Today's Tids Issue 3,320
Opening Stuff:
One of the nicest things
about this daily Tids mess is that I often get notes from readers about memories
sparked by a Tidlet. For instance, yesterday a guy after reading the Tids
tartan story, fondly remembered how beautiful his wife to-be appeared walking down the high school hallway in her plaid
skirt. Makes you stop and reflect on little things stowed away in your heart,
doesn’t hit. Better stimulation than a pacemaker.
(I have noticed that some
IPad people
are not getting good readable versions of the Tids in the email format. So I
will be putting the URL for the online Tids at the beginning of each
issue. Just in case you are wondering
what you are looking at when I begin.
Just another Tids service for happier readers.)
The big news around here is that our Former Senator and
Governor Lincoln Chafee, I have dubbed him Chafee-Lite, has announced an
intention maybe to run for President. One morning newspaper had the big
headline, “Chafee for President?”. I may have adjusted that to Chafee? For president?
One thing is for sure, Chafee always knew how to bewilder his constituents.
The Question:
Who
are the youngest coaches to win NFL Championships?
The Headlines:

Tornadoes Terrifying Region.

Ayatollah Blasts US As Untrustworthy In Nuke Deal Making; Ayatollah Warns Saudi
To Back Off On Bombing Raids In Yemen..

Local Pride, Department:
How
about that Providence College hockey team! They will face Boston University,
coached by a local kid from Cranston, for the NCAA Championship.
The new Poll numbers from a Quinnipiac U. Poll
shows Hillary slipping behind Rand Paul In Iowa and Colorado. She is ahead of
all other Repubs. Chafee for president?
Speaking of Poll numbers, in another new poll
according to the local newspaper, the President of the US has lower numbers
than the double murderer Frank Underwood of House of Cards, and wife cheating
hard drinking Fitzgerald Grand of Scandal . What does this reverence for
immoral characters say about the US standard of excellence?
The “Shoe” comic strip notes that the
first Solar Pacemaker recipient has died in Seattle.
The Middle East has always been a Bubble really
to burst open into regional warfare. But this Yemen thing just seems to be
drawing finer, more dangerous battle lines than usual. Do the comfortable sultans
of Saudi-Arabia really want an all out war with Iran? Trade their Teslas for
tanks? I don’t think so.
Ex Governor Chafee-Lite says he’s going to run on
his Senate vote against the Iraq War and against the Bush Tax Cuts. And, also on
his stance against Kurt Shilling’s bloody sock.
There’s no truth to the rumor that the
magazine Golf Digest is a guide for alligators eating players.

Movie Reviews:
--
A good job by Pachino and good cast overcomes a pretty predictable plot about
an aging rock star who can’t give up his sordid life, until his agent discovers
a long hidden inspiring letter to him from
John Lennon, Leading Pachino character to rediscover his family.
--The
Longest Ride is based on Nicholas Sparkes story and is much too sugary sweet
even for non-diabetics. Luke is a champion bull rider and Sophia is the girl of his dreams who has her own dreams
of the NYC art world. The conflict deepens when they meet Ira who tells beautiful
tales of his romantic life with his now deceased wife. Critics say – Bad,
really bad.
The Answer:
The
youngest to win a Superbowl are John Gruden 39yrs, 162 days; John Madden 40
yrs, 274 days; Joe Gibbs 42, 66 days’ Chuck Noll 43, 7 days; Don Shula 43 10
days. The oldest was Dick Vermeil at 63, 92 days. Bill Belichick today is 6
days shy of 63, making him the second oldest just ahead of the Jets Weeb
Ewbank.
The Pachino film reminded me of one of my
favorite movies, The Rose. Here’s Bette:
Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
