Today's Tids Issue 3,688
Tids for the Obvious:
As
I turned the corner, the orange yellow dawning sun, just
inches above the horizon, flashed into my eyes, leaving my brain aglow with
hope for a day yet to come. That perfect sphere of morning beauty lay there,
majestic, welcoming good hearts into a new day. The brightness forced my eyes
to dip, now to the glass like bay spread miles before me; waters surely like Stueben
or Waterford, reflecting the waking life of the world; all life rejuvenated from
a deep and slumbering night.
Gloria
Steinem says that forced childbirth causes Global Warming!
Yikes.
Need
versus Want, Department:
A Teacher named Bobby Hoyt got rid of $40K in
college loans in 18 months. What did he do? Giving up stuff is the only option,
and while it is uncomfortable at the time (Especially watching friends live
high), it is truly only quite temporary and a small part of the life to come.
Here’s five things he and his wife, also a school teacher, did in order to use
75% of earnings for payback. 1. They rented a room from his parents for $500/mo
instead of jumping into house ownership or super apartment rental. 2. Keep the
old clunker of a car that got you through school. 3. Don’t take expensive trips
or eat out. 4. Don’t spend money on “wants”, just “needs”. 5. Give up cable
payments, and use Netflix et al. “It’s ok to be poor for a while. “When you are
in the red, it’s really the only option,” says Hoyt and his wife. Who by the
way, are a very happy young debt free couple.
The
Question:
As the Globe shrinks, diseases once thought long
gone, could make a comeback. What do you think are the ten deadly diseases that
have a better chance of returning?

A
couple of TV shows opened last night – the old favorite NCIS
and the new “Bull” starring former NCIS star Weatherly. NCIS had a pretty good
plot, but I was sorry to see that Sarah Clarke didn’t make it as a regular. I’m
not so sure about the somewhat giddy character named Quinn. I thought Bull was quite
good, and it held my interest. Let’s hope all of these shows aren’t just about various
pop culture social ills. And, how will Bull react to having a really guilty bad
guy as a client.
Speaking
of GW, the climate change gang is ecstatic over the recent
warm summer. This is the same group that said the recent super cold winter was
an anomaly. If you get my snowdrift.
If
a few financial company and big bank CEO’s went to jail
instead of their companies paying stockholder underwritten fines, the companies
would be cleaned up real fast. And we wouldn’t need a lot of extraneous government
regulations and intervention.
If
we got rid of all lobbyists, what would congress
people do for a second career.?
The
Answer:
Number Ten – Leptospirosis -- has recently been seen
in the Philippines in flood waters containing animal urine. The rest you thought
were long gone are Syphilis (Growth of Social Network anonymous hookups),
Measles, Diphtheria, Typhoid fever, olio, Bubonic Plague, Leprosy, Dengue Fever
and Cholera. Ugh.
I
see where Las Vegas has authorized $750 Million
for a new NFL franchise stadium. Why does this industry have to have citizen
taxpayers build their “factories”? Oh yeah. LV is also one of the areas where
Syphilis is making a comeback, and is second to only one other City –
Washington DC! Say what?. But tis all stays there.
See
you tomorrow.
