Today's Tids Issue 6,014
Beyond the obvious:
Well, here I am! What are your other two wishes?
Yesterday the world's most valuable company, NVidia, posted powerful earnings and revenue results, solidly beating estimates. But the stock got hit because there is still doubt about the immediate viability and payoff for AI. Are we living in an era of suspicious overpromising?
Last night The Voice came back with a new Gimmick centered around battles between the return of three all time favorite Judges/Coaches – John Legend, Kelley Clarkson and Adam Levine. The idea was to produce a hysterical competition between the judges for points. It got tiresome. On the other side, there were several very good singers.
The Cuban shootout issue is beginning to look like Bay of Pigs junior. According to latest reports the Florida registered boat was loaded with Cuban nationals allegedly with an objective of infiltrating the Island Nation for the purpose of creating terrorist activity. It could be interesting when we learn more about this apparent fiasco.
Everybody longs to be more than just a number in a computer data file.
The Question:
We don't want Iran to get a nuclear Bomb. Name the countries that already have the Bomb.

There is a lot of news out there, and I read it all, that I have to consider suspect before I can get real data. So, I just wait and see. There is actually a juicy story developing according to all the networks, but it seems a little light on evidence to me.
What periphery industries will also benefit from the success of the Mag Seven type companies. There are investment opportunities there as hundreds of billions are being poured into necessary AI infrastructure like power generation products and construction and semiconductor processing equipment. Use your imagnation. There's always a new way to look at the big picture..
At SOTU, I think Trump probably regained some firm commitment from his hardened base. But I’m not sure about how well he did with the most important swing voters. A post Sotu Marist Poll reported that 43% of voter thought country was strong/very strong while 57% said it was not strong/not very strong. Obviously, like in most polls the two parties split predictably. But 68% of Independents joined most all of Dems to say the Country was worse off now than last year. 68% of Americans say they feel the system of “Checks and Balances” is not working. On the other hand, CNN’s analysis of reactions said Trumps Talk accomplished a lot. Most of the polls seemed to say that affordability is still the main issue and one the Repubs must be most aware of. Despite pronouncements and pundit statistics, people judge by what there wallets look like after shopping.
I don't think there will be any crocus for quite a while
A group of neighbors in Providence carved out a little cocktial lounge from a giant pile of snow by their homes – with table and good seating. Just great for a gathering with evening wine. No ice necessary. Don’t you love people who can on the bright side, turn inconvenience into fun?
It’s amazing how people who have to get to work find a way to get to work. It doesn't have to be as dramatic as the doctor who skiied to the Newport Hospital to deliver twins during the fiercest paart of the storm.
And how about those snowplow drivers who never seem to stop. And the linemen who are in frozen treetops getting power back on. I’ll take them all over the complainers looking for somebody to make a mistake. In the grand schem of blizzards the only thing to worry about is loss of power. The rest is incovenience that ends.
Kelley Clarkson doesn't look like Kelley Clarkson any more. Yikes! But she still makes me laugh.
The Answer:
The United States, Russia, China, France, UK, Pakistan, Israel, Indiw and North Korea. It’s estimated there are 12,500 to 13,000 warheads with us and Russia possessing 90% of them. That's kind of scary thinking that there are 13,000 nukes sitting around that could destroy humanity. I hope AI doesn't know where they are.
I was reminded of Elton John and Rocketman which reminded me of Jumpin’ Jack Flash. So, why not go back:
