For Leprechauns:
Happy
Saint Patrick’s Day Everybody. It doesn’t get much
clearer than that. I say that because last week I was touting the local parade
and I got many letters from people wondering if I knew SP Day was a week later.
Yes, I knew and so did the town. They just didn’t want their parade a day after
the day. And, it turns out that the many Irish in this town didn’t mind either.
It gave them two days to celebrate! Pour me another pint laddie. And, BTW, week
to recover in between. So today is the day to celebrate, and the day Corned beef
and cabbage abounds. Frankly, I wish the Irish had another favorite meal.
This
new Trump budget is going to be hard to digest,
and it isn’t just because Meals on Wheels won’t be delivering any longer under
it. My first reaction is that he is eliminating a ton of jobs. Frankly, I just
don’t see social workers and artists going to work in the alleged factories of
the manufacturing comeback. I like some of the movements from central
Government control at state control, especially Education. Giant entity
concepts are often pushing round pegs into square holes at the smaller entity
levels. It’s like a former exec from GM forcing GM principles upon his new 75
man company. The unfunding of NPR and TV will be a war, but this is an opportunity
for corporations to step in (They already fund a lot of it). Most feel that NPR
is ideologically acceptable to but a small percentage of the country. In other
words, it needs to achieve diversity to continue being funded by a Government
for all. But, I have a lot of problems in the safety net area, for many
programs that while perhaps diminishing the urge to achieve, are necessary to help
when people can’t help. You just can’t arbitrarily classify all the apparent
misfortunate in the same category. Those are a few immediate thoughts and there
is a lot to digest, but I can see now that this final budget will look nothing like
the package that originated at the white House.
I
would be lambasted if I forgot to mention “Z” day
as Saint Joseph’s day is called around her. “Z” stands for Zepoles, which are
incredibly delicious cream puff style treats which are made by the tens of thousands
in bakeries around here on or around the 19th of March. There will
be parades and festivals and endless discussions comparing the best of the “Z’s”!
It’s a yummy day for the husband of Mary.

Every
Saint Pats day I look into my closet barren of much green and
vow to buy more for next year. But I never do. Green makes my skin look like
death
One
of the prettiest songs ever in my mind is “Hear Me” by Rita Connelly
and Shaun Davey.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 83I…
Alex was breathing deeply as he sat after
running from the house. He wasn’t used to this kind of dramatic heroism in his
life.
He just made it, as two guys entered the front
door as he was scampering up the moonlit green hillside. Despite his thumping heart,
it seemed strangely peaceful. He felt safe as he heard shouting below, saw
lights popping on and off. He was hoping the twosome had come to the conclusion
that they were just seeing things like
lights on and off, perhaps from a little too much Guinness on Saint Pats day.
But the peace and imagination disappeared
as he was shocked into reality, first by the appearance pf one guy stepping out
to the back yard, and the rustling of bushes behind him. He froze not knowing what
to do. He backed up crablike with one eye on the man below how was now
relieving himself from too much of the frothy stuff.
Back, back he went, when all of a sudden he
hit something. The something was moving and felt wam. He must have turned white,
because the surrounding area grew brighter. Quite bright indeed, and when he turned his head,
he saw two little men all dressed in bright green, with yellow shoes and a
yellow trimmed hat. He automatically backed away.
Be still, me laddie. We’re are here to help.
These gents below have been our quarry for centuries, You see they have been trying
to steal our pot of gold, and we have finally caught them, because of you. You are
an Irish hero!
Liam, its’ time to take flight, and as Alex
watched, the two materialized next to the man below, each carrying a huge shillelagh
in their hands. One whack outside and another inside soon had Alex and the leprechauns
singing and dancing, and Alex’s heart happy again.
Reading
between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--The Big Pic of the
week is Beauty and the Beast. It is a liitle long, slow at times, and tries too
hard to insert a today’s concept that you can’t tell anything about a person by
the way they look on the outside. A couple of the songs are not that good.
--The Belko Experience
is a weird and blood little picture about a group of 80 Americans working in a
business in Columbia SA. Suddenly metal plates slide over doors and windows and
seal them all in the large room. A detached voice says, “Kill your neighbor”.
It all becomes kill or be killed situation and is supposed to show the differences
of how different humans react to this. Blood everywhere. It actually sounds
interesting. But…the blood and gore may get really tiresome.
The
Answer:
Gladys Knight loved
ole’ Jim’s “Midnight Train to Georgia”, “Neither One of Us” and “Best Thing
that Ever Happened to Me”. He also wrote “I’ll Still Love You”, “All That Keeps
Me Going” and “Smooth Sailin’”
This
is a little light on quantity, but then it is Saint Patrick’s
Day.
Have
a great weekend E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
