Ah February, rime and rhyme

Today's Tids Issue 5,440

Never happens:

Do you feel your heart beating? It’s February this morning and the 14th is just two weeks away. It is the month when even hardened souls feel romance? Or maybe we love the idea of celebrating the birthdays of two great Presidents, George Washington and Abe Lincoln. Of course, our new trophies for all society wants it to be President’s Day. At least we haven't changed Punxatawny Phil Day to “Burrowing animals' day”... yet. This month leap children get a year older, so that is another reason why February is the happy month. I actually like February. It's a great month for poets. It makes me smile. And by Feb I am pretty much inured against the cold. In fact, a forty-degree day makes me feel sloggy. So happy February morning, everybody. Snuggle in and enjoy the thrill of romance, or a president of your choice.

Well, love is certainly one of the greatest attributes, most fulfilling consequences of being alive. But can love alone fix the national debt, the timebomb ticking that nobody wants to understand. Too big they say, so just let me jump back into the hole with a friendly groundhog. “In 2000, the total federal debt sat at 54% of the gross domestic product (GDP). That was less than the 60% that experts believe is “safe.” Today, that number has exploded to 120% and is increasing rapidly, creating the possibility of a disaster of historic proportions.” The national debt is so far beyond the thoughts of just about everybody. Politicians hate the thought because the only way around it is the reduction of entitlements. You know, the thoughtless giveaway promises that help them get elected.

Wives complain a lot about husbands not hearing what they say. What they don’t fully understand is the audiological interference of the potato chip crunch. Yes, crunchy snack foods do pose a danger to a man's health.

The Question:

AmeriSport went public today. Name five of the company's well known American brands?

Social media has not been great for society, and certainly not good for the rational maturation of children or their safety in their own homes. I'm glad the bigs in the industry were held under the spotlight before congress for all the world to see. But the world also saw who they really were, with staged apologies minus any sincerity.

A lot of restaurants are touting “Locally Sourced” foods. But do we really know if they have crappy farmers in the area, or not.

Speaking of regionality, financial observers are suggesting we keep an eye on Regional Banks for signs of commercial real-estate meltdowns and other problems in local areas where high interest rates make stability vulnerable.

Reycling is big in Anmerica. And I’m not talking bottles, bags and newspapers. I'm talking about Baseball managers and political hacks who never seem to leave no matter what they do. And one of teh most ubiquitous recycled hacks is John Podesta who was just named Green Man replacing John Kerry. Yes, Kerry, another well-known recycled pol. He is finally gone... or is he?

Did you know that if you want to go up to the 86th floor or 102nd floor of the Empire State Buidling to take a selfie it will cast you $44 and $79 respectively! Going where tourists go generally means going to an ATM fast and often. And that ls about it.

I thought Mike Vrabel would have an NFL coaching job by now.

Providence College last night gave mighty #1 UConn Basketball all it could handle, close up to the last minute. PC lost a super star a few weeks ago, and they are showing a lot of guts and good coaching bouncing back. They have an attitude that could make a difference come tournament time.

Duh Actual Headline of the Day, Department:

“Why is Biden suddenly changing his position and now willing to close down the southern border to all?” It’s election year, stupid.

We may be entering the greatest era for the highest demands of electric power in history. And it isn’t for charging stations for EVs. It is for the rapid build out of AI Data s centers which will try to suck electricity reservoirs dry. We'd better be breeding a lot of athletic hamsters to keep those treadmills running.

The Answer:

Ameri-Sports is corporate name for a company that has accumulated a roster of some of America's iconic sports brands – Louisville Slugger and Wilson are two big names. They are also big in the ski industry with Salomon, Atomic, Peak Performance and Armada (Zero). Their ENVE composites is top line for rugged cycling. In addition to the historic Louisville Slugger, they also make Demarini bats and Evo Shield protective hitting equipment.

Hint: If you have a new girlfriend, don't give her a heart shaped box of chocolates you bought on sale a year ago at CVS or Walgreens. Unless you replace the chocolate first.
