Tension Oozing

Today's Tids Issue 3975
For Orange and Red:

I’m sitting up here this cool morn in tranquil Stowe Vermont, the sun rising over the mountains. Not a breeze is blowing nor a voice being heard. I’d love to send this peace throughout the world.

I hope I can be the Autumn leaf,
Who looked at the sky and lived.
And when it’s time to leave,
Gracefully it knew that life was a gift.

Considering Harvey and pals and the spotlight shown on real abuse, maybe it’s the cheerleaders who should be taking a knee at football games.

In case you may have forgotten, today is National Gin and Tonic Day. How great is that – one last homage to the summer.

Don’t let the limes rot in the refrigerator. They smell funny

The report out of yesterday’s NFL league/Union meetings said that they didn’t talk much about the Knee. BS. In a JD Power survey of people who have given up watching NFL football, 26% say it was because of Players insulting America; 24 % who are tied of watching players accused of off-field problems like drugs, domestic violence; 24 % because of longer in-game delays for penalties and video reviews; 20% because there are too may commercials.

The Question:
What were French protestants called?

Army people are not very happy the with the Tids after the editors omitted going after Boe Bergdahl. My friends who have guarded us well over the years remind me that Bergdahl was deserter/traitor through and through, and I should not let the media get away with softening his image, while dismissing Obamas returning 5 Islamic prisoners captured during bloody battles. There are no extenuating circumstances surrounding this one, they say. He pleaded guilty because he was guilty, plain and simple.

I just drove for 3 and ½ hours through four New England states including the fabled New Hampshire and Vermont, and saw, 7, count em’, 7 truly colorful trees. But that’s ok with me. Peepers crowd the roads.

A European traveler sends me a note saying that they had to leave Brussells early before massive labor a strike, and are hoping to get through Spain before as civil war breaks out. Sounds like fun.

Periods, Don, it’s periods. The president just has to learn that a period at the end of a complete sentence with a complete thought means, stop talking. For one thing, thinking of a media who hates him, out of the blue, off the cuff, rarely accurate statements just feeds the press eager to find fault where ever it can. And it doesn’t help with integrity for the really important stuff.

Chefs, they say, like Tilapia because it is neutral in the taste  department. Why would anybody like to eat something that tastes neutral? Tilapia, fish for people who hate fish.

Now, what doesn’t taste neutral at all is German food. Why aren’t there more German restaurants in the USA? That’s criminal.

The Answer:
The old French protestants were known as the Huguenots.

That little poem above about a leaf was sent in this morning by a good reader. How did he know I was in leaf country? OooooWeeeeOoooo. There is something weird going on among Tids readers. Can you feel it.
