Today;s Tids Issue 3,380
Opening Stuff:
Scott
Walker entered the crowded Repub field yesterday. The
Hill immediately took shots at this formidable candidate saying in her broad economic
speech that Walker made a name for himself on backs of working people. Of
course, what he did was to make hard decisions that put runaway state budgets
back into the reality of fiscal responsibility. The problem with US politics is
that misuse of the truth tends to more resonate with average voters than the
facts about numbers. But of course, the press will right the wrongs of over
exaggerating candidates. Right? Won’t they?
Two
headlines that have to be written today: 1. Nasa Scientists
Goofy over fly-by past Pluto. 2. Donald ducks pleas from RNC to tone it down.
There
are two kinds of people in this world. One is those on the
eternal quest for a quiet place. The other is all of those who gravitate to
noisy places or create noise wherever possible. The noisy people are winning.
One
of the things that bothers me about today’s society is too
many people not respecting too many other people. Communities just don’t work
well like that.
The
Question:
A good name does not a genius make. Who do you
think would make the list of all time famous family “Black Sheep”?

I
see where H-Wood moguls have decided to open the new Fall TV
season with a new show called “Superwoman”. Do you think that maybe that has
something to do with pal Hillary’s campaign. Showing week after week a woman
doing what men do would be just part of the subliminal effort to eliminate
potential negatives, thus enhancing her position in more minds. Of course, most
intelligent voters don’t have to be persuaded about a woman’s equality to men. ,But,
we’re talking about Clinton voters here.
If
Trump wasn’t grabbing so many headlines, Carly Fiona would be
making better progress. She’s an excellent candidate who’s message is suffocating
in Trump fluff.
I
spend a lot of time in dictionaries looking up words because
I’m generally writing to people smarter than I.
BTW,
Hillary didn’t offer much in her touted big economic speech yesterday except the
expected rich versus poor argument and recycled misinformation about Bush words
on hard working Americans.
I
hear that old people are always concerned about falling
and breaking a hip or arm. Now they have to worry about landing on their near
$1,000 smart phone. Life just gets tougher.
One
of the better ideas I have heard lately is doctors making “housecalls”
on Skype.
I
have to laugh when I read all of this talk about increasing
the state promotion budget for tourism. There isn’t any more room here for more
tourists.
I
don’t know about your state, but RI has sold its
soul for Tourism. People are reduced to selling their front yards for parking,
extra bedrooms for paying guests and valuable space on rapidly condensing beaches
for hoards from elsewhere. This is the alternative of places like Greece and other
third world countries. After unrelenting union grabs forcing good job value
added industries way, this is all there is left.
I
have been writing the Tids with a bigger font at the
request of a good reader with aging eyes.
Let me now if you se a difference.
The
More Trump talks and slams Repubs, the easier the path to
the presidency becomes for The Hill.
A
European magazine “FP” (Foreign Policy) likens the
Greek situation to Samuel Becket farcical drama, “Waiting for Godot” – two guys
waiting for an answer to a question they don’t understand.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 4 continues.
Two things
led to a rough start in the Plymouth colony for Ralph Hicks and his family of
10. First, Governor Bradford allotted land to all inhabitants within before the
Hicks hoard arrived, so that Robert was given the allotment for a single man. The
other problem was the Hicks hoard itself and in particular several sons, Johns
and Ephraim chief among them, who irritated the hell out f the basically
religious, hard working community.
Robert and
Elizabeth were good people, who wanted to contribute as equals with all others.
But after several years of eking out sustenance on their limited land and
trying to control the antics of ringleader John, Robert held a meeting with his
boys about exploring the western limits of Plymouth colony which were today’s
Warren and Tiverton RI. John of course would have no part of that kind of live In
the wild life, and soon found a young woman to marry, and left for Weymouth. With
that, it turns out, that the colony leaders began to look kindly upon with more
favor towards the Hicks family. However, the idea of exploration and the
prospects of opportunity had stimulated the imaginatio0sn of boys Ephraim,
Richard, and the quiet but resourceful Samuel.

With
all of this talk on politics and the insanity about
the incongruities, it’s time stroll down a path across a field filled with those
magnificent orange day lilies of summer; a time meander in beauty with a person
you love. The soft sounds of Chopin will help make the stroll perfect: https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-006&ei=utf-8&fr=ytff1-yff16&p=chopin%20piano%20concerto%20no%202%20second%20movement&type=
