Counterbalancing.

Today's Tids Issue 6,112

Haunting:

Despite constant videos of people shooting people, the Murder rate in the USA is approaching its lowest point since 1900. Good news. Two major factors, community group efforts with teens and the dramatic reduction from the spike that occurred during Covid. The current historical low rate is 4 per 100,000 people. Regardless f the reason, safe living is good.

Pope Leo held a concert for Peace today. The choir consisted of childrenall from war-torn countries. It is a beautiful idea. No smoke and fireworks, just the light of love.

We've been reading a lot about the big push to normalize Crypto. Last year 17% of American portfolios owned crypto. Now it is about half of that, 9%. The average crypto ownership is about a thousand dollars with the mean being only about $200. In makes people with retirement savings nervous. Millennials and Z'ers are the main owners. $200 worth of Bitcoin is like a souvenir

It seems we are living in a Pelican economy. The bills are bigger than ever.

The last thing I want to get involved with is rehashing Fauci.

What do you call a dead pelican? A pelican't!

The Question:

What happened at Auvers-sur-Oise France?

The Headlines:

--Dow in Dumpster and Nasdaq diving as Oil Price Surges and AI bubble Leaks; WS Awaiting Fed Decisions; Nas Comes Bakc in Mid PM.

--Iran Attempts Surprise attack on US.

--Fauci Refuses to Answer Senate Questions.

--Four Women Accuse Actor Jared Leto of Criminal Sexual Assault.

--Kentucky Governor tells McConnell: "Proe/v you can Still Serve, or Resign."

If you're beginning to think things aren't like the Fifties anymore, check this out. Daily use of Marijuana has now passed daily use of alcohol in the US. The good news is we'll find fewer nips strewn in street side gardens. The Pot butts will become fertilizer produceg very happy flowers.

But, it doesn't make driving on the road any safer.

If smoking marijuana causes short-term memory loss, what does smoking marijuana do?

A lot of people were aghast at last week's Tidlet onthe runaway AI agent. But new info says it is worse. It didn't attack one site, in got into four others. Human hackers said it was clumsy, but because of its super speed and relentless need to meet its objective it found a way to break in where it wanted to break in. As Cyber Security expert Ritesh Patel says, "This is the reality of autonomous agents powered by frontier models: they are relentlessly persistent, sometimes highly noisy, and will try every possible path to achieve their goal, which can easily overwhelm traditional defenses." Many likened it to the line from Jurassic Park _- "They find a way.

Going to a restaurant alone makes me feel like a dinosaur in Jurassic Park. Everyone is just there to watch me eat.

There it is little substantiation to the rumor that the ever resourceful WeatherTech company is coming out with a new household line called "GrampsMats" They are designed to look handsome when inserted under the favorite chair of dads and granddads. They are designed to catch Cheetos, chips, popcorn and the favorite snack of the moment. And of course, a must for teh occasional spill of a favorite drink. Sports fans can get them with their favorite teams logo and as bonus, shorts to match.,\ And dads and granddads don't have to stand there with blamk stares saying, what Cheetos.

Fauci is taking the fifth which only makes the story more tantalizing to conspiracy theorists.

We live in a society

That rants and raves;

Where too many people

Look to make waves.

But me, I just sit back

And try hard to behave.

John Adams customarily served peas with his elaborate meals. I would have refused his invitation.

The Answer:

It was the hub for impressionist art with painters like Cezanne and Pizarro in the general area. But most notably, Van Gogh moved there seventy days before his death and painted feverishly, producing eighty paintings. It is where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot. He is buried there. A disturbed man but what a world of art he gave us. What an amazing collection of art.

Academy Award winning composer Glenn Hansard died yesterday in a crash. He was 56. He wonan Oscar for his song in the nice little movie "Once". Here it is.
