Today's Tids Issue 6,098
Towards the Crescendo:
The three-day 4th weekend begins tomorrow instead of stretching into Monday as do all the big three-day holidays. The reason of course, is to be able to shut down the DC Gov offices early so security preparations can be made for Saturday and the big Mall events. In New York City security will be even more demanding as not only is it the site of the big traditional celebration, but the city also has to get ready to handle the Taylor and Travis Marriage extravaganza. But, who knows, it is still only rumor.
It just doesn’t feel right in America to think that these days security is the most important thing.
Did you ever think when trying to match up pairs of socks, what if they don't like each other.
The jobs numbers are crazy. Yesterday they missed June estimates by 49.55% and they revised the big May number downward from 172 to 129K. So, this should be bad for those trying to make a living in the economy. But not for Wall Street who sees the decline as a reason to lower Interest rates. The Market is up, but as I often regurgitate, there is so much money around that the markets should be able to survive any and all technical indicators calling for a sell-off. Right?
The US Men’s Soccer team won their first Knockoff game last night for the first time in 24 years. You will feel the fever rise. Guaranteed.
The Question:
What are considered the five greatest American patriotic songs?
The Headlines:

My good pals and I played a game of hide and seek. It went on for hours... Well, good friends are hard to find.
In all the years past “Have a safe Fourth” always meant, don’t light a cherrybomb while holding it in your hand. Today it means check the roof tops for t sun gleaming off the muzzle of an automatic weapon, be suspicious of someone carrying a shotgun into a hot dog cookout.
Remember 1976 when the county was truly focused on the 200-year anniversary. And it worked out very well. But think about this weekend where we have Taylor Swift for some reason picking it for her wedding. Do you think the hordes of TS fans will be watching the President speak the Mall or for Wedding News? And this weekend will feature the buildup to the US Men's Soccer final 16 match with Belgium. It’s not asking too much is it Taylor... one day for America.
There's a lot of ways to spell Kiev, Kyve etc. But I go by the way Mussorgsky spelled it in his masterpiece “Pictures at an Exhibition,” Kiev.
How come there is a “D” in “fridge”, but not in “refrigerator”?
Frankly, I’ll be looking for the Boston Pops Charles River celebration witch I always have enjoyed most.
I’m not familiar with these digital payment methods. But one called Zelle maybe should raise caution flags. It is very fast and efficient and used to transfer funds by connecting directly to your checking or savings account. (Unlike say Venmo which maintains money in a “wallet”. The big downside for Zelle is that it offers zero purchase protection as transactions are instant and irreversible. Even if you just make a typo! But scammers also know this. So according to what I read, the warning is to only use it dealing with people you really know.
I’m happy transacting the hold fashioned way,
The Dow will feel differently as it grows into the new era of industrialization -- there are now 5 Mag 7 stocks in the Dow 30: Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia and Alphabet (Google)... and the throw around a lot of weight. The Dow isn’t about making steel anymore. Of the Dow 30 which includes big banks, pharmaceuticals, big Retail, techs, Consumer Products and fast food, the only remaining steel gobbling big manufacturing companies are Caterpillar and Boeing. H And perhaps Honeywell.
Yeah, telling the youth about things the way they used to be seems less relevant now. But the wonderfulness of those days of yore will never fade.
As I watch this generation try to rewrite our history, I'm sure of one thing, it will be misspelled and have no punctuation.
The Answer:
Number one is Star Spangled Banner. The rest ranked by several factors are America the Beautiful, God Bless the USA, This Land is Your Land, The Stars and Stripe Forever, God Bless America, My Country tis of Thee, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Born innthe USA and Yankee Doodle.
Here’s one performance of an American classic that should not be forgotten.
