Today's Tids Issue 5,256
Headache:
It appears to me that the great national argument boils down to “Your president is worse than my president.” How fruitless. How sad for America.
We have a couple of good Tids groaner contributors. New today: “Don’t be worried about your smart phone or TV spying on you. Your vacuum has been gathering dirt on you for years.
China and Russia having massive military exercises together is not a happy thought.
Speaking of depressed, it is becoming an embarrassing to wear my Red Sox hat these days. I’m just hoping that it isn't a precursor for my Patriots’ hat. Actually, that is poetic license. I don’t wear a Pats hat because I don't like the logo. But I do wear my love for Pats on my sleeve.
My girlfriend walked out on me for being too old fashioned. I thought we had good alchemy.
The Question:
Today is National Harper Day. Why? Have oyu he ever seen a harper or played harper or danced the harper? Or none of those? Why do we have a Harper Day?
The Headlines:
--“The Powell Sell-Off" Continues; Stock Markets Open lLower, Continue Down Through Mid PM.
--Ukraine Making Progress With New Surge In South.
--Russia And China Commence Huge Military Games Effort In Eastern Russia.
--US Credit Scores Continue To Remain At Historic Highs.
I don’t think this is a very fun tids.
Ideological warfare is becoming a farce as too many strong unwavering opinions are based on cursory information. Nighttime political entertainment has jumped the shark.
Repubs better wake up to the potential of a “Red Wave” ebbing.
The Tids actually has a Rock n’ Roll expert, who just happens to live in Cleveland near the Hall of Fame. Yesterday after listening to the Ronnette's tune, she wrote to say, “Ronnie Spector was the original bad girl of rock and roll. Survived abuse by Phil Spector. Fought for years for royalties she finally received many years later. Sadly, passed last year.”
One of the most embarrassing things in life might be having your hoarder girlfriend get rid of you.
Responsibility, Department:
The tids has been against government bailouts since the beginning of this mess over 20 years ago. And that not only includes the current tuition debt issue but also the bailouts of Wall Street in 2007-8. Systems won't work if the government keeps stepping in with artificial adjustments. When there is no risk with consequences, people make stupid decisions – from financial kingpins or kids in college.
I'm not surprised that the real Rachel Williams is sung Netflix for their movie, “Inventing Anna”. That’s what the movie was all about, her greed and dishonesty.
Powell's words must have said to Wall Street, get ready for a recession. Because it wasn’t a surprise that the Fed would raise rates.
I had a little typo yesterday that may have changed the tenor of my little opening mood expression. You saw, “A piece of music is playing. It feels like the green of Irish sod. It feels like glistening eyes, And happy smokes.” That was supposed to be “Happy Smiles.” But as one person wrote, you may have been drifting along because of “Happy Smokes?” So, there is a typo that works, kind of.
What is Federal Weatherization? Well, it is coming back. It is The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) which actually began in 1976. It is offered by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) as a free service to eligible low-income households. It helps families reduce overall energy costs by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes. In an article by Eric Felton (RCP), “Cloudy with a chance of Fraud” he lays out the problems of this new Billion-dollar program that’s grown from $300+K. It’s another of those Government “Big pile of Money” things that lures all kinds of opportunists, few who have the benefits for people concept in their heart. It’s a system the begets shell companies and phony invoices. It is just too big and too unwieldy to manage correctly. And sometimes too tempting to Fed managers...some who have turned the bushels of bucks into their own take it and run schemes. “In a private meeting in February, the Energy) department’s inspector general, Teri L. Donaldson, warned Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm that the enormous new budget for the program – slated to grow to $1 billion a year from $315 million – threatens to overwhelm the department’s ability to protect taxpayers’ money. In April, the inspector general made that warning public with a memo to Secretary Granholm cataloging the risks to the money being entrusted to the Department of Energy. Donaldson identified a history of problems with the program, noting that “few administrative remedies such as suspensions and debarments were made for the multitude of problems that occurred and were identified.”
Sorry, that was so long.
Just think about the reported fraud associated with some of the recent Covid give-away programs. It is just what it is, the Fed Big Pile Of Money Syndrome that has thieves jumping in.
The couple's therapist said, “So, tell me what brings you here today?” My wife said, “It’s really difficult to live with him. He’s so literal.” I said, “My truck.”
The Answer:
National Harper Day is nothing more than a celebration of the family name “Harper” Crazy.
EV Giant Elon Musk said Friday, “Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately “Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures. Obviously, this would negatively affect Tesla, but sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil & gas exports.”
The point here is that the change must be evolved. No matter how much the anti-Petro economy people scream you can't rebuild the world in a day. Ask God.
