The indomitable spirit of the Irish heart.

Today's Tids Issue 3,815
For a Bit of the Irish:

Tomorrow I’ll be out there with tears in my eyes as the first bag pipes go marching by; the strains of that piercing, haunting sound tugging at my hearts strings. The smiles of Irishman and women matching the brightness of a sun basked morning. The excitement is pervasive, as crisp as the cool winter air. Everybody knows everybody in this giant neighborhood affair, And if they don’t know em’ at 10:00 in the morning, they’ll certainly think they know em’ around midnight after 73 beers and endless rounds of out of tune “When Irish Eyes are Smiling”. Yup, I can hardly wait to see those first bagpipers in traditional clan kilts, wondering how acceptable Kelly-green long johns will look in the 20 degree weather. “O Danny boy, the pipes are playing, fingers numb, and lips gooey from chapstick…”

In today’s new hot political climate, much has been noticed about the intolerance of the Left, and in particular among college kids who turn their backs on the other side of the equation. A local columnist, Mark Patinkin (A Grad of one of those egregious protesting student bodies) suggest better term for their action – “Intellectual Cowardice”. Afraid of the truth, which may second guess popular beliefs. I like it.

Interesting Freudian slip above: When I typed in the last sentence “Afraid of the truth…”, Spell-Check changed I to: “A fraud of the truth…” I like that too.

I see where the Pope is considering raising the question for discussion – Marriage for Priests. That may be the best thing that has happened to the Catholic Church since you know when.

The Question:
Speaking of sermons from the Mount, some mounts are not very that at all. Name the five states with the shortest Mountain Peaks and the five with the tallest. Bonus: A reader sent a list of internet abbreviations for Senior use only. What do you think these 5 mean: BFF, ATD, DWI, GGPBL, LOL and bonus WAITT

“Homeland’s” season 6 just gets interestinger and interestinger.

In my incredibly delightful, ridiculously unencumbered era of growing up, we kids created phrases and languages as incredulous as that of today’s teens. The problem is that our creativity stopped at the adult wall, while today the kids send it out to the world where unfortunately it becomes considered a proper use of the language. See, everything really is the same…except when it isn’t though circumstance not of its own control.

A reader suggests taxing Tweets, Snapchats and Facebook posts to pay for the wall. The Dems win two ways, if you get my drift.

I always enjoy what Andrew Puzner has to say. He is one of those guys who generally cuts through the crap and gets to the nub of the truth. Yesterday he said the Democrat’s biggest concern is that the Repubs and Trump will do really well.” That is what all of the progressive protest are all about.

The latest National trend is restaurants adding a “Labor Surcharge” to dining bills to pay for increases in Min wage. Reduce your tips and see how servers like their pittance of a mandated increase.

Politicians who do things mainly for party unity are often not doing something for their constituents. It is happening more than. Preserving party over people – stupid.

Tort reform, still among the missing, Department.
That news item about raising restrictions barring legal action against business reminds me, where was “Tort Reform” in the new Health Care Bill? Wasn’t that the scream of conservatives after ACA – where’s he tort reform. If you want lower costs and more efficiency, you have to reform the medical tort system.

Is Health Care Bill named after Clinton? He always wanted that. Better than naming a virgin frontier after him.

The Parking Lot: Chapter 82 Continues…
Claudia’s head immediacy was swallowed by her hands. She wasn’t crying, but clearly distraught thought Nancy. “Jesus Christ,” she heard from the always cool, often regal appearing, matriarch of the old Howland family.
“Is it your son,” Nancy persisted. She waited now, giving Claudia room to breathe, regain her annoying composure.
But she didn’t. She just shook her head almost as if saying, I surrender, “I don’t know. “I don’t know. Like any mother I pray it isn’t him.” Nancy placed her hand on Claudia’s arm. It was eerily quiet.
“I’m more worried about Alex,” came the concern of Jared from across the room. We don’t know if he is dead or injured or just locked away somewhere.” He looked over at the two women now raising their heads. Alex was meaningful to Claudia too, and she got the message. Her angst isn’t as important as Alex’s life, if he was actually alive.
Modessa lives in Warren, not far from here, thought Nancy. Jared’s right. Alex is everything right now.
“Can we trust you Claudia?  Nancy smiled, “After all we are practically sisters, Right?”  She nodded yes, then looked up at the Hicks women in a way that said more than yes. Nancy now believed they could trust her, although she hasn’t been that good lately at knowing who to trust. “Ok, why don’t you see what you can discover from reflecting back on conversations, activity. We’ll be back.”
The two took off on the same trail as that had used to enter.
“I’m betting on finding Alex alive.” Nancy suddenly stopped.
“Where’s lug?” She was looking at the area where she had brought him down. There were the signs of the scuffle, and blood. But no bleeder. They both squatted, and looked around into the dark, dark woods.

Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--Kong, with the big cast and the big past, is getting all of the publicity, and while you may think it is just the same old King Kong all over again, it is better than that. It has good story that is about the origin of Kong. A team of explorers find mysteries on a uncharted Pacific Island, and accouple of strange characters too. Like most movies of today it has messages which you may or may not agree with. Plenty of action and beauty Will hold your interest if you like giant apes.
--Raw is a highly recommend movie with a very weird story. A young teen from a family of veterinarians that is totally vegetarian strays from her family and eats raw meat. Unexpected consequences emerge. It sounds weird to me, but critics…and audiences like it quite a bit.
--My Scientology is exactly what it sounds like, a look, often humorous and entertaining, at the most curious religion. A critical fave, but it will depend on who you are to love it.
--The mystery suspense film, Personal Shopper, is about a woman who goes to the Paris home of her twin brother after his death and attempts to make contact with him. Twists abound to make it interesting.

The Answer:
The lowest high peak is in Florida (345 Ft). The res tbof the lowboys are Delaware (442, Louisiana (535), Mississippi (806) and RI (812). All of the rest are over 1,000 with the highest being Mount McKinley* in Alaska at 20,310 followed by Cal Mt. Whitney – 14,498, Colorado Mt Elbert -- 14,433, Washington Mt Rainier – 14,411 and Wyoming Gannett Pk – 13. 804. Interesting to see that the next state is a sea level state with a peak that’s 13,796 – Hawaii’s Mauna Loa. That must really loom! *I figure that with Trump in office we’ll turn back from revisionist history and bring back an honor for a pretty good American President. Besides, I’m a crusty contrarian. Bonus: If you had enough energy to get tis far – BFF – Best Friend’s Funeral, ATD – At the Doctor, DWI – Driving While Incontinent, GGPBL -- Gotta Go Pacemaker battery Low, LOL – Living On Lipitor and bonus, WAITT – Who Am I Talking To?

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!

And enjoy a happy day of green:
