Understanding.

Today's Tids Issue 4,369
Too Big to Grasp?

The world is abewilderin’. Yet it doesn’t have to be so if you never forget the foundations of goodness and understanding and honesty.

Easter egg puns crack me up.

In case you missed it, as chickens and bunnies dominate the aisles of drug stores and supermarkets, April 19 is also the beginning of Passover. The story of Passover is one most heartfelt, of deep meaning to survival. Of the love of God upon the Jewish population.

Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t know what may have come over me in this time of love for all. Stars caught up in the dishonest college entry scandal don’t like to be called “cheaters”. God. I’ll have to make amends if I have made any disparaging remarks about their integrity. I hadn’t known the truth hurt them so.

The Question:
Who is the biblical figure most centric to Passover? Name three of the ten plagues inflicted upon Egypt.

Two of my all-time favorite novels were Ken Follett’s “Pillars of the Earth” and the sequel “World Without End”. If for some reason people are wondering why an 850-year-old cathedral is being mourned so, they just have to look beyond the stones and timbers, into the lives of generations of families who made it so.

Headlines of the Day: “City of Lights has its darkest night.”

Thinking of the world love for the Cathedral Notre Dame, I’m wondering if eating hot dogs also makes you a Frankophile?

Bugs Bunny is an Easter rabbit with fleas.

The real battle for the American mind is being waged by left wing and conservative groups funded by gobs dark money. Be wary of what you can’t see.

Tiger Woods has been named to receive the prestigious Presidential medal of Freedom. Some say he shouldn’t, but many athletes of his dominance have already been awarded: From Babe Ruth to Stan Musial to Hank Aaron; from Michael Jordan to Bill Russell to John Wooden, from Jack Nicolaus and Arnie Palmer to Tiger(?). Pat Summit and Billie Jean King are winners as are Richard Petty and Mahammad Ali. Just 33 athletes in all.

If I had a choice, I’d name Althea Gibson and Babe Didrikson.

Dems who can’t get beyond the hate in their hearts were irate that Bernie would show up on Fox News. But any intelligent person would applaud a candidate wading into deeper waters, the so-called foreign territory to inform a broader voting public. A lot of candidates and columnists throw raw meat to their faithful, and wallow in the returned acclaim. That’s great if you need ego boost, but not so hot for broadening your base. Too many political experts and pundits think there is impenetrable armor surrounding all of these newly defined tribal groupings, but it just isn’t so. People still have minds, and to get inside them you have to be where they are. It’s not rocket science to understand that there are many conservative democrats who see beyond the single party platitudes. And, Vice-versa.

A mischievous Easer Egg is a practical yolker.

Buying a quart of milk could make you an untouchable in the new world of instant communication. That is, if you walk past a Stop & Shop strike line to buy it. Apparently, every person going into the store to buy something is being photographed and uploaded, and designated basically evil person by a Union social media operation. Shoot me.

Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--It seems like it’s been forever that I have been watching the previews for “Breakthrough”. It is a story of a mother’s faith and an apparent miracle that brought back her son from death. While critics have troubles using the word “God” in their reviews, that is what it is all about plain and simple – prayer and faith. I may or may not see it, but it’s not about the story line. It’s just that the movie didn’t look that hot to me.
--The new Disney Penguins probably does not add that much new to the previous super popular live documentary Penguins film. Still though, Penguins are cute. This one adds a name of a character, and singles out his exploits before attempting to matte and have a family. Probably pleasant to watch for awhile.
--In “Little Woods”, two formerly estranged sisters are faced with the potential of a foreclosed mortgage on their recently deceased mom’s house and one in the last days of parole for drug running must fight for herself and her unplanned pregnant sister as  urges to return to her past life as a drug runner to pay for it plague her thought process. I don’t know about this latest dysfunctional melodrama.

The Answer:
Moses s the figure who led the Jews away from Egypt. As an infant he was singled out for death by Egyptions but saved buy a princess who made him a member of the royal Court. He learned of his true heritage, left and lived 40 years as a shepherd. He was told by God to return to liberate the Jewish people. Moses promised Ten plagues if the Jews were not set free – Turning Nile River red with blood, diseased livestock, boils, hailstorms and three days of darkness culminating with the death of every first-born son. The Israelites however were to mark their door frame with the blood of a lamb so the Angel of Death would pass over the household.

As the bunny said to the carrot, it’s been nice gnawing you today.

Today is Wednesday of the week before Easter.
