Today's Tids Issue 4,454
Can we exult yet?
The good news about
the Stock market is that there is plenty of money on the sidelines, mainly there
because of the record highs that diminished the number of value stocks. It
appears that once the shock of this historic predictor wears down, there is
enough resources to keep the momentum going for a while. And remember, the days
before September have a way of being more volatile.
There are two ways to be fooled:
One is to believe what isn’t true. The second is to refuse to believe what is
true.
Protectionism is a bad idea
in a Global economy. We would all be much better off bolstering the economies
of Europe and Asia. Now, with China there are other predatory concerns, but it’s
impact on production and consumption can not be ignored.
Where is
Ghislaine Maxwell?
The Question:
Name five of the performers at the original
Woodstock.

With interest rates still at
all-time lows, there is really little that the Fed can do to stabilize a declining
stock market.
From Russia via a reader:
To praise politicians for being able to fix roads, buildings, from the money of
the state is like clapping for an ATM when it gives you your money.
First it was water balloons,
and now it is bullets. And police are wantonly being killed at a rate that I
have never seen. Ever. Some big politicians appeared amused when juvenile delinquents
flaunted the basic rules of a civilized society and taunted and the harassed law
officers who had to turn the other cheek; officers there only to protect their
neighborhoods. And now, the lack of respect, and disregard of abuse by politicians,
turns bloody.
If you can count
your money, you don’t have a billion dollars.
Meanwhile, 50 years ago today,
thousands gathered together on a soggy field in upstate New York for the most lauded
spontaneous music extravaganza, perhaps, in history. Now they want to recreate
the day, but you can never reproduce rabid impulsiveness, regardless of new technology
or intense desire. It has to arise in the hearts of the people.
One major aspects of this proposed cease
fire pact with the Taliban is a promise that the Taliban
will “not let Afghanistan be used to plot international militant attacks.” Say
what? A promise from the Taliban! C’mon.
Remember the old adage
-- give them an inch and they’ll taka mile. Today do-gooders are giving out too
many inches.
Some people treat the inscription at
the base of the Statue of Liberty as an amendment to the constitution. It’s a poem. Yes, a poem with nice feelings, but
still a poem.
I received note from a reader yesterday thanking
me profusely for reminding you all about the ease of reading this mess on-line.
He said that he prefers the color and pictures over the black and white email.
I will be repeating the following all this week, knowing that many of you just
don’t have the time to read every issue: [Note: I get reader
emails from time to time saying they didn’t get a Tids issue and it ruined
their day! (They didn’t really say that.) But, it is a fact Tids get lost or
excommunicated by the internet morality powers. So, when missing a Tids, go to
worldviewetc.blogspot.com, and enjoy without interruptions.]
How to make a million dollars
in the stock market: Invest two million.
One thing that an astute Tids
reader is sure of, is that as he watches this generation try to rewrite
history, it will be misspelled and have no punctuation.
In our new nothing-ever-surprises-me-anymore
world, you may have heard that Ohio State University wants
to trademark the word “The “. That would make it tough writing The Tids. And,
how would The Taliban react? And the silliness goes on.
Did you know that you can get “Fixer
Upper” mortgages? Yes, the FHA offers mortgages that cover
the home cost, and repairs.
As the skies over Wal Street gray
we have one thing to look forward to -- Trumps overwhelming desire to get re-elected.
Dems are loving this downturn, but the Trumpster is probably looking to dig
down deep to reignite the appearances of a strong economy. That would entail suppressing
tariff attacks on countries and easing trading restrictions. It’s much like the
Congress, seconded by Trump’s approval, to add tons of debt to forestall budget
deadlocks and government shutdowns until, they are all re-elected again in
2020.
The Answer:
The huge Woodstock music fest had a total of 32
great acts. Richie Havens opened it up, and Jimi Hendrix brought down the drenched
curtain. In between the audience soaked and high heard it all – Joan Baez, Arlo
Guthrie, Crosby Stills and Nash, Joe Cocker, Blood Sweat and Tears, Country Joe
McDonald, Grateful Dead, CCR, Janis Joplin, The Who, Sly and the family Stone,
Ravi Shankar, Sweetwater, Tim Hardin, Santana and 15 more. A lot of people relive
those moments very day.
Spontaneity
often produces special moments, except when the stock market unexpectedly crashes.
I think
we are going to be alright – for a while.
