Today's Tids Issue 3,374
Opening Stuff:
A progressive lackey
journalist from McCLatchy Washington Bureau (Or, better -- Malarkey WB) issued
an opinion column in the guise of news that said America is in good hands today
for the next century as it becomes more tolerant and casts aside “some of the mores
and traditions that dominated American life for centuries.” This from a representative of Progressive
America, progressive America which just happens to be the least tolerant segment of America, refusing to
acknowledge anybody that isn’t exactly like them. Women aren’t considered women
unless they are progressive. Blacks aren’t considered Black unless they are
them. These are the kind of columns that rattle the aging bones of many who
know that the mores and traditions of responsibility, character, consideration of
others, hard work, feeling guilt, honesty and respect are part of the fabric that
Made America a place of want for all potential immigrants, for all, no matter
their color or personal inclinations. Bones are rattling so vigorously that I’m
hearing the call from some formerly docile souls who want to rise up and stand
tall on replacement knees and ankles and hips in the face of progressive cronyism,
and the misinformation from a misguided press. “When in the course of human
events it becomes necessary to desolve…”.
I stood yesterday
among hundreds -- Maybe near a thousand of just regular old Americans, kids
and grand parents and everything Inbetween, all walks of life and persuasions, “millenniums”
and what ever you call those who came before “Boomers”. We were all there to listen
to the reading of the Declaration of Independence, read from the same spot as
it had been in 1776, by a man in the colonial military garb of the Artillery
unit down the street that was founded 35 years before that heroic date in
history. People stood still and listened to every word. They cheered a couple
of times. And when the final word was uttered triumphantly, the people stood
even taller, shouting gleefully, “Hip, Hip Hooray”. Then I watched them leave
the green and leafy park, walking a little more briskly, proudly, parents holding
kids hands. Kids looking up thinking, hey there must be something to that
Declaration of Independence.
.
Novelists have it
easy these days when researching character development. All you have to do is
walk into any kind of store and follow someone talking loudly on a cel phone.
People try too hard
to stand out, when all they have to do is be themselves. It’s much more
efficient.
Yesterday the US turned
the tables on ISIS. After hearing of threats to USA 4th of July
Celebrations, we launched an air attack on Raqqa, the capitol of the so-called
ISIS State. Tis is one of the better pieces of proactive military action I’ve
heard of ina long while.
The Question:
Who are Louis Reard and Micheline Bernardini?
The Headlines:
--USA Women Win World Soccer Championship, Beating Japan
5-2.
--Greeks Resoundingly Vote Down New Austerity measures To
Stay Solvent; EuroMarkets Fall; Greek Financial Minister Resigns.
--US Stock Futures Slidiing.

I was thinking as I observe
the public cost of building passageways for bicycles: Are the hydrocarbons saved by riding bikes
over using cars enough to offset the hydrocarbons necessary to produce bicycle
helmets?
A news report on the famed
French General who along with Rochambeau aided the fledgling America in its
battle against the Red Coats, said that later in his life he returned to NYC
where he was treated like a “Rock Star”. Why can’t these new journalists say,
Treated like a War hero.” Are recording artists the only paragons we have left?
From where I’m
sitting atop the ivory towers of Tids enterprises, I’m seeing a population
worshipping movies like people of the past worshipped God. The Ten Commandments
was a far better message for all, regardless if whether you give God a thumbs
up or Thumbs down.
A local columnist
says that “Magic Mike XXL is not quite the cinematic end of American
culture, but you can see it off in the distance if you look hard enough”.
I really like Jill
Ellis, the coach of the USA Women’s Soccer Team!
I basically like European
cars best. Does that make me a Millennial?
The KIA and Hyundai
would be great looking cars if the design didn’t have to conflict with the KIA
and Hyundai Logo. Ditto that for Buick and Chevy. Does that make me a design
snob? Or, just superficial?
I think the most
misunderstood sentence in the Declaration of Independence is “The pursuit
of happiness”. I think Hollywood and Las Vegas take it to mean they can do
anything they want. And the people use it to help them dismiss responsibility
and consideration.
I promise never to
write a movie where the characters trying to appear intelligent and hip
talk about “Casablanca”, and revel in the sounds of “As time Goes By”.
There is a little new
evidence, and it is growing, that more USA people are agreeing that “States
Rights” got screwed and was the real victim in the latest SC ruling. The problem
with SR being victimized in the latest ruling is that it sets a precedent for
more of it in the future, more handcuffing of the last bulwark against a
totally encroaching central government – farther and farther away from the people.
I enjoyed standing
amidst the 4th of J crowd yesterday picking out feminists. You can tell
them. They have a little confident smile on their lips that seems to say,”
after November 2016, this will all be ours.”
Larry Doby, began
playing for the Cleveland Indians 68 years ago yesterday. He was the second
Balck man in MLB, coming about 4 months after the more celebrated Jackie Robinson.
The hall of famer player 13 years, hit an average of 283, had 256 home runs was
a marvelous fielder and a good guy. JR, also a good guy who’s base running
pumped the hearts of Dodger fans and exhilarated baseball fans, batted 311 over
9 seasons and had 135 home runs. There is an important message here as opined years
ago in the NY Times. “In glorifying those who are first, the second is often
forgotten.. Larry integrated all of those American League parks where Jackie
Robinson never appeared. And, he did it with class and clout.”
I think we are still
absorbed too much with “First” rather than capability.
The Parking Lot.
Chapter 2 continues…
She squinted a bit as the mid-morning sun popped from behind
a tree up the road. Maybe that’s all I really saw.
She bent forward. I
raised the pic as if giving it to her. Hew hand opened and she took it, which
could ne=mean two things; She was seriously trying to help me. Or, she knew who
it was and was trying to come up with an excuse to disguise her knowledge.
“I’m pretty sure
she has been here several times, or else I wouldn’t be bothering you. “ That
did seem to bother her, which is what I wanted.
“You know,’ she
said slowly, thoughtfully, “she has one of those faces that looks like a lot of
faces that have passed through these tables.” Then quickly changing the
subject, “Who drew this? It’s not that good.” I reddened. It probably
contrasted nicely next to my graying hair. She smiled noticing my give-away.
“Have you seen a
lot of police sketches in your life?”
“No, sorry about the sketch remark.” She
paused, “I could say I’ve seen people like this, but not this person.”
“Do you work here regularly?”
“Enjoy your
coffee. I have to get an order.” And sure enough, there was a ring from the counter
area. She turned and smiled one more time just before she was absorbed into the
inside blackness..
I bit into that warm
gooey pastry, and forgot in its deliciousness
why I was here. But, I knew I would be here more often, and not just for the
pastry.
The Answer:
Reard invented the bikini bathing suit and Bernardini
perfected it. That’s one of the new reasons for global warming. Blame it on
Bernardini and Reard.
Have a great week
everybody.
