We will again.

Today's Tids Issue 5,622

After all, we are us:

Everybody should be taking classes about how to read between the lines.

Most news is about an infinitesimal part of society.

I think that Israel needs a better “Targeted” attack system.

“I had some eyeglasses. I was walking down the street when suddenly the prescription ran out.” --Steven Wright

The Question:

What are the most commonly used US Navy vessel names.

The Headlines:

--Stocks Open Higher then Sink; Consumer Confidence Report Expected to be Positive to be Released Later; Investors Hear Fed Rate Cut Dissenters Governor Michelle Bowman say She's Concerned 50 Point Cut Indicates Fragility of Economy.

--Zelenski Says Peace with Russia is Closer Than we Think.

--Israel-Hezbollah Firing Reignites after Yesterday’s Deadliest Day.

--Florida Bracing for Helene; Tropical Storm Raging in Caribbean would Become Major Hurricane Hitting Flerida Gulf Coast.

--China Central Bank Initiates Aggressive Stimulus Policy to Spur Economic Growth,

--Trump Says he will pen Federal Lands to Induce Foreign Manufacturing Investment.

Is there anything inaner than these celebrity in the news columns?

You just gotta know that China and Russia and even Iran are just loving sitting back seeing the USA get sucked into the Middle East skirmishes.

Regardless of what statistics say, in reality it still costs too much for average daily needs. One way to see that is by the way twenty-dollar bills disappear so rapidly.

The Voice returned last night. I won't get into it until they sort it out a little more. But you have to admit it can be therapy for a mind clogged by the writing of the Presidential campaign.

Do you get the feeling any more that America is only all about parties and entertainment.

Oh yeah, the result of the eternally tedious AGT come to an end tonight. It will be a star-studded night, and you may even enjoy their performances if AGT Emcee Terry Crews doesn't ham it up too much. The favorite to win it all is Richard Goodall followed by a tie between the wonderful quick-change artist Solange Kardinally and Sky Elements with their amazing Drone light show. Odds makers and critics are talking of the Dog act surprising again. It's better than last year's loser dog act champion, but there are far better acts to consider. I like dogs a lot... but.

A reader found an old Confucius quote in a state department folder: “Import third world immigrants, expect third world problems.”

I remember that I could watch the WWII documentary “Victory at Sea” endlessly.

Most people only know what they know based on the environment in which they live.

Do you ever wonder if people who you knew decades ago ever suddenly find you popping into their minds? Yes, I think you do that as you get older.

In my world, putts have to make up for short drives.

“If you had a million Shakespeares, could they write like a monkey?”  Steven Wright

The Answer:

1451 names have been used at least twice, 470 at least 3 times, 182 four times, 83 five times and 20 six times. Here are the nine names that have been used seven or more times: Boston and Shark 7 times; Enterprise Hornet, Morris, Niagra and Washington 8 times; Wasp 9 times; Ranger ten times.

Imagine crushing windswept waves, mighty cruisers, destroyers plowing though. Think of men and women running to battle stations as horns screamed, And how suddenly skies were greyed by hordes of planes; plane after plane attacking. Relentlessly. But our sailors held fast. And eventually the skies brightened even as we lost so many. Yet we survived. Because so many took to the seas to save what is so great about freedom. And we will again. We will find a way.
