Values beneath the bullhorns:
A hardy Tids welcome to several new readers. Now the pressure is on the editors to keep this mess lively and interesting. Yikes!
If you walk 8,000 steps but forget your fitness watch, are you still healthy?
I had several restaurant meals over the weekend that featured rich creamy delicious gravy. It’s nice to see that some aspects of the USA are still intact.
Just in case your pet pig gets a rash, you should always have plenty of Oinkment on hand.
Is the stock markets’ surge today the last hurrah before really, really ugly earnings start being reported?
The Question:

The two senators and two congressmen who make up the RI congressional dictation are in favor of Washington DC Statehood. Are they nuts! The only thing left that RI has going for it is its status as the smallest state. No more. How about this for DC. Have all the Government buildings and monuments that represent America defined as within the Federalized District, and all residential neighborhoods beyond that designated as Virginia or Maryland depending on which state is closer. The people get their vote and life goes on And RI is still number One! H ow hard is that.
Oldies but Punnies, Department:
--I was reading a book about helium. I couldn’t put it down.
--So, there was the mediocre orchestra leader who was arrested and sentenced to death for shooting his percussionist for missing a cue. He was led to the electric chair and strapped in. The warden pulled the switch but nothing happened. He was a bad conductor.
Over the weekend well over hundred US citizens were shot and several dozen were killed in big city neighborhoods across the country. Chicago once again led the way, but NYC had one of its own deadlier weekends. Atlanta, Detroit, Philly, Memphis, Baltimore and several other cities also had tragic 4th’s. Many of the dead were children. The black Atlanta mayor said, “None of these people were killed by police. She said they were just people, often randomly killed in their neighborhoods. I think there is a problem here that needs a spotlight.
A local observer of our city says that we are in danger of becoming Yogi Berra town -- Nobody goes there any more because it’s too crowded.
I tried to write moving poetry, but I couldn’t come up with a rhyme for U-Haul.
The Answer:
Tenzin Gyatso is the 14thand current Dalai Lama. Actually, his full name is Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso. Friends call him Tenzin. Bonus: John Adam, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe all died on July 4th. Calvin Coolidge was born on that Birthday of the USA,
This was a short one for a Monday. Must not be much that is repeatable going on.
