For Maybe, Tomorrow:
The
interest rates will have to go up sometime. They might as
well do it now and get it over with. The market will react the same way whether
they do it next week of six months from now.
Happy
Autumn everybody. It is officially here and the good cold
nights, more stimulating days will be back with us in a day or two. I still don’t
understand why they don’t also make today the end of day light saving time
instead of putting it off. What difference does it make anyhow? You still are
awake as long in standard time as you are in daylight time. BTW, have you
noticed that the period of DST is actually longer that Standard time. Why don’t
they just rename DST, Standard Time, and make standard time “Cool Time”. Or
Snowbird Days.
Some
days should be easy. But life doesn’t always work out that
way.
The
Question:
There have only been Five “Five-Star” Generals in
USA history. Who Are they?

A
friend of mine when asked by his wife what he was going to
do today, answered, “Nothing.” She said, “That’s what you did yesterday!” He replied,
I hadn’t finished.”
It
is pick em’ time and it better be better this week than last,
which was a dreadful 7-9. I’m thinking that the Texans are going to beat my beautiful
Pat’s team tonight. I haven’t had winner on Thursday yet, so I’m hoping to
continue my string of mispicks. The Cardinals woke up last week, and the Bills
don’t seem too good, even at home. Have to pick Arizona. Oakland showed some holes
and the Titans woke up, This is a tough pick so I’m going with the home team in Nashville. The big Eastern battle is always
the Skins and Giants. Better this year. The Giants are average, but winning. I
think I have to go with the upset hear pick the Skins. The Dolphins have a
better QB than the Browns. It breaks my heart, but the Browns lose again. The Jags
have let me down, but the Ravens don’t look great, I’m sticking with home team Jags
one more time. The Lions and Pack is always a war, and this is no different. It’s
a toss-up with the home team GB having the edge. Another war will be the Bengals
at home against the mighty D of Denver. I go Bengals in an upset. What! – yet a
third tough one. But the Vikes and Panthers are two that could be around in January.
The Vikes lost Adrian and the Panthers are home. Panthers. The Bucs got killed
and the Rams showed something. But. I’m picking TB. The Seahawks have looked
like an also-ran, and the Niners are barely running. Seahawks. The Chiefs need
a win but the Jets will be tough. I got to go Chiefs. Andrew Luck seems to be getting
worse. The charges are better than expected. I still pick the Colts at home,
even though I’m not happy about it. Personally, right ow I think the Steelers
are playing as well as anybody and should handle the Philly rookie QB. The Bears-Cowboys
is the lackluster game of the week. Gotta go Cowboys at home. I think the
Saints are going to surprise the so-so Falcons. Record to date embarrassingly
is 17-15
In
case you missed the severity of the Wells-Fargo robbery
now being investigated in Congress, here’s the difference between it and all other
Wall Street scandals: “Wells Fargo broke the cardinal rule – they went right
after the ma and pa retail main street customer! (They must have thought it was
the Boston Cardinal Law rule – “Get away with anything if you can.”)
There’s
a rumor floating around that some Hillary strategists
are advising that she beg out of the first debate this coming Monday. Their
reasoning I hear, is because she is still in recovery mode and they should not
chance her possibly collapsing during the debate. If she did, it could be the
end of her campaign.
Kiefer
Sutherland came back in a new thriller, where he is the only
person left on the chain of Presidential selection. My early impression is that
it is designed to make the Jack Bauer’s of the world look bad and over
reactionary. We’ll see about this one. Clue: Kal Penn, the guy who plays the
part of the speechwriter for President Kirkland (Kiefer) used to work in the
Obama White House. Could this be a legacy building TV plot where producers
justify the Prez pussyfooting after terrorists who have blown up the US
government ala “Independence day”.
There
was a pleasant surprise on The Voice when one of the contestants
turned out to be Rhode Island’s Billy Gilman. Remember Billy, the child star
who at 10 years old set Nashville back on its heels with the number one country
album! He has finally found his adult voice at 28 and was outstanding last night.
I think tere is way too much coaching discussions, so thank God for DVR. I
liked the 17yo We McDonald a lot and I thought Lauren Diaz was quite good
singing a Keyes tune. Sa Rayah was talented but at what I consider more of the
same in her genre. Sophia Urista sung the Beatles with far too much theatrics,
but a coach could temper her and bring out some salable talent. I liked Brenden
Fletcher and curiously Dan Shafer, the 54 year old making a comeback. The rest –
Ethan Tucker and Andrew DeMuro were Ok but noting great.
The
Answer:
The Five star Generals are Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas
MacArthur, Omar Bradly, Hap Arnold and George Marshall. I guess today’s wars
aren’t big enough to produce 5-Stars.
Sorry
for the short and sweet Tids, but have to run.
