For More Wisdom:
Honestly,
I thought today was the beginning of spring, when a young
man’s fancy turns to love and pretty young lasses hide. Well I was wrong,
though I managed to get a blip in here yesterday. But I’m not wrong about that feeling
in the air which seeps into hearts young and old. I don’t know exactly what it
is, but I know it is there; pervasively there. Maybe it’s that revived angle of
the sun we sense. Or perhaps the aromas that come from plant life creating the
beginnings of new life that will soon bloom again. Yup, it’s there alright. I
don’t quite walk on air, but I think I do. It’s magic.
There
is much too much available information and many too many
people who believe much too much of it.
The
next time you pass a dark alley, look into it closely.
You may see a couple of vegetarians devouring meat. Yes, the predictions from California
salad farms is dire as flooding and other natural interruptions has the lettuce
and salad accoutrements supply dwindling, meaning prices are about to soar. Hey,
you gotta eat, and you gotta manage your budget too. Sneak a burger.
I
think Gorsuch will hold his own and look pretty good.
Honest people always look good when sitting before ideologues.

Who is Rose Stone? Bonus: Chip Taylor was a prolific song writer. Name five of his
songs.

You
may not be entirely familiar with Moore’s Law, but
has been significant in changing your life and the world around you. And this law
etched in stone by Fairchild Semiconductor Owner Gordon Moore back in 1965 may
be finding a few cracks. The law says that the number of semiconductors in a
dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years. This law has
guided semiconductor manufacturers in their long term planning, and process predictability,
effectively giving the public rapid improvements it has come to expect. Continuing
advances in digital electronics have changed the world almost beyond belief,
and it is because of the driving force of Moore’s. But starting last year the pace
of predictable natural Advancement has slowed presenting a new host of
technical challenges, some necessary to meet he promise of anticipated AI products
and other promised magic. The industry axiom of smaller, faster, cheaper, greater
power and performance has hit road blocks that will mainly affect low cost and possibly
faster roads to processing power – hopefully tempearily. But guess what. the limitations,
unlike must other well-known industries, are more reconcilable. That means you
can continue think about being predictable because the nature of Bits allows
for rapid advancement. Right now though it is costing more to get there, and
the new pattern for the future has yet to be determined. The good news is that
Intel chief Brian Krzanich says it’s only temporary. We will get back to Moore’s
law.
You
probably stopped reading the above Tid half way through,
but what you should know is that Moore’s Law may have been one of the greatest
thing that every happened to you…except for kids heads buried in phones at
dinner and that annoying well known Tweeter.
Yesterday
I was clever and I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise
and I’m changing myself.
Todays
culture and technology has some people thinking things just
happen and they don’t have to consider responsibility. Last week a guy decided
to take a bath, with his IPhone plugged in, charging, resting on his chest. It didn’t
work out so well. His widow will probably sue because Apple didn’t say on
label, “Warning: Don’t take in bathtub while phone is plugged into electrical
current” See above Tid about growing up to be wise.

There
is a parallel between the funding of art and healthcare.
The deeper the pockets dispensing free money, the more it will be spent unnecessarily.
Part of the problem with healthcare, first since corporate benefits and now
with encroaching government largess, has been the availability of apparent endless
resources. That’s why an aspirin in a Hospital can cost $142.75. A recipient
doesn’t think he or she is paying for it. It’s the same with arts, where for elements
of the precious industry not enough people want to pay for it, resulting in a
need for subsidies to prevent death. That begets more paintings and performances
which are more the dreams of the producers than the public. Yet there is plenty
of money all around the arts. Let’s see, art collectors pay 10’s of millions for
the works of dead artists. Wouldn’t be nice if they paid a little less of those
inflated prices and contributed the difference to say art schools or arts
communities or minimalist theaters. Basically, here are two areas where what
exists would become more sensible, economical, if it was based on what people
could afford or paid for themselves. The need for huge subsidies would diminish.
Theoretically.
Obviously,
the above needs fleshing out. Now, how can I tell a local contractor that he or
she really needs to price his services based on what I can afford.
BTW,
not only do I dislike the T-Rex addition to the Monopoly tokens, I really hate
the gold color. Does gold rubber ducky look like rubber?
One
of the trickier things about writing the English
language is striving for the best use of “Their” or “Them” in sentences in a
way that they refer back to the people in the premise. I tend now to say he or
she as representing my collectives. Which is probably unacceptable now that I should
say he or she or LGBT. The world keeps you on your toes.
Frankly,
I don’t pay much attention to anything DT says any more. It’s glaze over time.
The
Answer:
Rose Stone was a member of Sly’s “Family Stone”. She,
also popularly known as “Sister Stone” was born Rosemary Stewart. She is now a
big time Gospel singer and has been in backup groups for MJ, Phish and Ringo
Starr. Bonus: Chip Taylor wrote some
big hits, most notably – Wild Thing and
Angel in the Morning. There were many others for some big country and pop names:
Try (Just a little bit harder), Country Girl Urban Man, Sweet Dream Woman, Son
of a Rotten Gambler, Any Way That You Want Me, He Sits at Your table and I Can
Make It With You. Chip Taylor is actually Wes Voight, the brother of John and Barry
Voight; yes that Jon Voight. I went to high School with the talented trio. Wes
was most talented and both he and Jon were outstanding golfers). Barry, in my
class, was quite reticent (He became a geologist) compared to the other two. Nice
guy, too.
Pray
for a revival of Moore’s Law.
