Today's Tids Issue 4,707
We'll get there:
A lot of industries, performing arts, leisure businesses and institutions are pretty much conceding that it could be at least two years until they can get back to what was considered normal. If they survive.
So, did you hear about the guy who was shot with a starter’s pistol? They say it was race related.
Massachusetts and Connecticut just placed their little neighbor Rhode Island on the banned list. I’m thinking that if in fact RI Covid case are on the rise, it’s because of the way Conn and Mass tourists are overrunning our beaches and seaside towns. It’s the old chicken or egg thing all over again.
All results from last night’s primaries are slow to come in. But in Kansas there was a good victory for Repubs. Senate candidate Roger Marshall beat he unlikable Kris Kobach, who Dems were eying as easy fodder for their Candidate. In fact, it is known that a Dem linked Super PAC spent $5 mil backing a Kobach win. In the Dem Congressional Primary there, progressive BLM candidate Cori Bush Beat the Incumbent. Progressives are making big strides in the US Congress. The tally for Rashida Tlaib is not in yet. She was considered vulnerable. It seems that slow returns maybe the new norm in future elections. Actually, Hillary is still waiting for a better count.
The Question:
What US City had the first electric traffic light system?

I’m thinking that wearing a mask to church isn’t so bad. Nobody can tell if you don’t know the words to songs and prayers.
The frost PGA Major of the year, the PGA Championship, begins tomorrow at the tough PGA Harding Park golf course in San Francisco. Tiger says he feels ready. But so does Koepka. But, if you have been following tourneys this year, there are many who could walk away the winner including word #1 Justin Thomas. Former #1 Jason Day has been very strong lately. He’s my sentimental favorite. But thee are so many more – Rahm, Dechambeau and the new kid on the block Collin Morikawa, who may surprise. I might have included Rory McIlroy as my a favorite, but he has lacked real competitive urgency lately. Despite the lack of fans, there has been some very exciting golf this year.
I get a lot of my news Items from BBC News. I find a lot of stuff there that the US media just ignores in favor of their hysterical report of the day. One thing BBC News does is fact check both Trump and Biden.
Don’t look now, but the far-left candidates continue to make a lot of progress in Congressional races. I believe the master-plan focuses on taking offices at state and more importantly, big city levels. Cities, where the progressive voter base lives. We have some doozies here in Providence. Let’s hope they never see congress. That’s the RI State motto, “Hope”.
I have always thought that many class action suits were a big scam. I received notice of one this morn. It was from Google and it centered on their Google+ Site where for quite a while my Tids blog resided. The good news, they say, is that they have agreed to a $7,500,000 settlement. After lawyers and expense and payments “maybe” of $1500 to the four originators of the suit, I could possibly get $12, if I can figure out to fill out the complex forms. I think I’ll take a pass.
I watch some of these local left leaning pols in action, and they just plain ignore clear facts. And the worst part is that their adherents s go along with it. I hope there is somebody left to fight it in the future.
The Answer:
Beautiful Cleveland on the shores of magnificent Lake Erie had the first electric traffic light system. The Midwest is known as the breadbasket, but its cities wire often the innovation core of the good ole’ USA.
The sun always shines brightest after a storm. No matter the horror of the storm. Life pretty much is that way if you don’t fight it.
