110 Mil pounds). I thought it was an interesting list. Incase you didn’t know Bronfman (From the Seagram‘s booze family) is Chairman of Warner Music Group and was the leading proponent against music piracy. Clive Calder, the #2 rich music man started the Zomba string of record labels (Battery, Jive, Silvertone et al) which gave the world pop stars N’ Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and R. Kelly among others..
Closing Advice:
If you meet an alien from outer space, don’t try to make conversation...they could be dangerous to your health. The brainy Stephen Hawking says that aliens are probably out there and most likely quite a bit more advanced than we. And if they come here, they aren’t coming for hugs. Rather they will look to colonize Earth, probably violently, to compensate for declines on their planet. So I guess this means there will be no National Take an Alien to Work Day.

Her blog is down, so I can’t provide any more insights. I can only say Bravo! Follow those dreams no matter how treacherous the waters. Think Abby the next time procrastination rears its forbidding head..
New Yorkers are clichés.

Florida politician Charles Crisp looks like a classic weasel to me.
I just don't get this whole mania thing over Pandas. Other than subjects for cute and cuddly Nightly News closings, what good are they.
