Curiouser.

Today's Tids Issue 5,964

The Grind:

When we stop looking out with love we see nothing,

In case you missed it, one week from today is Christmas We just got our annual ham from a great friend, so the celebration behgins.

What's the difference between a knight and Santa Claus? One slays a dragon and the other drags a sleigh.

I thought I’d awake this morning to a lot of headlines abouTrump's speech last night, but I saw none from multiple sources. That seemed odd for a publicized network speech. I didn't tune in but I did read he was going to send out Christmas bonus checks to the military which is a good thing for the soldiers and sailors and air people/.

The intrigue around recent shootings is growing. There is word now that the detectives working on the MIT Professor killing and the Brown U student murders have found a link between the two. That sounds subversive. Stay tuned.

The Question:

Which countries rank highest in their belief of elves and fairies and wee folk?

The Headlines:

--Techs Bolstered by Strong Profit reprt from Micron; Inflation Number Up Slightly Over November But Lower than Forecast; All Markets Rise after Inflation News; Dow Stumbles Lower at Closing

--Pope Leo Named Bishop Ronald Hicks to replace Outgoing NYC Cardinal Dolan.

--RFK Jr. Cuts Funding to American Academy of Pediatrics.

--Trump renames Kennedy Center, Trump-Kennedy Center.

--Appearing Before House Committee, Former Special Prosecuter Jack Smith Says He has Evidence Beyond Reasonable Doubt Against Trump Elections' Deceptions

This is the weekend when Saturday NFL games arrive and that means the prerssure to win is up. The TidsPickers didn't do themselves proud last week falling down to 8-8 which brings us to 146.5-72.5 (67%). There are many reasons this weeks picks will be tough mainly because so many are now desperate  Baltimore, Indy, Pitt, Houston, LAC, GB, Detroit, TB, Carolina and San Fran. I don’t think the Pats know theya are desperate. Only Denver has clinched. On the West Coast there are Three NFC teams probably in LAR, Seattle and San Fran. In FC south only one of two 7-7 teams, TB or Carolina will get in by winning their division. Ok Tonight is a classic battle between two 11-3 teams playing to go to the top of teh NFC West – Seattle against LA Rams. Seattle has been great, but I go Rams. The Saturday season begins with Philly and Washington and the key GB at Chicago contest. Philly Clinches with their win and da Bears stay on top beating the Pack. Ok, before getting to the other posers, I like Buff over Cleveland, a tough Saints team over the Jets, Houston over LV and San Fran over Indy... even though Indy is desperate. KC without the Magician should beat the TItans for pride sake. Taylor S at QB?

Continuing on, TB and Carolina are tied for the NFC South but they are both Mysteries. TB has been shocking; I'll take the Panthers. Dallas is pretty much out of it and the Chargers look really good lately. Go LAC. Minn is getting better and the Giants aren’t. I go Vikes in this nothing game. Another tossup nothing game is Miami and Cincy. Joe Burrow wants to make up for last week's fiasco. He will. I have no clue about the A teams, Arizona and Atlanta. Ill pick the Cardinals. Detroit and Pitt both need wins, Pitt has the better chance for Playoffs and they will find a way That leaves two tough picks – Denver- Jax and New England- Baltimore. Jax has been a good story this year, but Denver has been better. Unless they are resting players after clinching, and I don't think Peyton will, they will stymie Trevor., The Pats can clinch a playoff, but Baltimore is still in the hunt for a division title. The Ravens have looked great and crappy. I think they will take the Pats. Alas.

Theres nothing funny about disparaging former presidents the USA regardless if you agree with them or not. It’s a damn tough job.

MACA – Make America Caring Again.

The new NYC Bishop Hicks and Mayor Mamdani could become an interesting team in the Big Apple.

I keep seeing headlines this week with my name in big type -- “Hunt fo rBrown U Killer continues.” I guess I won't send that to Ancestry.com

Every day something tells me I'm out of touch, This  morning when it was announced that Mariah Carey's song, “All I want for Christams is you” just became the Longest running Number 1 Hit of all time. And I haven't a clue watt sounds like

But, as a younger talk show guy on the radio said last Monday, he is tired of Pop seasonal songs and enjoys Christmas Carols far better. "I can hardly wait to sing Adeste Fidelis, he said.

Do you know what really bothers me – critics. People who do nothing but find ways to criticize people who do something without knowing anythig about what it takes to do what needs to be done. They fester and grow on the internet lite termites in a house,

The news programs look dour because dour gets ratings.

Did you see that the Oscars including the dreadful Red-Carpet segment will be off the networks and streaming You Tube by 2029. How many Cable companies can withstand the assault on their customers. But if all the programming goes elsewhere, they will fold except for one thing – many provide the internet for the streamers. Right now, I think that elsewhere is annoying. Aah, the irony of progress.

The Answer:

Over one half of Iceland citizens considered that existence of elves and fairies is possible. The other most elf believing countries are Sweden Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Iceland has an elf trail to walk.

Happy song of the day:
