Today's Tids Issue 3,373
Opening Stuff:
The Red is that of heroes
blood, spilled for freedom grand.
The White is snow covered fields testing the Pilgrim’s heart.
The blue is in the skies that brighten, caress a bountiful
land.
Red, White, Blue and the people too, who set America apart.
Isn’t America bigger than lonely cries that sully the soil?
Doesn’t the star spangled flag stand for all and not just a
few
Why do we forget the values of many when single angers roil?
If we stop to look inside America’s heart, there is an
evident truth,
People neath these blue skies care; no matter skin color or
hue.
Wrap us all together in a glorious banner of Red, White and
Blue.
We are not segments, we are American’s all, through and
through!
In this past week,
over 4,000 people from around world saw the dream for which they have been waiting
come true. Hey were made citizens of the USA.
On a sadder note,
a new poll says that 55% of the so-called millennials generation would consider
moving to live outside of America. Has this great nation been so muddied, so misconstrued
by a few with pens and misguided agendas, that the majority of an entire generation
are failing to see what is great. Is that tears I see flowing down cheeks at
Mount Rushmore.
You may have wondered
about the title of yesterday’s Tids, “Where is Hopalong Cassidy when we
need him”. I feel that the USA these days is like that runaway stage coach of
western movie days when it appears there is no way to stop the rogue driver.
And then on the dusty trail behind our hero Hopalong on his mighty white steed gallops
up – closer, closer, closer. Hoppy leaps and barely grabs the coach hand
railing, but that old Cassidy determination has him with furrowed brow inching
upward until he can throw a leg over the top of the coach. The driver’s eyes
widen, and he turns to see Hoppy coming at him. But too late, as Hopalong
delivers three crunching blows and the driver falls to the coach taking the reins
with him. Now the Coach is lurching uncontrolled towards a ravine. Quick thinking,
our hero now drops to the back of the closest horse and then painstakingly moves
forward, overcoming several hair-raising slips until he is atop the lead horse,
where he is able to bring the marauding coach to a halt…mere feet from the cliff.
Does this sound like America today? Do we have a Repub candidate like Hoppy?
The Question:
Name the 13 Original colonies. That should be easy, right? Bonus: Name three Atlantic Coast Indian
Nations when the first settlers arrived.

According to CNN, 57%
of Americans see nothing wrong with the rebel flag. This is just the latest
example of a media coerced nation where the noise is greater than the truth. It’s
happening much too often.
In case you are
interested, 153 years ago today, that Rebel flag fell at Gettysburg, and the
North stopped the threat.
Don’t you think it is
time for the Congress to pass an “Un-Holiday” for all of those who live in tourist
communities.
Uh-Oh, here we go
again. Using the latest SC judgment, a polygamous trio in Montana has applied
for a wedding license. And that is the latest in what could easily be a new
wave of diluting the meaning of marriage.
As times moves along
and people pass silently from our stage, essential or meaningful careers
always come to an end. One I have in mind is Nazi hunters. When they all die,
what do you do. Yet the hatred is always there, gnawing.
I love the guacamole
peas controversy. Now, I wouldn’t eat either peas or Guac, as mushy light
green and I just don’t see eye to eye. But, this is like manna from heaven for
this Tids food editor. How often have we railed here about people who’s living
demands changing things for change sake, and in particular one of the biggest
culprits -- chefs. They go overboard when they contaminate perfectly good food
with trendifications. Meat, Potatoes and gravy guys never loose. Unless of
course they spell potatoes wrong.
Speaking of speaking
out, there is a lot of angst from people (Some perhaps because they don’t want
to deal with the truth) over the Bishop Tobin of Providence speaking out about
the Same Sex marriage decision. “He can’t do that,” they yell at the top of
their lungs. But, the answer is simple – Of Course he can! That is exactly what
he is supposed to do. He is the leader of the Catholic Church here and he is expounding
upon a truth the church, and a lot o people in it, hold dear from the biblical teachings.
Many people feel that the Catholic Church in their attempt to be loved and “fit
in” with changing mores, have liberalized policies that were originally meant to
have people strive harder to be good and fair and loving and honest, to adhere
to stricter guidelines and high bars. Bending the rules does not a great
society make. So, Tobin should speak out, and those that don’t agree can
disagree. Maybe it’s because they fear the truth.
Which reminds me of
the TV premiere I saw last night, Astronaut’s Wives. This one has a touch
of liberal propaganda in it. Most liberals don’t like the idea of a something called
the happy 50’s. I remember a woman from California who had moved east and worked
for me, once in a fit of anger said, “You grew up in a time warp”. Well the
film spent some time trying to cast a shadow over the era of the early 60’s by
conveying an idea that everything wasn’t at all perfect. This appears to be a
true story about the early Astronaut days as shown through the eyes of the
wives. We’ll see.
Whatever happened
to Julian Assange?
The negative media assault
on Trump is building a stronger base for him among all of those who are tired
of media bias. And that is a lot of people.
Freedom has never
meant that everybody can have everything.
The Parking Lot.
Chapter 2 continues…
Te aroma of freshly ground coffee coupled with the
magnificent sea air was worth the trip up even if I didn’t learn a thing about
my woman. A cheery, forty something waitress materialized at my table just as I
sat and reached for a napkin to wipe away a few crumbs. “Oh, let me get a
sponge.” She said immediately and sped off. I always wonder about what is contained
in community sponges at restaurants like these.
She was back in a
flash, with a clean looking purple sponge and a paper towel. She asked as she
started to scrub, “You from around here,” knowing I wasn’t. I expect she knew
everybody in town.
“Nope,” I said with
an equally smiley face, “I’m far away across the Bridge.”
“Oh, a Foreigner. I’d
better be on guard.” That‘s a local joke, but it also made think twice about
snooping around here. I smiled at her knowingly. Understanding sarcasm around thos
watery part of New England goes a long way to building better relationships.
“I’ll behave,” I answered.
She smiled back. “I’ll have a small black coffee, from those beans that smell so
good, and that pastry that is stuffed with dark chocolate.
“You are a very
smart man,” she said turning and scurrying off. I fingered the sketch in the folder
on my lap.
When she returned I
had the folder open in front of me with the sketch on top face down. “I warmed
the pastry so the chocolate would be nice an gooey inside”. I felt my saliva
oozing inside my mouth. It almost hurt
“I love warm and
gooey,” and then I picked up the picture. I wonder if you could help me out of
a small dilemma. I turned over the picture and watched her eyes. They moved to
the right, quickly and then back. The smiled faded slightly.
I say beware of Pay
By the Mile car tax programs. It will be a great resource for divorce
lawyers.
The Answer:
The 13 were Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island,
Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia,
North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Bonus: The major tribes were Wampanoags and Pakanokets around the
Plymouth Colony. There were the Naragansetts, Pequots, Nipmucs, Iraquois, Algonquins,
Yaocamico, Rappahannock, Pohatan, Lanpe and Piscataway.
I thought this would
be a nice short 4th of July gift. But when I think of the USA, I
just keep on rambling. Let’s keep it great, and show those millennials!
