Heads, it’s yes.

Today's Tids Issue 5,833

Weekend Watch:

We are into days sweltering

I'm into A/C confined sheltering.

Well, that Karen Read trial that somehow gained rabid national fanaticism is over... except of course for the Book and TV movie and the assorted promotions to restimulate the adherents. Aaah, the great American money machine.

It seems that lately I have been bombarded by TV ads urging averting or treating gambling addiction. Be careful, they all say. There's help out there, they affirm... after sports gambling companies lure them in with free money. Do you get the feeling that now the lawyers are in charge.

The cow that ate bluegrass mooed indigo.  (Glen Miller told me that)

The Question:

What are the Elysian fields?

Back in 1946 the New Orleans Elmers CheeWee company brought out the first crunchy cheese snack, a definite forerunner of the addictive Cheetos genre. Somehow around 1948 my parents got their hands on a can of those delectable morsels.  I was hooked for life. I spent years seeking that holy grail of yumminess. CheeWee was officially a brand of the Elmer Candy Company which was founded in 1855 as Miller Candy, becoming Elmer Candy in1919. In 1939 the Elmer Brothers invented a cornmeal-based Cheese Curl, and in1946 it was introduced to the happy snack lovers. BTW, Stop n’ Shop Supermarket has a pretty tasty version of this vegetable based necessary evil.

How many DIY buffs does it take to change a light bulb? One, but it takes two weeks and four tripe to the hardware store.

From what I'm reading, China is exporting way more EVs than the world can absorb and they don’t seem to care. I guess that’s the difference between Capitalism and Socialism.

Rabbits think I'm growing flowers for them. Bunnies aren’t cute anymore. I’ll get them.

Vets prescribing birth control pills for dogs are part of an anti-little campaign.

So, in closing on this somewhat muggy day we have fog surrounding some pretty important global decisions. You won't bring Iran to its knees with hyperbole. They may succumb to bunker buster bombing. And Israel will be happy. But Iran is allied with North Korea and to a degree China and Russia. In my estimation, China doesn’t want to be involved in a deadly morass. And Russai has too much on its hands with Ukraine. But North China and Russia could call on NK as a surrogate. Nothing is clear. But for sure there are a lot of interlocking alliances going on here. And nothing sounds easy to me. The biggest problem may be that we are dealing a Middle East Muslim Mindset, which does not compute within western world rationale. And I haven’t sen our European allies jumping up and down in support. It is a puzzlement.

I think I did a better job analyzing cheese curls.

Why don’t pirates take a shower before they walk the plank? They just wash up on shore.

The Answer

In Greek Mythology Elysian Fields (Also known as Elysium) is a paradise like afterlife for the heroes and virtuous. Elysian Fields in in Hoboken New Jersey also gained fame in baseball lore. In the 1830’s and 40's that broad expanse of parkland became a favorite ball yard for NYC area aficionados of the emerging pastime of Baseball. In fact, a game there where the in 1947 where the New York Nine defeated the New York Knickerbockers.is considered teh first official organized Baseball game. Alexander Cartwright who helped formulate the rules of America’s Pastime was a member of the Knickerbockers and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938 as a contributor to the development of the game.

Well, that's it, folks. Let's hope the coin lands on the right side.
