There is always light.

Today;s Tids Issue 5,961

Indomitable:

The star of Bethlehem has always seemed so bright, guiding us to the birth of the eternal light. Yet how dim is today as hatred seeps across the horizons; shackles the human spirit. How vitriolic are the words of leaders. How disturbing are the actions of the deranged. How many hearts are unable to see the beauty within all human beings.  Yet, knowing how dark the blackness can be we will waken again stronger, to see the light of love ablaze brighter than ever.

One of the great things about being outside in the below freezing cold is that it feels so much warmer when you come back insider.

The Question:

Name five things of relative global importance invented in a bar. Yes, what are the results of martini creativity.

The Headlines:

--Jobs Report In: Unemployment reaches Highest Point since 2021; 64K New Jobs Created in November Beat Estimates; November Report Shows Date from Cancelled October Report -- 105K Jobs Lost; Markets Opening Flat, But Dow Tumbles in Early Afternoon/

The biggest high-priced movie flops of the year are Thunderbolts, Snow White, Micky 17, After the Hunt, Christy, I Know what You did Last Summer, Springsteen, Elio, M3GAN 2.0 and The Smashing Machine. Many of these fims were loaded with high-cost Super Stars. For instance, the Julia Roberts movie After the Hunt was reported to have made $10,000,000 while Julia’s salary was $20 Million.

Judging by all the varied animal footprints I find in the morning snow, I'm thinking now I moved into a zoo and nobody told me.

I’ve always remembered from childhood the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale, the Emporer's New Clothes

It is really easy ot spend a hundred dollars these days and not termember what you got for it.

The other day at a bagel store I looked down and saw a quarter on the floor. I reached down and put it in the clerk's tip jar, saying, Your lucky day. She could have cared less.

One of my favorite movie scenes is the Eulogy episode in Waking Ned Devine.

We were talking the other day about towns we grew up in. All of us agreed and seemed to have experienced the same delightful childhood no matter how far away thetowns were from each other. So we decided our pleasant youthful days were not simply because of the town but because of the era in which we were raised.

Of course, we did have polio and duck and cover. But we got through it. It’s possible to get through things.

Josh Allen is a winner through and through. And Drake Maye in the Buffalo game last Sunday learned what experience means.

The Answer:

Yes, you have to unlock the gates to think beyond the ordinary. Things invented in Bars are The Guiness Book of Records, Southwest Airlines, The Pet Rock, The Square Typeface of Credit Card Numbers, The Ironman Triathlon, The US Marine Corps, Shark Week, BBuffalo Wings, Nascar and The Public Library.

Today's Happy Song, speaking of bars.
