Church

Today's Tids Issue 4,696

Having a conscience:

Silly me, but I have been thinking that coincidentally along with the rise in disobedience, the strange new concept that laws are meant to be broken, that private property is up for grabs, selfishness, gimmie-gimmie-gimmie and all around me-only rudeness, there has been a serious decline in church going. You know, where you learn about basic principles of giving to others, respecting others, caring for others. Just one thought that seems have a lot of truth to it.

De Culture Department:

De-politicize Science. That’s a new rallying cry from people who want unbiased discussions about everything; my scientist against your scientist. But, try to depoliticize anything during this strangest of all American pastimes – electing a new president and congress members. Thousands of people are paid multimillions for their expertise and special talent which is mainly to disparage others. La de dah de dah de dah. Defund media consultants!

Our government borrowing preposterous sums of money to compensate for an economy ripped by the virus only leads to licentiousness and appalling incompetence at almost all political levels. Give politicians a dollar, and they will lose their ability to create, except when the need arises to get another dollar.

Superfluous: A bad case of the flu.

The Question:

Who are considered the greatest of all time Film Score composers?

The Headlines:

--News About New Stimulus Plus New Advancement For Vaccine Have Stocks Opening Higher; Nasdaq Hits Record High.

--EU Announces Large $2 Trillion Corona Virus Deal To Rebuild Europe’s Economy.

--Despicable Judge’s Family Shooter Is Strange “Men’s Rights’ Lawyer Roy Den Hollender.

--Supreme Court Declines Dem’s Request To Fasttrack Trump Financial Info Release.

Like a lot of people, I marvel at scenes around me. The beauty of God’s nature, but what stirs me most is the wonderment I see in a person’s giving heart.

I walked down to our 17th century docks this morning and enjoyed the hustle bustle of workers testing ringing, polishing, loading and unloading. I imagined our hard-working forefathers working the waterfront to sustain the economy of an island community. But today it is getting ready for another day of tourists and sightseeing.

But regardless of their purpose from century to century, some of the early 19th century sail ships are still wonders to behold.

Duh headline of the week: “It’s hot!”. I write this every late July. It gets hot in July. Every year. Like clockwork.

Our Governor seems to spend most of her time trying to get money from the Feds. You might hope that the Covid situation would have her thinking that perhaps there is something intrinsically wrong with the state economy, and maybe her energy would be better spent trying to alter the course for future generations.

Smile: A curve that can set a lot of things straight.

Chicago’s Freedom to Murder society is horrendous, but sending in federal troops to stop it is just plain un-American.

Nudists like a good bare market.

Who has the most to gain if we shut down the country again? Easy. Democrats. They prefer government giveaways over a robust economy, which incidentally would be best for Repubs in the fall. Except, of course, those who stay safe from Covid.

I just gotta hope that most people understand that getting something from the government for doing nothing is not the American dream. Nor should it be the dream of any human.

Have you noticed that Joe Biden doesn’t really stand for anything except, Trump bad?

A crowded, big canoe paddle sale is an oardeal.

I have to believe that in that cellar somewhere Biden has sold his soul to Bernie, and other leftists like Omar, who along with other prominent Muslims just agreed to endorse Joe.

The Answer:

#1 is Ennio Morricone who was prolific from The Thing to Cinema Paradiso to The Good The bad and The Ugly.  He is followed by John Williams (Star Wars, ET and many more), Hans Zimmer (Pirate of Caribbean, Crimson Tide and The Lion King), Danny Elfman (Spider Man, Batman, Dumbo and Good Will Hunting), Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffaney’s, Pink Panther and more), Jerry Goldsmith (Another prolific composer includes Rambo Franchise, Jurassic Park, Hoosier and Planet of the Apes), James Horner( Titanic, Star Trek 2), Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, Hobbit), Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forest Gump) and John Barry (111 Bind Films, Out of Africa, Dances with Wolves). I thought Elmer Bernstein, at #24, should have been higher, even just for Man with the Golden Arm. There’s a lot of talent writing movie scores, that’s for sure. And great music certainly makes average plots come alive. Maybe I should hire a composer.

Here’s to Ennio, for melodies that let you dream.
