Today's Tids Issue 3,358
Opening Stuff:
I was having trouble
finding a good opening for today’s Morning mess. I couldn’t decide between
an ethereal poem of romance, or an attack essay on the political system. Or perhaps a short pithy diatribe on the most
recent cultural mind boggler. Would it be stomach acid anger at arresting a 6
year old for drawing a picture of a gun in school; politicians skating free
after defrauding tax payers again and again? Or would it be – Feeling the love
in the heart of thee, setting the binds in my mind free, sensing the days
tensions flee. It’s always best to take
love you see; For anger and me doesn’t agree.
I love Tchai’s use of
the tympani in the first movement of his 4th symphony.
Popeye’s Lament,
Department:
OK, what’s with the disappearance of good ole’ leafy spinach
in favor of the baby version that‘s now dominating grocery store shelves. And
when did spinach cease to be a vegetable and become a salad ingredient. Baby
spinach – is that designed to go with veal and lambkins. You have to wonder about
the hearts of vegans; the whimperin of tiny leave, curling inward as the fork
approaches; the sting balsamic on tender veins and nodes Innocent baby spinach! Horrors. Bring back
real spinach.
Personally I think
that the only difference between the beauty of rolling gassy fields, framed
by leafy trees, brisk with wildflowers and flitting birds; and the awesome never-ending
rolling oceans with wind blown crests, seagulls hovering… is that humans will
not soon build upon the ocean. The beauty of stonewalled fields always brings
angst to me. I know somebody is looking at the land differently.

Stock Market analysts
seem to be softening up the investment community for a “correction”, just
as the renown U. Michigan consumer satisfaction index is showing a nice leap
upward as people see for the first time in a long time bigger paychecks. So who
are you betting onto win this race?
I think that a reason
why comedians have to resort to repeating F--- and S--- so often in
routines to get dummies in the audience laughing is because PC has smothered
what used to be fodder for humorous commentary. People are afraid to have
people laugh at them. Obviously I’m not by putting out this mess every morning
except Saturdays and Sundays.
A wise old stock guy
I know says tht investors are nervous about the markets, which means they
are doing anything rash. Even though prices appear high with little room for
growth, this is not an irrational exuberant moment. Investors are watching
their numbers and being cautious..
The headline
yesterday read, “AMA to mount campaign against quacks like Dr. Oz”. Apparently
young interns learning the trade are tired of misguided information coming from
TV celeb Doc wannabees. Of course the truth these days will not stop anybody
for picking the rght ting. Like Oz who is making millions is going to say, “Yeah,
I get it, I’m gogintot step down for the good of the people.” Everybody is
defining teir own truth depending upon what there personal goals may be.
I signed up for one
of those Doctor web sites where you can find your own info on line. What
was revolutionary is that they actually had a “Decline or Accept” Agreement:
which was very short and in plain English, which was entirely understandable.
Now there’s an idea for an app.
The only good thing
The Hill did Saturday at her less than filled to capacity rally at NY’s
Roosevelt Island was not to evoke the give-away policies of LBJ. She assured
all of the gleeful attendees that she would continue on every liberal policy
know to man especially as conceived by her Impeached hubby, FDR and inept
0-Man. Yes, she actually said she would keep the lib policies of of “O” moving
along. Everybody was eating sponge cake last night. And ISIS was doing the
Jihad jig.
Let’s hope that Fox
Sports first attempt at he US Open Coverage next week doesn’t overwhelm the
golf with excessive gadgetry. Sometimes people and entities try too hard to do
things that only require profound simplicity
I was thinking
yesterday that if I were to buy a giant $1,500 TV I could save the cost of
a $3,000 eye operation.. .and make $1500!
When I walk onto a
golf course or downtown wearing my beloved Red Sox hat, people are now
snickering. “Why’re you still wearing that thing,” they chide. Of course I get
up on my soap box and rail on for loyalty. I say fandom does not just belong to
the good times. You stick by your teams just as you would stick by friends and
spouses and loved ones when things get tough. And on I go until I see heads
dozing or arms cocked ready to throw golf balls at me. It’s tough being an
apostle these days.
There’s been a lot of
incidents lately of animals escaping from zoos or circuses and killing
people. Have our beasts been watching trailers for the new movie thriller, Zoo?
I had to chuckle
slightly when reading the Celebrity birthday list Saturday. One line had
“Mary Kate Olsen – 29”. The next line had “Ashley Olsen – 29.” It just struck
me as humorous. Maybe I’m weird.
The Answer:
The Miranda rights decision came out of an incident in
Arizona in 1966. Bonus: Paul
McCartney sang “Yesterday”. And, I always thought it was John Lennon. But, I
was probably thinking of “Imagine”. Double
Bonus: The Villages with 114k people growing at 5.4% Is number one, way
ahead of #2 Myrtle Beach growing at 3.2%. The rest are Austin Tx, Odessa Tx,
St. George Utah, Cape Coral, Fl, Bend Or, Greeley Co, Midland Tx, Naples Fl and
Houston. There are none in RI.
The local Pols here
always tout the natural beauty of RI as a good reason for businesses to
move in. Of course, Texas, from my point of view, is anything but post card
picture perfect. Businesses move in there and people follow because they can
make money and the folks can earn enough to live better. Ironically, RI is a
pretty place and draws many tourist and vacationers, and now the wise ones up
at the capital are going to tax vacations rentals too, and put an
administrative Burdon that includes huge penalties on rental unit owners.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and money without onerous strings is
winning out as the pretty little thing..
The Irish should be
rich because their capital is always Dublin.
