You know what we say always shines above the clouds…

Today's Tids Issue 3,828
For Enduring Stamina:

What kind of day will it be today? Other than gloomy and damp cold in the Northeast, that is. It could be real gloomy in DC if you are in favor of replacing ACA with a life preserver. Or even gloomier if Wall Street reacts negatively to the whatever happens in a probable vote. --Gorsuch is also under a cloud now that Senator Doom n’ Gloom himself, Chuck Schumer, has come out saying no way will he vote for the good judge. But, The Washington Post strongly disagrees, editorializing that it would be bad for Dems to shoot down the Judge. That has some scuttlebutt surfacing that Dems are seeking a deal with GOP to ensure his confirmation. --Other than that, we have Taliban saying they are regaining key Afghan districts of Helmand Province and US Generals saying Russia allying with The Taliban to help them get there. No that’s more that gloomy. It’s downright scary. –But, if you are worried that grey is over taking sunny skies, just take a gander across the proverbial pond to the Great Britain where they are standing tall, united saying, “We are Not Afraid!”

If God had named me to be chief writer of all DNA, the typos would have destroyed humanity before it began. Be thankful. Shout halleluiah!

I’m beginning to get emails from some of the best Summer Seafood Shacks and seasonal ice cream stands saying that 2017 grand openings are imminent. There ain’t no gloom here, unless of course you are dating a nutritionist.

I see where one of the hot new food trends is “Coal Fired Pizza”, which should be very good for West Virginia workers. That is until some local lib marches to boot the entrepreneur out of town.

If Vampires can’t see their reflections, why is thier hair always so neat?

The Question:
The MLB teams are winding down the grapefruit league, setting their pitching rotations and putting opening day line-ups together. And the bookies are putting out their odds for the winners. Which teams make up the top ten, and name the six teams at the bottom at 100-1 odds.

The Senate just voted along party lines to repeal rules protecting consumer data. That means that internet providers and other sites would be able to sell your internet traveling expeditions to marketers. I am an anti-regulation guy, but I am even mores so a personal privacy guy. I do not trust site owners to be judicious when handling consumers web traffic. I would never authorize anybody to sell anything about me, or even retain my info in their files, if I could. There is plenty of proof that many people in Cyber industries could care less about the people on the net. I don’t use FaceBook just for that very reason. But you, my friends out there in Tidsland, that’s Ok. I send you my soul each day.

OMG, did I just support Elizabeth Warren?

Taking off the gloves for 2020, Department:
Some deranged Democrat strategists are officially calling for their constituents to get out into the open and stop hiding their emotions; to loathe the people who voted for Trump, even if they are their best friends. How sick has this country become in the name of politics? “Stop hiding their emotions?”

Why are there no “B” batteries?

The Tids Obit page Editor was going to produce another of the popular Tids Random Average Death Age calculations. But I didn’t like today’s randomness, as the ages were far too low.

The new Prez of the RI Senate looks a bit shady to me.

And, this current White House Congress haggling negotiation is looking mighty messy, and may get worse when the dust settles. Pols can play hard ball, but this is looking more like beanball.

The lighting for a TV shot of Trump at a meeting with congress had the Prez looking bald with grey side hair. Was it a picture of things to come? Or, is it already there? I vote for #2.

If a runner runs faster than the speed of sound, does he or she still hear his or her Ipod?

“#” for “Number” has definitely been usurped by “#” for “Hashtag”. It makes for distruptive reading.

Now, I don’t belong to twitter, but I do see viral tweets reproduced, and I can only say that the majority of the alleged controversies are perpetrated by the uninformed, and humorless.

The Parking Lot: Chapter 83 continues…
Alex stood up, shook off the tension and ran to the hillside, still keeping himself out of sight. The two looked like blobs of tar lying in the dark at the bottom of the hill.
   “You alright, Charlie?”
   “Yeah, I’m good, just surprised.”
“Quiet.” That must have been the signal for both to rise carrying guns.
Alex moved back, but he knew the two were looking for a new quarry. He leaned down and felt around for some small stones. He didn’t know why. It just seemed like something to have ready.
Alex’s eyes now were moving from one corner of the house to the other. The two lugs moved to the deeper shadows near the back door and porches. Even Alex had trouble seeing them.
He saw movement at the right corner. He threw a rock over there, and the leg of a person vanished. He noticed that the two men had turned their heads in that direction. These rocks will come in mighty handy, he thought. He was hoping the person attached to the leg would think again before coming around the corner. Maybe they would think I was alive and was the amazing mystery superhero in the dark.
His eyes were turning to the two men, who he thought were whispering, maybe planning a strategy. At the moment, both sides were stymied. One killer moved quickly to the back door, opened it and immediately went down on his stomach. The door slammed behind him.
Was it their idea to start a ruckus up front? Alex thought  it was a good time to begin his own commotion out back. He wound up and threw perfect strike at the dark shadow. He heard a grunt as he was dropping to the ground. Two shots rang out and he heard bullets striking the branches of trees behind him. He lay motionless, his body concealed by the hill line.
Now he heard two, three, four more shots, and a definite scream. It wasn’t Nancy’s scream. It was quiet now. He raised his head, and saw a figure  cautiously moving toward the shadow now a mound on the ground. Alex shouted. “There’s another guy in the house,” hoping the person was a friend. He saw movement by the kitchen window. He rose and threw the last of his rocks right at it, breaking it, shattering glass throughout the kitchen. The thug disappeared but, the supposed friend had moved to a point at the window. Shots rang again. Finally silence.
After about 15 seconds of eerie silence, a voice said, “Who is that up there in the woods. Is it you Alex?

I’m glad I finished this chapter today. I was getting tired of typing Chapter 83.

Reading between the lines Movie reviews:
--The Last Word with Shirly MacLaine as a disliked but highly successful business woman and Amanda Seyfried as writer hired by Shirly to write her Bio. Seyfried’s first pass at the bio paints a less than desirable picture of MacLaine’s character and she decides to lead a better life, creating a bond between the two.. The critics hate it and I thought the trailer looked dreadful. Some may like it.
--I remember playing Power Rangers 20 some years ago with my five year old grandson, which wore me out as he thought I also had the energy of a five year old. So, I got to know these characters from a young person’s mind. This is about four teen age HS kids who have super powers, but the movie doesn’t live up to the old TV series. It is not very good, nor does it fulfill nostalgia needs of former fans.
--Life reminds me of all the times I cringed watching the original “Alien” movie. It is well done and well acted; about six astronaust about to dscoer the first sigsnof alien life on mars. But theyleanis that the alien life si far mor advanced and smarter than them, afer their reseach techniques have une-intendd consequences. Get ready to cringe.
--If you thought the original TV Chps was bad, wait til you see his unfunny attempt at a comedy movie featuring he famed California Highway patrol. Stay away.

The Answer:
Windy City folks should be smiling again if the bookies are right. The Cubs are 7-2 to win it all. Next are the Red Sox at 9-1 setting up the game people wanted several years ago. Next also at 9-1 are the LA Dodgers followed by Washington Nationals, Cleveland Indians, NY Mets, San Fran Giants, Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. The six teams in  the 100-1 odds group are Atlanta, Arizona, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Philadelphia and San Diego. Play ball!
