Today's Tids Issue 3,317
Opening Stuff:
What’s gotten into April? I can’t remember one so warm,
and this is especially surprising considering how cold the water had been when
April Fools day ushered in another month of showers for may flowers. Does this
point to a warmer than usual summer around here?
My feelers are telling me as I ask around about
presidential politics’ that the country is ready for relief from edginess, and
is in the mood for a George Herbert Walker Bush type of leader. We have to get
back into thoughtful hand written notes and away rampant undocumented tweeting
and kneejerk accusations. American needs a steady hand capable of reaching out
to all.
I was thinking the other day that there may be a lot of traditional
hoarders who have found “The Cloud” and are filling it up fast. The
contemporary hoarder has become a broadband problem. Hoarding is in danger of becoming
a federal offense.
A news flash around here announces a proposal to move the
Newport Grand Casino (Not) to Tiverton on the mass line. Poor Tiverton. Since
the days just beyond the Pilgrim landing, the quiet town has been…well quiet.
Now in a year a mass developer with a gigantic mall proposal wants to bring
Cranston to the bucolic seaside community and the legislature wants gamblers
there. My heart aches.
The Question:
What
are the top 7 universities for producing millionaires?

For the sake of my
communications network think it’s about time I learned a little more about tweeting, or
is that twerking. As Tweeety bird said that’s the twouble with today’s terminology --
because what is terwific one day is terminal tomorrow. I guess in the rapid
progression of technology that makes me
a tweener. I know enough not to be traumatized, but really don’t care enough to
app-reciate every the relentless intwusions upon my defined satisfaction.
Maybe it was the increasing
tension of
the competition, but there were several shortfalls on The Voice last night.
Most obvious to me was Joshua, so sure and competent in his soft rock/folk
specialty, stumbled noticeably when he went up beat. Among the five pretty much
sure thing keepers Joshua was once one of them), I didn’t think Kimberly was
that great last night, but the fans probably did. I have liked the personality and
singing of Koryn Hawthorne --- there’s just something about her – and she proved
to be the best of the night. Sawyer was Sawyer and that means real good, although
not quite perfect last night. India Carney regained her form, and Meghan seemed
to light up the Judges, but not me. Of the rest, Hannah proved again that she
is a very good entertainer and her song got better as she traveled on all over
the stage. Rob Taylor brought down the house, playing the piano too. He will struggle with voters. I think he’s a real
talent. Corey was lackluster as usual, and should go, but his girl appear
unfortunately may keep him. That brings me to Dianna m—the girl with my favorite
voice. But ast night I saw her inability ot build up a pretty solid base performance.
I was too much into Grace Slick as she sang, and she didn’t measure up as I
waited for her to find the magic. Corey and Deanna should be gone. Other
candidates could Rob or Hannah if the teens save Corey.
One of the good reasons for living in a city is that
it is less likely that some developer is going to come in a change your
lifestyle with some all encroaching, intrusive project.
While not declaring
anything,
the news reports this morning seems to be saying we are fighting wars against
Russia and Iran. That seems to be a lot of potential all out conflict on the Pentagon’s
plate.
I keep reading news reports
about The FBI capturing ISIS recruits and people planning bombing attacks. This is
good. But, I wonder if some day the ISIS/Al-Qaida/Boco masterminds will figure
out that their minions asking for and receiving help from strangers in the US
is generally a Bureau sting. That’s the scary part. What starts happening when
they figure it all out?
Somehow I’m finding that life is very good
without FaceBook.
I think one of the truths I have learned about these
TV singing competitions is that many a mediocre male singer who teen girls
think is cute go way beyond where there lack of talent should be taking them.
Worried yet?, Department:
A
new CNN/ORC International Poll says that Hillary can start decorating the Oval
Office. The closest Repub competitor is Marco Rubio who is down by 14 points!
Jeb is down 17 and Rand Paul is down 19. We can say that this will change once
the GOP picks a candidate. But, the problem is that the Dems with their significant
majority of people who want anything the government can give, combined now with
voting for a woman for woman’s sake, it is obvious that Hillary merely needs to
be good, while the Repub nominee must be absolutely perfect. It’s going to be a
tough one.
I attended the kick-off
dinner for
this senior golf league I play in Spring, Summer and Fall, and the conversation
was not about golf swings and putting accuracy, but about new limbs and heart monitors
acquired over the winter. And, how to hold your urine while driving to Florida.
Fore!
No matter how successful or
wealthy a
person maybe, I still think that anybody who relies on continuous F-Bombs during
conversations is pretty ignorant.
Sorry, I had to take a break to
watch “The Price is Right”. Every once in a while a cluttered brain demands
simplicity. I won a car!
The Answer:
Well
as you might expect, Harvard was #1. And it isn’t too easy to guess that the home
of App Nation, Stanford is #2. The rest were Cal Berkeley, MIT, Oxford, NYU and
UPenn. As one wag observed tough, hazard may produce millionaires, but has also
become tops for foisting upon our nation frantic liberal activists.
Time to start thinking about tomorrow’s Tids.
Have fun!
