Today's Tids Issue 3,318
Opening Stuff:
Unfortunately
we seem to be in an era of
dismissive politics where
babies with hope are often left lying curbside awash in bathwater. We
close our ears before speakers speak. Too much of political
agendas on either side are solely to enable me, instead of me and my
buddy on
my back hanging on for dear life. If you’re not with me you’re against
me has
gone way too far. I believe America is in a crisis situation, much of it
due to
own selfishness. We protect illegitimacy through convolution. I see a
lot of purity
in the hearts of the majority of the masses made toxic by special
interests and
self serving political objectives. The problem remains – how to you get
people
to stop long enough to understand what they are seeing.
I
liked Rand Paul’s announcement for the President
speech quite a lot. He moved adroitly to widen his reach into broader
demographics, which every Repub must do; balanced his military, security
beliefs in a conservative appeasing manner; All, without giving away the store.
I liked the line “We have to stop borrowing money from China to give it to
Pakistan.” And, “Let’s start building bridges at home.”
The
latest stories about recipes always seem to include
somewhere the phrase, “With a Kick”. Personally, I have always liked lazy food.
The
good news is that Trout season opens around here this
weekend. That’s another of those wonderful spring events, like the opening of
key ice cream stores around the area, that marks the end of winter drear and
the hope for a finger-licking good summer.
The
Question:
(Note: I
had a wandering pointer yesterday, which because my laptop touchpad was
mysteriously enabled by the computer leprechauns, would move sentences into the
wrong paragraphs or totally eliminate them. Hence, the Question 3, “Name the
top songs from South Pacific” was missing. The answers were there, and it was
probably confusing. Sorry.) But that was then. Today’s poser: How much money
has Shark Tank invested in how many companies? Name five of the most successful
products.

This
is that time of year when you get all of these

you have no clue to their capability or character.
The
Voice: Night two iof the first week of the live
countdown eliminations was a good one. I had four personal favorites – Joshua Davis
(Sounded like Paul Simon in a so-so song but still solid) Kimberly who may have
been the best of the night, India Carney who’s rich easy tones and screen magic
will make her a final threat, and Deanna – who was ok but who’s voice I have
loved since the chair turns. Tonya Boyd may be the next best singer, but was lackluster
last night. Rob Taylor sings stuff I don’t particularly like, but he sings well
and will be a huge factor down the road. Brian Johnson does nothing for me, but
his performance was enjoyable. Lexi Davis brought down the house, but it was
just one note that did it. Sonic was off key and Nathan shouldn’t even be on
the show. The last two will be going home and the other two is really a tossup
As my favorite musicologist advisor tells me, “Everybody but Sawyer sounds the
same”.
Headline
for the Times, Department:
“Mans Shoots and kills self after Casino revokes
his ‘Lifetime Free Buffet Pass’.” Life is
not worth living without lasagna and fries.
I
think one of RI’s largest industries must be the care and
handling and delivery of unemployment and worker’s comp benefits. It is
certainly one of the best organized and most protected.
By
the way, Corporate Annual reports where money and creative
license were no problem because it was in fact the CEO’s own brochure, used to
be one of the real prizes in the Advertising industry. Now businesses can put
out on the Web a corporate image piece practically weekly, cheaper.
Mike
Krzyzewski is very adept at teaching his players how to foul
without being caught and how to promote infractions against opposing teams that
never occurred. He still hasn’t offered an adequate handbook on the proper
pronunciation of his name.
The
Repubs, at least the conservative side, continues to run
their campaign to elect Hillary Clinton. Immediately after Rand Paul’s talk, the
conservatives ran anti-Paul ads and had spokes people loaded with anti-Paul
talking points. The anti-conservative Repubs had already done the same against
Ted Cruz. Every time you fracture the Republican candidates, you pave the way
for an easier Dem Victory. It’s not rocket science.
I
see where the US NLRB is teaching immigrants the ins and
out sof Humand Rights. In other words they are abetting lawbreakers in the successful
commission of a crime against the USA immigration laws.
The
most dangerous place in America may be urban nightclub
areas after 1:00 AM.
As
one wag says, “A Hillary gender based election to
President would not be a historic moment. It would be a ‘Herstoric’ event”.
The
Answer:
Shark Tank millionaires have invested $20,000,000
in 109 companies. Some of the best performers are: First, I know that “GrooveBook
was sold to Shutterfly for $14.500. That’s works. Some other big winners are Scrub
Daddy”, Talbot Teas, “Chord Buddy”, Cousins Maine Lobster, “Lallacup”, Ava The Elephant,
Note Hall, KissTip, Daisy Cakes, the Painted Pretzel, Pork Barrel BBQ,
Readerest, Plate Topper and Tower Paddle Boards.
Life
is a seesaw. Being balanced is no fun, but it will
keep you going.
