Today's Tids Issue 5,968
Happy Christmas:
Happy Christmas Eve, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!! Tis will be a quickie and the old Tidster will be off tomorrow to fill his belly and laugh the day away.
But I get by with a little elf from my friends.
First one weekly chore – TidsPickin:
But as I said, I will make it all short. 10-6 last week brought us to 156.5-78.5 (66.599%. So onward... The Christmas games are significant for two reasons. One is becaue it is one more step towards more evidence of the inevitability of a TV future without networks of the past – all are on streaming channels Netflix and Amazon. Number two, they are all loser games with nothing meaningful at all (Will the NFL have to give back money to the streamers?) -- Denver-KC may have been good but KC suddenly became awful. The Broncs win. Woeful Dallas takes on woeful Washington, with the Cowboys being a little less woeful. And the Sputtering Lions take on the sputtering Vikes in a who cares game with Derorit winning.
There are 5 games this week which have a lot of significance – Seattle-Carolina, Houston-LA Chargers, Chicago-San Fran, Buffalo- Philly... and Oh yeah -- The NY Giants versus the LV Raiders for the number one draft choice. I’ll stay with Seahawks, take SF, Pick Buffalo, and the tough choice is Hoston over LAC. Oh and the Giants win to lose the draft #1 pick. Of all the rest I have to pick over Ravens, Bucs over Dolphins, Steelers over Browns, Jax to keep it going over Colts, Saints over Titans, Cincy over Arizona, Rams over Falcons and I’m hoping Pats injuries or living on a gutsy win lats week doesn't keep them from beating the lowly Jets. It won’t. So, that's the housekeeping chore for today., There's no need for news or quips
It is certainly no day to talk about all the craparama around the world and in the US political entanglements. There is really only one thing to say this delightful day before the day... And I'll let the kid who has always said it so well each year in these Tids, say it again this year:
"I guess you were right, Linus. I shouldn't have picked this
little tree," said Charlie Brown. "Everything I do turns into
a disaster. I guess I don't really know what Christmas is
all about. Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas
is all about?"
"Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about,"
said Linus. [Linus walks to center stage.]
"Lights, please."
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding
in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the glory of the Lord shone round about them:
and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the
heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.
[Linus picks up his blanket and shuffles off-stage.]
And to you all, every one of you wherever you are, a very merry, wonderful and perfectly beautiful Christmas.
And finally, here is our very happy tune for today:
