For Gourmets:
There
are always two sides to every story, and I suspect that the
majority of the US citizens can see both of them. But the reporting is typically
about one side or the other, depending on which media outlet we let into our
home. For one thing, it’s because that’s what produces readership and
viewership. And for another, it is just plain old-fashioned bias.
The
leopard tried creeping up on the tigers using its camouflage,
but it was spotted.
I
had to smile while watching a couple of woman hosts
of those mid morning talk shows smirk at the opening of that Cheeto’s based
restaurant in midtown Manhattan. In fact, they looked downright disgusted. They
would not even attempt to bite into one of the many very attractive plates of Cheeto
ingredient entrees. How phony are these celebrities who on the other hand would quickly demean, chastise
anybody who refused to eat a vegan specialty from a famous chef. By the way,
the Cheetos restaurant is sold out, and Hot, hot, hot.
The
Free Range White House is alive and well. I wonder what Kelly
is thinking today?
The
Question:
Before the left rids the history books of facts about
the Revolutionary War, I should get out a few questions about that conflict
that changed the world society. Several battles of the war have claimed the distinction:
“The Turning Point of the Revolutionary War”. Name 3. Bonus: Who were the sender and receiver of the first Telegraph
message over Trans-Atlantic cable?

You
know that hate isn’t just about club wielding lefties
and righties. It comes in many forms every day. You see it often as medically
engineered celebs mock anybody with a few extra pounds. It always bothers me as
the camera pans crowds while voice over starlets and screechy daytime hosts
dwell on somebody’s larger than Hollywood frame.
My face is always new, nice and taut,
I have plenty of dough in my vault.
Criticizing the big folks is my game.
‘Cause I’ve achieved undeniable fame.
And besides, I’m pretty.
The
success of the USA is more than just extolling idols. It
is also about not hiding its sins.
Consumer
spending is up but the retailers aren’t feeling it,
unless of course they are big on-line. While the spending numbers appear
healthy, it is growing to the detriment of savings. Combine that with a significant
jump in credit card debt, and you have to wonder about the nations’ future
ability to spend. These first real noticeable debt increases in a number of years,
a flag raise if there ever was one. An economy cannot be sustained on less available
free cash.
In
case you are interested, Home Goods (TJX) is the hottest
retail outlet, with instore sales up 7%.
Buffet
just poured $521 Million into buying shares of a company named
Synchrony. Synchrony is an on-line Bank, a financial services company that
seems to specialize in the credit card transaction/payment business. Financial services
attuned to the Internet seem to be a good bet.
If
you condone tearing down history you eventually become
the USSR ore Red China.
Let’s
see, Disney left Netflix because it wants to benefit from
the distribution of their own productions. Today it was announced that Apple is
allocating $1 Billion for entertainment production, the first step in getting into
the Netflix/HBO ballgame. Note, Netflix just upped their production budget to
$6 billion. So, if everybody is looking for a Game of Thrones or House of Cards
winner, who will be the losers. The entertainment industry is in for some big
changes.
If
Neo Nazis are an outgrowth of the butcher Hitler, then the Marxist
left here is an outgrowth of the mass murderer Stalin—suppress and kill. Both
look like bad directions for America.
If
you are thinking of retirement or moving, the three best states
are Utah, Iowa and South Carolina. A new study says avoid, New York, Indiana
and West Virginia. It is all about affordability and continuing a decent life style
on a fixed income. Most important for the six states, it seems, is the affordability
and availability of health care.
Let’s
see, the Supreme Court allowed pornography to exist on the basis
of the Freedom of Speech amendment – pushed by the left. After Charlottesville,
the neo Nazis and white supremacist groups have had their newsletter banned by
Google and Go-Daddy and they have been barred from using services of Uber,
Airbnb, GoFundMe and PayPal. Will be interesting to see how the courts handle this.
If equality still exists in the US, then the Tech companies are probably in the
wrong. Ask Larry Flint.
My
observations tell me that about 90 % of all those intriguing
headlines we are assaulted by each day lead to non-stories.
The
Answer:
A lot of people always thought the Trenton victory after
crossing the Delaware as the big turning point. But many said the defeat of the
British at Saratoga really turned things around. Yet another opinion says that the
battle of Bonington Vt was the big one. The left will probably pick Bennington
for their new history books. Bonus: Queen Victoria sent a note to President
James Buchanan. Prince Albert was Ok with it.
Well,
it’s time to go.
Happy
Birthday to kids who turn 21. It’s big!
