For Goose Droppings:
Just
for the sake of getting this Tids thing started,
let’s say that there is a crisis in the marine kingdom around Antarctica. William
the Walrus had lumbered onto the icecap, and he was feverishly telling Penelope
the Penguin that the politicians have a secret operation that is turning much of
Antarctica into flavored slush drinks. Penelope tells Willie to tell his
friends to tell all the fishes and crustaceans to gather here together. But, of
course most of the fish were fearful because as nice as Penelope and William
were, they ate the fishes and crustaceans for meals. So, Penelope told all of the
fish-eating mammals and birds to spread the word that they were on a new diet
and would only eat bushes and kelp. So finally, all of the shrimp and crabs and
minnows and sharks and whales, all the marine life, came as one. Soon the
battle was won and the politicians left…and there were no more excuses for the disappearance
of the ice cap. And all the fishes were happy that they could live together
without fear. But the penguins found that there wasn’t any foliage growing on
the ice, and the waters were too cold for seaweed. So, the peace didn’t last,
and the marine worlds went back to eating each other. It’s sad, but remember,
this is only a fairy tale.
There
seems to be widespread brain lock among investment types
wondering what to do next after 22K. Normally the thoughts after run-ups are to
profit-take it to death. I say, don’t kill that goose, just let is snooze for a
while. Plain ole stability ain’t bad either.
I
think I know why my rate of typos is increasing
geometrically. Fat fingers. Yup, I figure all of those calories from salty,
fatty snacks have to go somewhere.
A
reader, “TB”, sends in this warning: In 2020 be prepared for
a spate of bad vison puns.

Adding
to the “what now” decision facing a post 22,000K Dow
is the new information that Europe has finally recovered from an economic drought
and is surging. Also, China is still huge and now considered stable. Other Asian
countries are also doing well, so that the USA high market valuation stocks are
still participating in a highly positive world economy.
You
might have thought that liberals would like the current
Free Range White House.
One
thing for sure, the new instant connection technology
and map apps has assured that all of those wonderful, quiet, out of the way
places will be gone forever. I guess the future for pure uninterrupted
relaxation will be sitting in a Lazy boy with Virtual reality equipment clamped
to your head. How disgusting.
Speaking
of Lazy Boy, I still can’t get over how low
journalism has sunk with that Newsweek cover about Trump.
I
was listening to Classic Country the other day, you
know the music genre with lyrics that can make you feel you are there, in some
bar or sittin’ on a curb waitin’ to see your lost love again. In the Ronnie
Milsap song “That Girl who Waits on Tables”, you can feel the sadness in the
lonely guy watching his ex picking up tips, as he muses, “That girl who waits
on tables used to wait for me at home. And she waited until all the love was
gone. I’m too late, but still worship the floor she’s dancin’ on. I see her
playing that old juke box with their dimes. It’s a song about a fool who did her
wrong. And I’ll wait for her again until closing time. But, when she goes home tonight,
I’ll be alone.” There’s something about classic country, the steel guitars the plaintiff
fiddles, the soulful yearnings -- but mostly, it’s the words.
Somehow
sausage is just the perfect complement to a cup of rich
black coffee, and the start of a good morn.
Where
are you now, Simon Bolivar. About 203 years ago today Bolivar
was leading the forces in the Venezuela War of Independence. All that hope held
by all those hearts of good people seeking freedom for foreign oppression, now
dashed beneath the heavy boot of a tyrant. Wars of independence should never be
forgotten, should they?
Obviously
the left and some in the middle just hate Trump and
there is no way that he will ever convince them to change or at least soften
the acrimony. There’s also a lot of people who totally dislike his personality,
but want him to succeed for what they see as good for positive change. And of
course, there are those who really truly like everything about hm. But my sense
is that the fiercest anger is not necessarily about him, but that he is used as
symbol for the unbridled hate that comes with disappointment -- they are 100% against
any policies at all that smack of conservativism. They have already seen him
place a good Supreme Court Justice on the bench, and they fear there could be more
during the next 3 and one-half years. They dislike the regulations he is
unwinding, and his pushing HealthCare repeal and Tax reform. They want the
pipeline closed and Planned Parenthood centers open. Oh, he does give them
ammunition that their friends in the media can exploit and exaggerate. But all
in all, it‘s about the gains social progressivism made under Obama being
dramatically cut back in just six months. That’s why there is so much anger. It’s
not about Trump, it’s about getting back on the road to socialism.
Who
are Chris Platt and Anna Faris and why should I care*
that their marriage is over after 8 years? The bigger questions is why is it a headline
up there with that about the North Korean crisis? *Other than the fact that I
am a sensitive human being.
The
way people are giving in to being monitored electronically
and otherwise, I suspect we will soon see signs, “No unleashed humans allowed
in the park” And, you know what comes next.
There
is no question that Usain Bolt is one of the all-time
greats. But as most who breathe know by now he decided at the ripe hold age of
30 that he would run his last race. It was yesterday, and all expected another
victory for the master. Ironically, he was surprisingly beaten by a guy named
Gatlin, who was 35 years old!! Maybe Gatlin is on the Tom Brady diet.
Do
you know what bothers me? It’s the way sports journalists headline
Hall of Fame Induction stories, selecting the name of one or two to feature,
when it is the entire class that should be saluted equally. But, that’s what
media does these days, tries to influence personal opinions.
In
answer to a question about the value of organic foods,
a local columnist-Doctor says that basically “organic” is not worth the extra
money. He noted that also Organic farming does permit the use of selected pesticides.
One of them is copper sulfate, which he says is considerably more toxic than,
for instance, Roundup. He also noted that pure organic farming can contribute
to bacteria development. He does add that all farmed products should be washed thoroughly
to minimize any risks that may occur as result of farming practices, whether
normal or organic. BTW, regular farmers have developed a lot of evidence that
shows their products as healthy or healthier than organic. There are two sides
to many stories, we just don’t hear them all.
The

The
old goose waddled into the stock exchange this morning,
flapped its swings a few times and the momentum continued.
