As
Chopin’s 2nd movement of his 2nd Piano
concerto plays in the background I am moved to fly above the clouds. You know
the tune well, the melody of lovers walking hand in hand; Searching each other’s
eyes; feeling their hearts atwitter. Yup, that tune that is so infectious, so irresistible
to hearts afire. Wallow in in it. Feel beautiful.
So
naturally, my mind is wistful and reaching beyond discourse.
I feel like I have a fluffernutter heart this morning, little vibrations urging
my eyes to inhale the beauty of God’s creations. Maybe it’s the sun outside, or
maybe it’s just that our bodies just demand to be free to roam. Or maybe, it’s
just that f---ing song.
I
like to go to restaurants with big napkins. On these nights
when eating outside the napkins keep your legs warm after the sun goes
down.
So
the question of the day is, which is worse -- hacking Yahoo,
or political hacks dominating American politics?
The
Question:
Then is a quick word association history Q. Which historic
person to you associate with the four following words or phrases: Northwest Territory.
Psychoanalysis, Checkers. West Point.
The
Headlines:
--Market Futures Down; Verizon Taking New Look At
Yahoo Purchase After News Of Breach.
--Syrian Peace Effort Kaput.
--Yahoo Confirms That 500 Million Accounts Were
Hacked.

I
am also musing this morning about changing the Tids.
After 3,690 Issues, there must be a need for change -- in attitude, delivery,
tone, layout. Let’s face it, human eyes glaze over with repetition. But, it’s
too deep for me right now this morning as I romp merrily through fields of Montauk
daises and Autumn apple orchards. I’ll work on it and see what needs
refreshing. but like the Fed and rates, you just have be careful about Market
reactions. “Market drops 500 points after Tids alters typeface.”
There’s
a possibility that the next “bubble” in the markets will be
caused by the Fed’s inaction on rates and the resultant rise in inflation. Free
money is good for borrowers and bottom lines but not so hot for a real economy
mired in slow GDP growth. Look ahead.
The
candles on hero worship alters will be burning brighter
this morning as Bruce Springsteen followers sing Happy 69th Birthday to their favorite
singer.
MacGyver
comes back to TV tonight and I will probably watch it. I always
enjoyed it years ago, but I have to tell you that this new version comes with a
warning. It sucks. I mean it looks real, real bad. In fact critics rate it
extremely low, and test audiences hate it. But, I will be dumb enough to watch
and decide for myself.
Up
Harvard way, the huge endowment fund has lost $1.9
Billion so far this year. Now you have to figure they can hire the best and brightest
on Wall Street. Hmm. Just shows you that the best and brightest can’t figure
out the markets either. Or, maybe they’re too bright for their own good. Maybe
they need alternative energy.
Before
the big news about the Yahoo hack I was thinking that
more and more the least safe place to be is on the internet. Somebody knows a
lot about you, and you just don’t know exactly how it will be used, Pretty
scary. With that, I am affirming that I will never run for President of the
USA.
Did
you notice that in today’s big headlines the FBI is involved in
cases about a former congressman pervert and a glittering Hollywood couple’s
personal grievances? Maybe they should be getting back to Hillary.
I
will be back to the Parking Lot Next week. I had several other
writing chores for this week. An aging mind can only do so much.
With
the big news today about a hacker getting into 500 Million
Yahoo accounts, you just have to wonder if other services will accept stuff
like the Tids delivered from the Yahoo system.
Reading
Between the lines Movie Reviews:
--Magnificent is certainly not a superlative you would
use for the revision of a couple of old classics. The Magnificent Seven is too
much about brooding posturing. However, the plot is familiar, about a desperate
towns people hiring a group of seven miscreants to bring down the evil big business
boss. This is approved by Elizabeth Warren.
--The mediocrity continues in the Storks, but all is
not lost as the kids will really enjoy as will many adults who don’t care about
critical acclamation. Kelsey Grammer and Andy Samberg are the voices of two
storks who reveal the truth about delivering babies, whatever that is. And, and
perhaps bad big business intrusion.
--The
Dressmaker starring Kate Winslett is so-so! A dressmaker returns home to the Australian
outback to reconcile with Mom after a successful career in Paris. While there
she falls in love and armed with her knowledge and sewing machine transforms the
woman in town…to get revenge on those who done her wrong.
The Answer:
