Today's Tids Issue 5,836
We are one:
This week is speeding by.
With heat making me fry
You might say, a hot flash.
And hope that A/C doesn't crash.
I know it's from sun because,
I know I don't have menopause.
How appropriate is this hot humpday where I seem to see camels coming up my street like a desert mirage/
The only thing “Smart” appliances do is complain while older appliances just did the work without whining for generations.
Jeez, the Tids is off to an awful start
The Question:
Why is a group of crows called “Murder”?
The Headlines:

It seems to me that Trump should be sharing more of this Iran event with Congress, even it iis entirely legal for him to go it alone.
A guy named Zohran Mamdani won the NYC Mayor Dem primary over Andrew Cuomo last night. The victory by this out oof nowhere avowed socialist is being called an earthquake. Itis expected that Repubs wot ll use his Progressive zeal to paint him as the face of the National Dem Party. He is for free just about everything and has even proposed city run grocery stores. He was endorsed by AOC and would be the first Muslim Mayor of NYC. National politics junkies are watching this one with salivating interts.
It has been reported in a study from the University of the Witwaterand in Johannesburg that around 250 million years ago there roamed the earth well before monster ruthless dinosaurs even bigger nastier predators called gorgonopsians. So, the good news is that evolution is making living things on earth nicer over time. So there is hope for no war or rush hour anger someday.
Speaking of evolution, there awas a video circulating of a State Legislator sitting in the Regal Rhode Island State House in a T-Shirt scratching his rather prominent belly during a very serious budget vote meeting. When asked of leadership why he was allowed to look likeek that in a state legislature session, the Speaker of the House, a super powerful man, says. that is the way his constituents look, and he wants to represent them as they are. Here’s an odd idea: How about the elevates the standards for his constituents. Too often lately we lower standardsnot to embarrass people who abuse them.
So, God says to the black bird -- “You are a crow.” The crow smiles, he likes it. And God continues, “And when you are in a group it called a flock." A flock?”, the wily old crow questions. “Yeah, “says God. “Like Birds of feather stick together. Ah, smiles the crow -- “Velcrow. (You know of course that a group of crows is called a ”Murder”. But the joke flows better with flock.)
Cooper Flagg is big white kid who was born 30 miles west of Bangor Maine. He’s supposed to be hunting and fishing, not being in linea as the number one pick in the National Basketball Association draft. Kids in Maine just aren’t normally big-time basketball players. Skiers, Hockey players. Snowmobile Riders, yes. So, expect to be overwhelmed with stories than even Caitlin Clarke about Cooper Flagg, who is a realy, really good player and a great kid.
I used to think that all things must pass until I got stuck behind a school bus.
On the way home from golf today, Trump was speaking at a Press Conference following the Nato meetings. It seemed the international press was treating him well, and he was somewhat moderated. But then he went on and on and On. If he just knew when to get off the stage.
Btw, I don't capitalize all letters in terms like Nato because I don't want the Tids to look like a government report.
The Answer:
The term Murder to describe groups of crows seemed to have risen in the 15Th Century. There are many theories. One being that they are scavengers and eat corpses. Another that seems better is that crows have been known to kill other crows in a judge and jury procedure. In Germany, records show that crows are harbingers of death. Regardless, they are very intelligent birds.
I just re-read the Tids and it appears I have nothing to crow about today!
See you all in the morning.
