Today's Tids Issue 4,451
I like simple:
This was one
of those cool, soft breezy early mornings with deer standing in broad green fields,
looking back with big brown eyes at humans yawning and stretching; welcoming a
new day.
True events can make
better reading than novels, but nobody would believe it.
Since when did bra straps
become a fashion accessory for tank tops? Talk about disappearing scenic America.
For many years
I have been talking up some kind of green card-work permit system for southern
neighbors. It seems like a reasonable alternative, economically and humanely. Right
now, you have those entering illegally and those hiring them both as unlawful.
What good is that?
My computer
has been flooded with many Epstein conspiracy theory cartoons and memes. Some are
very funny, I guess depending on which side of whatever you are on.
There are some weekends
when I spend most of my waking hours trying to determine a good time to eat Utz
dark russet potato chips without feeling guilty.
The Question:
For what roles is Angie Harmon best known? Bonus:
Who was the president who first named Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and
who was that first Chairman? Extra Bonus: We haven’t had the “Who are
these People” “Q” for months now. (As you know, this is a list of supposed celebrities
not recognizable to me, but who I often find are people a have seen in films and
on TV). Anna Gunn, Embeth Davidtz, Ashly Jensen, Nigel
Harman, Merritt Weaver and Chris Hemsworth.

You know,
I think that what let things in America go so well for so many years was an innate
senes of trust that the government would work and that we all living in the
fifty, despite some differences were pretty much on the right side of right and
wrong. But, now with the tsunami of information from the new digital world, it
is just hard to have that same sense of comfort comes from trust. That everybody’s
honest and moral and caring. That all Americans believe as one in the historic
greatness of the country; that this base of unified confidence will keep us
strong and moving forward.
It has been written
that common among mass murderers is a total disregard for the respect of human
life. This should not be startling, in a country where a raging battle is about
“Choice”.
I’m so old
that I can remember when a million dollars meant something.
Let’s hear it for the Little League
teams that this past weekend made it to the LL World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
This is a big deal. The US winners by region: New England – Barrington RI; Great
Lakes – Bowling Green Ky; Mid-Atlantic – Elizabeth NJ; Midwest – Coon Rapids
Minn; Northwest – Salem OR; Southeast – South Riding, Va; Southwest, -- River Ridge
La; West – Wailuku, Ha. The International teams are South Chungcheong Korea,
Cronulla Australia, Coquitlam Canada, Willemstad Curacao, Bologna Italy, Chufu
City Japan, Maracaibo Venezuela and Guadalupe Mexico. Get out your local pennants
and start cheering.
BTW, up here we are
quite proud as this is the 5th year in 6 that RI has had a team in
The LLWS. It’s a good way to forget about politicians, and think about what we
can do so well without hem.
Of course,
the politicians will suddenly appear and take the credit.
Do you think they will place Epstein
Co-Conspirator and functioning Madam Ghislaine Maxwell in the witness
protection program?
The Tids Resident Scientist
and professor of rare knowledge adds factual insights to the Tids’ Friday list of
non meat or fish proteins. 3 oz servings of Chicken, Steak and Turkey (The three
highest) have protein values of 28, 26, and 25 grams. They also produce
calories of 141, 158 and135 respectively. The highest fish protein producer is
Salmon at 22 with 155 calories. Shrimp is 22 with 101 calories. On the non-meat/fish
side, 3 oz of Pinto beans is the best protein source of a lackluster lot at 11,
with a calorie count of 197! The trendy Quinoa provides 4 grams of protein and
111 calories. After Pinto beans, the highest calorie producers are Wheat
Berries (151, Adzuki Beans 147 and Chickpeas at 134, offering but 6, 9, and 7 grams
of protein respectively. Just in case you are interested. All proteins are not created
equally.
You know, I am far from being
a great musician (Or even an ordinary one) or having much technical knowledge
about the intrinsic structures of it, but I have feelings about great music. If
you get into Edward Elgar symphonies, you experience an overwhelming sense of
what I call musical swells, where chords of majesty have a way of awing, in the
soft Elgar way.
I remember how in the last Admin
when Obama said something about banning guns, gun sales would go through the
roof. I was wondering after reading that the AMA now says coffee is bad for
you, if it is standing-room-only in coffee shops. One last cup before I ban myself
from the comfort and comradery of a brewed brood.
I know my glasses
are getting dirty when I can see better without them.
Move over Tom Brady.
Atlanta Hawks 42-year-old Vice Carter will be suiting up for his 27th
NBA Season tis September. I wonder what he eats?
A guy once said to me
that he didn’t watch local newscasts because local new people weren’t sophisticated
enough. I said to him, “But, national news sucks”. Irrational elitism has
always bothered me.
Does my disinterest
in Mexican food make me xenophobic? Of course not. It’s just boring food.
So, did you hear about
the guy who his golfing friends called Bacall? It was because they always associated
him with Bogie. Thanks, “Shoe”!
Kudos to Tids!
An observant reader wrote to say on Friday that the last issue of the week was practically
typo free! Yay, my mind! Typoless Tids are a long-term objective of this chronicler.
Ever since the Trump-Baltimore
Bru-ha-ha-ha, health officials have been looking more closely at tracking data for
rat complaints in various American cities. It seems infectious diseases are up.
Chicago is way ahead in complaints at 40K. Baltimore had but 4,476, while DC
down the road had 5,715. (In 2018 – Last full year counts). NYC is lower but of
the five boroughs, Manhattan is the highest. This is surprising considering the
high cost of rent, say scientists.
Is the new Dem strategy
focused on causing a recession? Bill Mahr is saying that is the way to beat Trump
for sure. And, he is Trying to recruit prominent Dems to join in the madness. Yikes!
What has this nation become. Make American minds healthy again.
The Answer:
No, Angie Harmon isn’t Mark Harmon’s sister. She
began her trek to notoriety as a child model and then onto some big days in high
fashion magazines. But she is best known as ADA Abbie Carmichael in Law &
Order. She had many roles in many failed series until She became Detective Jane
Rizzoli in Rizzoli & Isles. Her first TV role that brought her some attention
was in Baywatch Nghts. I get her mixed up with Sela Ward. Bonus: Harry Truman
named the first JCoS and General Omar Bradley was it. Extra Bonus: Anna
Gunn is best knowns Skyler White in Breaking Bad. You all knew that! Her
other recurring roles were on The Practice and Deadwood. Embeth Davidtz
had several prominent movie roles in films like Schindler’s List, Fallen, The
Gingerbread Man and Mansfield Park, but, you may remember her as the as Rebecca
the wife of Lane Pryce in Mad Men. Americans may remember Ashly Jensen
as Christina McKinney in Ugly Betty, but this Scottish actress has earned many British
acting awards, including one for her role with Ricky Gervais in Extras. Another
Brit, Nigel Harman is well known as the heartthrob in BBC’s soapy East
Enders. He was Mr. Green in Downton Abbey. Merritt Weaver won an Emmy for her role
of upbeat Zoey Barkow in Nurse Jackie. In fact, she is a woman of many Acting
awards including for great performances in Netflix “Godless”, Studio 60 on the Sunset
Strip, The Walking Dead and New Girl. Wow! It seems I should know more about
her. Chris Hemsworth has been good in many films but may be best known for a
his role as Thor in the Marvel comics series. There isn’t enough room for all of
his achievements. Let’s just say that he is always on Forbes List of the Highest
Paid Celebrities. Last year he made $76.4 Million and ranked 24th. He
must be doing something. But, you all probably knew this.
Yesterday it was announced that Miley
Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had split. Maybe air head Miley
was thinking she had wed his brother Chris and just found out the difference. Which
reminds me that pictures of celebrities having fun on tropical islands are a pretty
sad commentary on American culture. They
make me feel good about myself sitting at home feeling guilty about eating Utz
dark russet potato chips.
