When in Rome.

Today's Tids Issue 3,349
Opening Stuff:

Say what you might about Muslims, you have to agree that most of the people are firm believers in their God. It was good yesterday that the Supreme Court agreed when supporting the Muslim woman that companies in business have to respect the religious needs of people. America is an amalgamation of little differences, and one is protecting religions from tyrants in the Government and other instituions. This is not about whether or not you like a religion, be it Catholic, Jew, Hindo, Born-again Christian or Islam, it’s about freedom to believe and pray.

About weekly I read something from a marijuana advocate about the bliss and beauty of having such an industry in the neighborhood. The latest was a letter to grads. Saying the growing marijuana industry will keep our best and brightest form leaving the state to find good jobs. Gadzooks. Last week, Paul McCartney a long time wacky weed worshipper said he gave up his favorite pastime because he didn’t want to be a bad influence on his children and grand children. Did you say, “Bad” influence, Paul? Rhode Island, the Weed Sate. What is it that the Independent man is smoking atop the State House?

As the National debt speeds past 18,000,000,000,000, I can only think that the USA is a grand Ponzi scheme that isn’t working.

The Question:
1. Who was the only president Married in The White House. ( That is different than  the only president to have sex with an intern in the White House.) 2. According to a New Poll, what do Americans hate Most?

The Headlines:
--New Poll: Number of USA People Finding The Hill Untrustworthy Has Risen To 57% From 49%; Polls +Shoe=ws Dem Darlin’ Running Even With Rand Paul, Scott Walker and Marco Rubio.
--Security Reports Show In Tests TSA Letting 95% Of Dangerous Weapons Onto Planes.
--Insurers Crying For Premiium Hikes On ObamaCare Pals
--Rescue Ships Racing To Save Hundreds In Overturned Chinese Boat Disaster.
--NASA Prepping Revolutionary Flying Saucer Test Flight.
--Connecticut Bu=Iz And residents Preparing For $2 Billion Tax Hike
--Graham Adds To Repub Slate

I must have been crazed by the June full moon, cause yesterday’s Tids were festooned by typos as if written by a baboon in Rangoon.

Sports Finals, Department:
Well were down to the final two in both the NBA and NHL. -- I always have a hard time rooting for a Florida team in hockey. Beach Volley Ball yeah, but skating on ice under the hot sun? I’m an old fashioned stubborn traditionalist, so when there’s an Original Six team in the mix, I’m on board,…well maybe not the Rangers. The TB team is young fast and skillful. But the more experienced Blackhawks have the “Know-what-to-do-when-it-counts” experience. The Lightening are playing well, and there’s plenty of former Michiganders in the area to add a little cheering. I just think that Chicago will win it all, again.  –20i4-15 MVP Curry may be the most exciting player in basketball, and is surely one of the greatest, if not the greatest 3-Point shooter in NBA History. He is a good guy all around and a joy to watch. The King Lebron is a force unseen in the history of the game who can take over a game just by, it seems, wishing it. It looks like GS Klay Thompson is warming up and could be ready and that is significant. The Cavs have a great supporting cast, none more exciting and a fan favorite than Matthew Dellaverova – a dive on the floor, surrender your body, all  out competitor -- My kind of guy. So it will be a very good series, and even though I’m a Steve Kerr fan, I gotta see the Cavs giving its starving, and delightful fans a win.

In case you missed it, Ben Affleck and jenneifer Garner are heading towards divorce court. Most reaction is to Jennifer saying essentially, “Get rid of the creep.”

If you think RI roads are bad now, wait til road builder crews start smoking legalized MJ. It’s a long and winding road…

A lot of misunderstanding leading to animosity is simply the result of people thinking that what’s important to them is important to all.

The announcement of a new Republican candidate just doesn’t feel like news anymore, does it?

You hear a lot about centralizing various town or regional government bodies ito one central state source. You hear it most often in Education efficiency discussions, or perhaps police and fire departments. Around here you see a move to have regional or town tourism budgets folded into one giant RI program. While on paper ri t looks a like a smart way to and more heft, get more for your bucks on a bigger stage. It could be fraught with problems. While appearing efficient because of mass, it would become ineffective for many smaller yet important entities that could become obscure in the mass promotions. For instance, Westerly still wants people to come to their beaches over Narragansett, and vice versa. The disillusionment will run high as the grand creative schema obscure many personal favorites. The body will become super political, which typically emans nothing will be efficient in the end. Believe me, I have run massing of entities camps=iagns, and the strong rael y really want wot surrender to the strong around table. It becomes the old committee design a horse and getting a camel song.

Besides…we already have plenty of tourists. The corner of Pt. Judith and Ocean roads in Narragansett is beginning to look like Times Square on Jan 1. It used to be a picture of quiet solitude.

The execs of FIFA seem to have read the playbook of some USA Union Chieftains. You  know, use the membership to finance your power trip and increases in revenue. Or, take political leaders who basically get elected to finance and prepare for their next election, all at the expense of the people they supposedly represent.

A good reader suggest that perhaps I should Bennett Cerf or even Ogden Nash the Tids…meaning make it rhyme so you can all have great time, with a Tids that reads like sweet Toffee. Why, it will be better than morning coffee. Don’t miss an issue…and get out your tissue; the emotions of poems will get into your bones. I think I’m taking this much too far. Get me outta here.

There is nothing cute or funny or heartwarming about Bill Clinton in case you are interested in where I’m coming from. Unless of course you think general all-around amorality is a good thing.

I don’t have much to say about what’s titillating all of the TV and radio (including sports talk) shows this morning, something about Decathlon champ Bruce Jenner being courageous. Basically he became what he thinks he is, and is part of the second most powerful PR machine after the Hillary operation – the Kardashian juggernaught. It will be good for their show and his dressmaker. I have always felt that people should be comfortable being what they are, rather than what people tell them they should be.

Have you ever noticed that the Kennedy’s in order to gain fame and power always take up little unknown issues which create discomfort in people so a member of the clan can rise up to be their champions.

The Answer:
1. Grover Cleveland married A winsome, 27 years younger than he, Frances Folsom 2. Cable companies are the thing hated most by Americans. Of these hated companies, they like best Verizon, AT&T, Direct TV, Dish, Cablevision, Bright House, Charter, Cox, Suddenlink, Comcast, Mediacom and Time Warner in that order.

There’s a New Harvard Biz School study out about people who frequently are ofund to have typos in their emails. They are xonsidered to ne=be more emotional, less intelligent. They comeoff as feeling which often trumps the perceived lacyk of smarts Poerful peple come off as more likeable when typos appear. The good news is that by appearing to be less samrt, you are deemd more authentic. Tis is froma study of a Harvard guy with nothing to do but spend a Governemtn grant. Typos, I never heard of such a thing.
See you all tomorrow, typo free. I’m going for stoic intellectualism.
