The big antibiotic.

Today's Tids Issue 6015

Aaahhhh:

The Mayor of my town has his own pickup with a plow and he has spent the last several days out there with hundreds of city employees  moving snow, and encouraging them to keep on going.;Giving them a boost when the sleepiness sets in. Yes, local government is closer to the people.

The US will never be homogenous because people live in it.

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Alabama. Anybody with you? Nope. I’m Alabama self.

Amazon is an amazing company. They run a system that really works. And I have a hunch that whatever they need to do to meet the demands of an AI future, they will do it well.

The Question:

How many pizzas would you have to give up to save enough money to buy a new car in this economy?

The Headlines:

--Wholesale Inflation (PPI) Comes Hotter than Expected, 0.5% Actual Vs 0.3%; Big Miss Has Dow, S&P and Nas Open Tanking; Block Layoff of Half its Employees raises new AI concerns on the Future of Businesses.

--Netflix drops bid for Warner; Larry Ellison Backed Paramount Wins the Lottery Creating Giant Entertainment Complex.

--Pakistan Defense Minister Says his Country is In Open War with Afghanistan; Taliban Launched Offensive Against Pakistan Border Installations; Pakistan Replies by Bombing Kabul.

--Trump Mulling National Emergency Acclamation on Voting So Feds cTake over State Control of Voting

--US Hockey Str Brady Tkachuk Says White House AI Generated Media’ Put Anti Canada Words in His Mouth he Never s Said.; Tkachuk is a Canadian

The AI Angst is back on wall Street and it is all about a growing concern about the future of a broad range of service like Real Estate, Wealth management and Software for example. A company Named Block (formally Square) yesterday cut half its work force with co-founder Jack Dorsey saying that like his financial Technology company he expects many companies to make similar decisions the next year or so to achieve new levels of labor productivity. Remember, CEO’s are well known for following what look like good ideas. Especially when they see today's Block Stock price Bust-out. In casee you forgot, Dorsey co-founded Twitter along with Square.

A report aired on the Today Show said cheesy snacks cause cavities. Well, you know that P/R moment was the result of a push from groups who don't like tasty foods. So, I did some research on Veggie based snacks and found, “Despite appearing healthier, they (Veggie snacks) are packed with processed starches that breakdown into sugar in teh mouth feeding plaque and bacteria.” Do these studies only follow people who dont clean their teeth. I've eaten enough Cheezy snacks to pay for a Rolls Royce and can’t remember the last cavity I had. Some people might say it's because I don't have any teeth left.  Political food fights are a joke.

A new YouGov poll says only 37% of Americans celebrated Valentine’s Day. That's dis-heartening.

I like this statement by Netflix as they left the battle for Warner Brothers: “This transaction was always Nice to have’ at the right price, not a ‘Must have’ at any price.

Polls are saying now that more Americans are concerned about the division in the Country. Another YouGov poll shows what Americans think of themselves politically; 9% Far Left, 15% Left, 9^% Center left, 21% Center, 10% Center Right, 17% Right and 5% far right. 14% say they are not sure. Those extremes yell the  loudest. That's what everybody hears.

I’m sure we in the Northeast will now be more empathetic to those Midwestern and Western areas that get pummeled by snow regularly. Yes, I think a lot of people are looking forward to a balmy weekend.

Is there a medicine to treat cabin Fever? How about a walk in the sun.

The Answer:

The latest national average price for a new car in this country is $50,000 according to Kelly Blue Book. The average price of a pizza can vary regionally from $12 just under to $25. But the national estimated average is $17.50. This means if you gave up eating 2,857 pizzas you could get a nice car... whose value would drop by 714 pizzas in the first year. For every $1,000 you can lower the price of your new car, you can eat 67 pizzas. So, there you have it, the pizza economy at work.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

After a Hard week around here shoveling and sitting in rooms staring at walls, here's a little music that could have you

R heart pumping with entusiam:
