In a vice.

Today's Tids Issue 5,621

Wind swept cliffs:

Rational honest economists will tell you that both Trump’s tariff scheme and Kamala’s give-away mortgage boondoggle are loaded with collateral damage for the USA economy.

The word “fact” has been eviscerated in the hands of manipulative politicians and their handlers. Remember when we had the truth and people cared about it.

So far, the new College Football power leagues are looking like any other bell curve.

A good friend was telling me the other day that one great skill to develop for personal growth is “Improv”. Like joining an improv group and being forced to create spontaneously something out of nothing. Yikes! That’s my life!

The Question:

Other than Hawaii, what are considered the best USA Islands?

The Headlines:

--Stock Markets Iffy this Morning looking out to Friday's CPI and Fed Speakers During the Week.

--Congress Reaches Deal to Fund USA Overspending Until December.

--Israel Warns Lebanon Citizens to Move Out of the Way or be Blasted; War in Middle East Ratchets Up with latest Lebanon Air Strikes.

--Mass Shooting in Birmingham that Killed 4 and Injured 17 was Originally Targeted “Hit” on One Person.

--Harris Pushes for Second Debate; Advisors to Trump Say He Will Bend and accept -- “He Needs It”.

--Gulf and SE IS States Being Warned of Impending Hurricane.

I was in the advertising business and had to suffer the slings and arrows that come from the mischaracterizations by the unknowledgeable as an industry of charlatans and hucksters. But now at last we have politicians who are making hardworking advertising look saintly.

Nothing makes me madder while watching TV news than reports of Activists against police just doing the best they can at their jobs in almost always super dangerous situations. Scatterbrain Pols like Walz and Harris contributed to accuser mania with their support of antipolice rhetoric fostering anything goes era for tirades of madman.

College football analyst Ken Schreiber says that today's rankings   are making networks happy by “legitimizing illegitimacy”.

If you pullout a CD or going online you can generally find something pleasant when the name Camille Saint Sans name is on the title.

But a movie star’s name on a movie will never induce me to watch any movie. For me it is always about plot, and I don’t care about the director or if the cast are all unknowns; not about acclamations of critics or the gushing of cast members promoting it on daytime TV Talk.

According to a good friend, she has seen the beginning ever so faint of the war between machines and humans – she dropped a Cheeto on the floor and her Roomba beat her to it. Disgusting.

Personally, I think that the new idea of proliferating absentee balloting is one of the worst things in the history of American Politics

When George Washington riding astride would jump over a fence it was “Air Horse One”. (Thanks to Jumble for this interlude.

The invasion of tourists in towns and cities around here has the locals praying for rain.

The latest Mike Lindell (My Pillow Guy) was about everything is for sale for $25. That sounds like a bankruptcy liquidation to me. his company was devasted as the result of his post 2020 election rhetoric.

Nobody likes football more than I. but the proliferation of the college version on TV is out of control. And the worst thing about it is that it totally blots out local and network news on Saturdays. Oh yeah and Cable news doesn't make it for me as a substitute.

I think Trump is a big government guy too. The election in reality seems to be a choice about which way you want big government to go. Socialism is the wrong choice.

We had 22 days of perfect temperature, sun-filled weather and yesterday it rained, and everybody started complaining about the weather. That my friends is the kind of world we live in now. Nobody remembers history.

Surprises make me smile.

Or not. The TidsPickers are 7-7 after the weekend with two games tonight, Thanks a lot San Fran! And where did Carolina come from? Thier cushy victory yesterday makes the NE Pats, my beloveds, look like the league doormat this morning.

Yesterday Trump said, “If he loses, it will be his last campaign.” He is either being truthful and seeing big losses in the numbers behind the scenes or he is telling America that this is your last chance to vote for me so make it count.

The Tids Punster Laureate wrote to say he mixed Mexican alcohol with American literature last night and wound up with Tequila Mockingbird. Ouch.

The Answer:

I have eliminated four Hawaiian Islands from the top ten. Hilton Head, Kiawah SC and Amelia Fl are 1,2,3 ahead of the first Hawaiian Island Maui. The Hawaii=less top ten are Nantucket, Sanibel, Mackinac Mi, Block Isle RI, Marco Fl, Martha's Vinyard and Key West. This is from a list by Conde Nast. An HGTV list also has, in addition to those above, Fire and Shelter in NY, Santa Catalina, Galveston and Mustang in Texas,  and Mount Dessert in Maine. There is Sea Island and Saint Simons in Georgia and Ocracoke in NC and Chincoteague in Va. Washington's San Jaun islands, and Orca Islands are really nice too.

Happy Island hopping everybody. I'll never forget the first tiem I saw Old Harbor in Block.
