Today's Tids Issue 3,381
Opening Stuff:
The
biggest problem I have with the Iran deal is that politicians
put it together.
My
heart sank yesterday when by accident I sent all of my
email messages careening into “Trash”. When I went to rehabilitate the lost
items I discovered that 99% of them were right where they should be. Pressing “delete”
won’t be so hard in the future.
In
case you’re wondering why you feel a little different
today, it is reported that the last of the winter’s snow in Boston has finally melted.
It’s official: It is Summer.
The
Question:
Amazon is a well run, trusted, and low priced source
for books, entertainment items and items under $10. Name four things you should
always look elsewhere before hitting the “Buy” button at the big Internet
retailer.

Tom
Watson’s Last Hurrah, Department:
Tomorrow begins the great British Open. It is always
a tense and often dramatic tournament, and the good news is that it ends on
Sunday morning giving you the rest of the day to…to…do what? Sit and stare, and
wonder what you should be doing with all of this free time. Tiger says he’s
ready to win again and that contrary to naysayers, he still is young and still
has the fire. The Odds makers have Jordan Spieth as the favorite at 7-1. Next
is Dustin Johnson at 12-1 followed buy Justin Rose at 16-1, the rest of the Top
Ten with ties are Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuzsin, Henrik Stenson, Rickie Fowler,
Jason Day and Tiger Woods. There are 7 tied for #10 – Sergio Garcia, Martin
Kaymer, Paul Casey, Hideki Maysuyama, Phil Michelson, Patrick Reed and Bubba
Watson. I think that Matt Kucher will play well and be a contender. Britain’s
favorite American Tom Watson will play at The Open for the Last time. Be prepared
for Goosebumps.
In
case you missed it, the scientists at the Heydron
Collider announced the discovery of a new particle called pentaquark. The
question remains, are quarks just quirks or quintessential.
I
see where the Denver Federal court disregarded the
concept of the first amendment and beat up on the Little Sister of the Poor over
their demands for a stricter ruling regarding the mandated use of ACA financed contraception.
Must be too much smoke drifting into those Rocky Mountain High court rooms. I
think the ruling is a fluke.
Renowned
lawyer and Harvard Prof Alan Dershowitz says Obama weakened
US ability to make good deal with Iran by taking the military option off the
table.
I’ve
read a few of the circumstances surrounding the incarcerations
of drug offenders just released by 0-Man, and frankly they don’t sound so
innocent to me. But, I guess I’m just behind the times on what’s good and bad.
Already,
progressives seem to be reacting to the Iran deal the same way they oozed over
the Arab Spring.
Donald
Trump is the perfect guy for the presidency of a country with
near $20 Trillion in debt. Really, who knows more about bankruptcy than him.
And,
who likes The Donald shooting down fellow Repubs better than The Hill. She is
probably paying her fairy god mother overtime to have her induce Trump into
forming a third party. There are enough rabid Trumpites who would be willing to
sacrifice the unity of the Republican party for a bad hairdo.
A
local wag asks if the Boston Red Sox have deflated
the baseballs.
According
to the Baseball gods in Las Vegas, four teams are a lock
for the final four – LA Dodgers, St Louis, Washington and Kansas City. Put the
rest in a hat.
The
real winner in the Iran deal is oil thirsty China.
Having Iran back in the oil loop will create a competition and possible price war
with the Saudis, good for lower prices for China. The China government has a so-called
“Silk Road” initiative and with their pal Iran in the clear, China now has a
seat at the middle east table which is next to the EuroMarket kitchen. In
addition, the US/China relation has been tender for years mainly because of China’s
support of Iran against US wishes. With the deal, everything is hunky-Dory
again. Right?
I
may have to eat more steak with Rosemary-Merlot
reduction. It’s one of my favorite taste treats and, according to new research,
it could make me smarter. Ophelia in Hamlet mentioned the “Remembering” powers
of the herb, but that was taken lightly when immediately thereafter-she killed herself.
But now some scientists investigating aromatherapy have determined that people
exposed to Rosemary were indeed showing signs of having statistically
significant better memories than those in a placebo group. Of course, the
placebo group was exposed to lavender, which is known to put people to sleep.
Oh well, I’ll still be eating my Rosemary/Merlot sauce…because it tastes so good.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 4 continues:
Before the Hicks boys were growing up and John and
Ephaim were making names for themselves as certified nuisances; before Robert
and his wife were beginning to plan for the trip to the new world of freedom, Captains
John Smith and Thomas Hunt were exploring the regions around Cape Cod and paying
for the trips by trading with the local
native people. On one trip, Smith, the leader of the two boat excursion had loaded
up with hides, and was setting sail for England. He ordered Hunt to do the
same, but that captain had another idea, and lured about 24 Nausets and Patuxets
on board. His men locked them below and
he raised anchor, setting sail for Spain where he sold his bounty as slaves.
One of the captors was a very intelligent Patuxet Sachem named Squanto.
Catholic friars
there interrupted Hunt ‘s misdoings and brought Squanto and the others to England
where learned the English ways and of course the language. A Captain Dermer befriended
Squanto and helped him return to his Patuxet nation, now decimated by disease.
Squanto became associated with Massasoit’s Wapanoags which ultimately brought him to Plymouth.
The Hicks
boys, especially Ephraim and Samuel, became fascinated with this seemingly very
intelligent local person. Squanto reacted better to the energetic boys than the
townspeople. Never forgetting the simmering bitterness of his people against
murdering an ruthless English, the Indian diplomat was beginning to find the the
association with the Boys and other young men of the colony helpful

Answer:
Amazon looks like a convenient way to buy most anything,
and if you just like sitting in your house clicking away and a few bucks here
or there doesn’t matter, then Amazon away. But, you can generally do better in
pricing and selection most of time for these options: 1. Items over $100. 2. Electronics
Like TV’s and laptops. 3. Photography supplies. 4. Clothing and Shoes. Here
comes a drone with your refrigerator. Yikes!
Happy
Hump day!
What do you call a camel without a hump? Humphrey!
What do you call a crying camel? A humpback wail!
The baby camel wakes his parents up and asks for a
glass of water. Dad says to his wife, “Honey,
he must be sick. That’s his second glass this month.”
Shoot me!
