Snow job

Today's Tids Issue 6,011

One of a kind:

If you don’t get this, it means the big blizzard here has blown out the power. If you get it, it will be short as I hope to avoid unforeseen blockages.

Why can't we around here be as resilient as people from Buffalo who get bombarded with snow like this on a regular basis. Let's all put on our Buffalo capes and wing it.

Meanwhile, yesterday I watched the Red Sox play, and it felt real good. Not berceuse of the way they played but just the fact that watching baseball season is in earnest is just around the corner.

The Question:

What was the tallest structure in the world in1885? Bonus: How many Reeses PB Cups do you think they produce each day in the Hershey factory?

The Headlines:

Think of the picture tomorrow night: the Supreme Court Justices siting there in their robes and Trump up at the podium glaring Down. What will he ad lib? That is the anticipation.

The Olympics closed with the US winning more medals than Usual – one of their best years in history. The Canada/US Men's Hockey finale was Nailbiter just like the women’s. Overall, it seemed like a good Olympics. Teh final medal count was Norway 41 (18G), US 33 (12G), Italy 30 (10G). The rest in order were Germany Japan, France, Switzerland, Canada, Netherlands and Sweden completing top Ten.

As I get older and I remember all the people I’ve lost along the way, I think to myself, maybe a career as a tour guide wasn’t for me.

I love sports. I loved playing them when my arms and legs moved. I like watching them on TV. But suddenly there is just too much. Of course, it is about money.. The TV outlets overpay for the right to broadcast and tehy need to take up more of the available air space to get back the dough. On weeknds it is more annoying when endless games that all look the same preempt the news hour local TV. Over exposure of something have always loved is making me lock for alternative satisfactions.

By the way, have you noticed big national media entities like USA Today or Audacy and Westwood radio is taking over a lot of local media, It is not better, believe me. It is not an improvement,

Snowplow guys are saying storm ‘26 seems bigger than the legendary 78 Blizzard. But in 78 people drove cars and left them om the roads and walked away. As you can imagine it was aconfused mess for days. It seems this year people have paid attention to no driving. Maybe there is hope for us.

How come when I watch must see movies and TV series I flal asleep. I think people talk too much in movies these days.

I'm currently enjoying a series called “Unfamiliar" on Netflix. But it’s not Must See.

Worrying works! More than 90 percent of the things I worry about never happen.

The Answer:

The tallest structure in the world in 1885 was the Washington Monument at 550. It was completed after several delays in 1884 and formally opened in 1885.  Bonus: 25 Million Reeses PB Cups are produced every day to meet an overwhelming demand.. That's a lot of goodness emanating from Hershey Pa every day,

Well, I made it. Fingers crossed. How are you all doing in the storm? Hope all with a minimum of inconveniences. And I hope all of you in Fla are languishing happily in the choice you made. Just think if I was in Florida I would only have warm weather to write about. How Boring.

Thanks for listening,

The Management
