Today's Tids Issue 4,455
No sweat:
Lately I’m
becoming rhapsodic
Over broiled, fresh haddock,
Bathed in nectar of the udder
Better known as sweet butter.
Add if you so please
A little lemony squeeze,
Or for your life-span loss
A douse of rich Newburg sauce.
Yes, I’ve become an addict
For this luscious fish, haddock
Unless of course there’s some Cod,
Or the chef’s calling haddock, Scrod!
There is always something
a little fishy about the Tids, but today I thought I’d be blatant about it. I
hope openness catches on and you’ll all be hooked. Unlike newspapers, The Tids
won’t be scaling back, unless Ohio State gaffs the word “The”. Well, that’s the
line I’m casting and I hope to continue to reel you in.
I think we will survive
this market interruption.
Does anybody really ever listen
to protestors anymore, other than friends and family, and like protestors. Everything
in America at some point gets overdone, and now it appears to these dulled
receptors that protestation is just another one of those trends set to
disappear into the deep blue sea wearing cement shoes.
There are all kinds of sports
standings which are followed by millions across te world. But, one of the most
intriguing games is the race for the Dem Nomination. There are 21-22 voices shouting
over one-another for attention, but all of a sudden it is narrowing rapidly. The
new Fox News Poll has Biden in front with 32%. The big news in the poll reported
last night is the meteoric rise of Elizabeth, up 13 points to 20%. Her significant
increase came at the expenses of the rapidly fading Bernie now at a mere 10%. Kamala
is at 8%. Those are he front runners far ahead of Booker, Buttigieg and Yang at
3%; Klobuchar and Beto at 2%. I guess the spirit of Williamson is drifting away
somewhere.
Note, the same Fox poll reports
that Trump would lose by a wide margin to all four of the above, with Biden
beating The Prez 50-38, Bernie winning 48-39, Elizabeth 46-39 and Kamala 45-39.
The President had better get that stock market moving upward again. But then,
markets have never been about wishing-it-so. They have minds of their own.
The Question:
Who were the two world leaders sending and receiving
the first telegraph message transmitted over the first trans-Atlantic cable? Bonus:
Ringo Starr replaced which original Beatle’s drummer?’

Has Peter Navarro become
Trump’s Rasputin?
Did you see where the President is
finally explaining his providing some details of his Green policy – Yes, he’s pushing
to buy Greenland from Denmark for a boatload of greenbacks. It would be the new
headquarters for ICE.
A completed jigsaw
puzzle is a pieceful solution.
Personally,
I didn’t think July felt any warmer than any other July in Summer. And August
has definitely felt cooler than I remember Augusts. But then, I live in a place
that is generally cooled by Ocean breezes. So, what do I know I live in a skewed
location?
What do you think are
the chances that President Trump will becomes more outrageous as the race draws
closer? OMG, did I just use the word “race” in the same sentence with Trump?
Will The Tids be banned?
Forbes has reported the wealth of 2020 candidates
with Trump leading at $3.2 billion followed by Tom Steyer at $1.2 Billion. The
next three in the richest 5 are John Delaney at $200 Mil, Michael Bennett at 15
Mil and Elizabeth the Warren at $12 Million. The least wealthy of the Dems are
Tulsi Gabbard ($500K), Tim Ryan ($500K) and Pete Buttigieg ($100K). It looks like
graft doesn’t pay well in Indianapolis.
China’s
giant eCommerce company Alibaba reported incredibly strong earnings last night.
This is significant because that company must battle within the apparent turmoil
of China’s slowing economy and the current trade war syndrome. Yet, it keeps on
showing up as one of the best managed most competitive companies in the new
digital world. So while the skies look grey hovering above a generally negative
global economy, business today lie Alibaba are more resilient and flexible enough
[ to sustain themselves during financial panics. The Baba example, to me, means
that recessions could become milder snd shorter than those the past.
The real issue affecting
recessions for the next generations will be the ability of people to find jobs
in the artificial intelligence future.
Spell-Cheick
will get better when begins to understand the wording of puns.
If you are interested in converting
to Roth IRA’s, I’ve been advices that it is good to do it when the market’s tank,
ad especially now when tax rates are lower. If, that is something you were wrestling
with. (BTW, when I mention some financial opinion, its always incredibly smart
to consult your own guru before proceeding.)
[Note: I get reader emails
from time to time saying they didn’t get a Tids issue and it ruined their day!
(They didn’t really say that.) But, it is a fact Tids get lost or
excommunicated by the internet morality powers. So, when missing a Tids, go to
worldviewetc.blogspot.com, and enjoy without interruptions.]
Reading Between the Liens Movie Reviews:
--The Kids movie of the week is The Angry Birds
Movie2. Bird and Pig Island is in danger and the inhabitants forge a truce to stand
together in an effort to save their homes. Good fun.
--The incomparable Cate Blanchett in the comedy “Where’s
you go, Bernadette” is a mom who seeks to reinvigorate her own creativity after
spending her life raising her family. She takes a leap of faith leading to an classic
adventure toward discovery. Probably a little overwrought, but will be liked by
those who loved the bestselling book, ‘Where you go”.
--In “Blinded by the Night”, a young Pakistan music fanatic
discovers Springsteen’s catalogue, “The Boss”. The music and words spur him to wonder
if he can escape for his run-down hometown and typical cultural life’s rule.
Can he also be Born to Run? This could be a winner for most.
Good Boys seems to be a fun teen caper where a 12 yo
boy invited to his first Kiss-the-Girls party worries that he doesn’t know how
to kiss. To learn, he and his teen appropriate Dad’s drone to spy on a teen couple
making out. However, the Done is destroyed.
To replace it before lovable old Dad gets home, the boys take off on a journey
full of bad decisions. This another film that seems better than some.
The Answer.
The first intercontinental telegraph was between
England’s Queen Victoria and the US President James Buchanan. In case anybody is
wondering what Buchanan actually did in his term. Bonus: Pete Best was the
original Beatles drummer. You all probably knew that. I just like testing your memories
from time to time.
Some writers to day often
use the following to describe moms and wives: “…after spending years sacrificing
herself for her family…”. Sacrificing? Loving children and a husband is a sacrifice?
I can deal with
changing technology, but it is some of this attitudinal change that has me
flummoxed.
Have a great Weekend,
E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
