For Reflection:
The
eclipse of the sun may be interesting, but more-so is the
spectacle of TV sets falling from the sky. Yes, people are just sick and tired
of the politics and the reporting. They are literally getting up from the
couch, going to their set, picking it up and throwing it through the nearest
open window. “I can’t take it anymore!” Yes, it has gotten that bad. I think it is just plain cheaper to change the
station to HGTV and listen to the cliche’s while drifting off. Very relaxing.
A
reader writes to tell me that Californians will only be concerned
about an A-bomb attack if nuclear fall-out contains gluten
Those

Free
trade is much better for an economy than “Tariffed” trade.
Upping
the war in Afghanistan is insane.
It
is said that line dancing was started by women in
restaurants waiting for the ladies’ room.
A
couple of very good comedians died this weekend. Jerry Lewis
and Dick Gregory could not be further apart in style, but they both made me
laugh exactly the same. It was somewhat generational. For instance, when I was
a kid I never laughed harder than I did when Baby Snooks was on the radio. As a
teen I rolled on the floor holding my sides to the TV antics of Jerry Lewis. As
“sophisticated” college student and young adult I laughed intelligently at the
cutting satire of Gregory. He was one of the best if not the best ever at that.
Interestingly both Lewis and Gregory gave back to society, Lewis in his well-known
and tireless fund raising for MS, and Dick Gregory for is work as a civil
rights activist. Both never gave up til death. I hated it when Dick went on
hunger strikes, not because of what he was trying to achieve, but because I
missed the laughs. “I ‘ve been reading so much about cigarettes and cancer that
I quit reading.”

The
AGT performers are rising to the top. Tomorrow’s
program highlights the second dozen of possible winners in the current quarterfinal
competition. Last week, you just couldn’t help be amazed at the 12 year old
ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer, who can sing better with her mouth closed
than others can with it wide open. She is charming and pretty funny. Also among
my favorite winners last week was the Air Force Academy a Capella singers “In
The Stairwell”. Angela Hale, another youthful singer also showed up big. The
Roller skating Brother Sister act, the Englands, are certainly good if not outstanding,
but, it is always just more of the same. Preacher Lawson, is funny, I think. I
have trouble understanding him, but he commands
the stage. Christian Guardino is a very good singer, but not special enough. I
can say the same for Yoli. Personally, I liked Puddles the Clown, but the people
didn’t. Darci is the early favorite to win it all.
Too
many people appear to be caught up in the alleged guilt of
their forefathers. Or, they are being paid by George Soros to act that way.
Speaking
of the Billionaire Hedge fund left wing financier, a reader
sends in a good name for this second, 100th anniversary, Bolshevik revolution that’s
I trying to gain traction in the USA – “Sorosheviks”.
Amazon
Prime has a new super hero satire series named “The Tick”,
that looks quite humorous, with many great puns. It has some of those wonderful
characteristics similar to the Adam West Batman series.
This
statue thing is a great example of how misinformation is
strangling a once fantastic society. Watching the media exploit numskulls
ripping down statues of yore belies the fact that only 27 % of Americans think
they should come down. Talk about a disservice to the public.
I
was thinking of giving up Cheetos cold turkey. But all
of a sudden a big shopping bag full of mini-Cheeto bags showed up on my
doorstep. So. I’ll just ease off, instead. God is watching over me.
But
that’s an age old problem here – splinter groups
create make believe emergencies while the majority of people have concerns about
family and friends that go well beyond the activities of lemmings. But, the left
has always been excellent at taking advantage of the majority of society too
busy to form groups.
Anton
Bruckner has written some bountiful masses, in case you are stuck
on Beethoven, Bach and Mosart.
We
need to forget about Trump and bring back a reinvigorated Tea
Party.
I’ve
seen football analysts who picked the NE Patriots to go 19-0
this year. I think they were all blinded by the offensive weapons at maestro Brady’
fingertips, never looking beyond that to at the total defense. Experts do get
star struck just like any other football fan. But, in fact the Pats had some holes
at the beginning of training camp. And they are getting worse as some serious
injuries and retirements have thinned out the group. The price of the Tids subscription
is allowing me to be a homer from time to time.
By
the way, my heart is racing as I fall deeply I love with the
current Red Sox team.
Left
leaning legal expert Alan Dershowitz says the activities
of Mueller is troubling to democracy. He likens what this could become to What
KGB’s Beria said to Stalin, “Show me a man, and I will find a crime.” In an
interview where he stated that there is no crime, Dershowitz reminded a listening
audience that he voted for Hillary and is no fan of Trump; he added he is a fan
of civil liberties which is why he is criticizing Mueller.
Spain
may have been the beginning of the new post Mosul assault of
the Non-ISIS world. Word is out that a new ISIS has as a base operating procedure
keeping quiet and out of the limelight until ready to attack. Law officials are
concerned saying that will make it harder to pick up chatter, and evidence of pre-event
plotting.

LEGO is derived from the Danish word Leg Godt, which
means “Play Well”. And people have been doing that since 1949 with well over
600 Billon billion bricks have been sold.
The
crucial moment in Twain’s “A Connecticut Yankee in King
Arthur’s Court” came when the Yankee Clarence said he could out do Merlin. With
prior knowledge of an Eclipse he proclaimed to the court that he could block the
sun and darken the earth. Of course, he did it; the black came and coolness made
the gathering crowds shiver. At that time the King and his court was in awe.
Seeing that, Clarence said he would let the darkness recede, and it did, which
was much to the relief of the crowd. Yesterday it was magic and today we
understand it through more science.
