Today's Tids Issue 4,881
The new plague:
How many old guys are sitting around these days wondering why they or their parents never saved the 1938 Superman Action Comics #1? One of the estimated 100 copies that are left just sold for $3.2 Million. Think of all the decisions we have made at various crossroads of life.
The grandchildren who were the beneficiaries of their grandparent’s fortune in gold bars were instant Bullion-heirs.
Did you know you can go on line and find meditation music specific to various debiases like cancer, kidney disease pulmonary diseases et.al. Better than a scalpel or worse.
I still have a lot of CD’s I bought at Lechmere. Remember Lechmere? It was a great New England discount store brought down by being sold too many times to too many companies, the last being Montgomery Ward which went entirely bankrupt taking Lechmere with it overnight. One owner was Dayton Hudson which is now Target. When I think of it, Target has many of the qualities that I liked about Lechmere. Oh well, It isn’t coming back. If it did, Amazon would buy it.
Hypocrisy abounds in America today. But you definitely get the feeling the general national tenor is, “Yeah, but that’s my hypocrisy.” So, that makes it ok. Except for millions of people with logical, rational minds who are ready to jump off high cliffs.
The Question:
Name words with three sets of double letters. Bus: Name the Five French Mother sauces?

A good friend of mine pointed out that all planes have a left wing and a right wing. But all the people who count are in the middle. The wings are always o the outside looking in, but have enormous sway of the decisions of the people who always thought they were safely tucked away in the middle.
I used to think the perfect lunch was two White Castle cheeseburgers and several handfuls of Cape Cod original Potato chips. But in order to get healthier, I’m replacing Cape Cod chips with Utz Ripples.
I watched the Masters intently yesterday and last night I was equally rapt with the Food Networks’ “Tournament of Champions” cooking competition. . I like competition in sport and other TV programming. This Food Championship is exciting and very tough on participant. Most are thoroughly exhausted after each round. They are down to the quartet finals now, and the competition has been tough every step of the way. A highlight last night was an incredible tie after a grueling battle between the popular Antonia Lofaso and Jet Tila. Now these two chefs will have a playoff off to open next Sunday’s 2-hour multi match count down show to the champion. Wil be a fun night. I think it is good TV and you may learn a little about cooking along the way.
The first line of today’s newspaper report on the Masters tournament was, “Hideki Matsuyama could be the first Asian to ever win the Masters”. If you want unity, forget about the identity separations. Hideki has been a great player here for and has won tournaments for years. For a series of 7 holes yesterday he was a pure magician. And rightfully applauded for his golf wizardry. How about Jorden Spieth, for instance – “First white man with ancient ties to many princes and many tribal conflicts in Bavaria comes back to win Masters after spending 3 years in the psychological dumpster.”.
Let’s get back to sports.
Does anybody have more energy than Guy Fieri?
George Walker a black American classical composer has a beautiful piece called “Lyric for Strings”. He won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Music. It’s amazing what is stowed away on all those CDs I have.
Joe B has begun the court packing process. Or maybe by his action Friday establishing a new government committee to look at revising the Supreme court, he is just going through the motions to appease the spoiled child left wing. He says it will be bipartisan which is quite odd to hear considering his record so far. Now here’s what I don’t get: The SC, President and Congress are three co-equal and separate branches of the government. And now because the Dems have experienced a few constitutional legitimate changes they don’t like, the USA all of a sudden has terrible court system. Remember that the Repubs had to wait all these years from the eye-opening moment in 1973 when lawmaking by the Dem controlled SC ran amok.
It is looking like entertainment reorganizations which are morphing into things like the paid Discovery Channel for future revenue streams is over time going to leave free TV high and dry. It appears that the big names may now be exclusive to this mega streamer amalgamation. Will this be making Regular free TV the farm system, minor developmental leagues? Looks like it. [Discovery Channel is the combination of TV channels HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Animal Planet, OWN, A&E, Lifetime, History, Travel, SciFy, DIY, and the Dodo (Whatever that is.) Channels]
To me, Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi taste much better in plastic glasses than in glass s glasses. Or is that glass plastics.
Tucker Carlson for President. A last He would have interesting Press Conferences.
In 1983 while speaking on the Senate floor, Joe Biden said about FDRs’ court Packing attempt, “It’s a bonehead idea.”
The Answer:
A lot of “ness” words have triple doubles. Like Stubbornness, Heedlessness, Woodenness or Possessiveness. Others are Committee, Mississippi, Successfully, Tallahassee, Tennessee and Whippoorwill. Bonus: The 5 “mother sauces” upon which all other sauces are built are Hollandaise (Eggs, Butter, Lemon Juice), Bechamel (White sauce of Butter, Flour and Milk), Velouté (Butter, Flour, Chicken or Fish Stock), Espagnole (Beef or Veal stock, tomato puree and mirepoix; thickened with dark brown roux- Most known as Bourguignonne) and Sauce Tomat (Tomato sauce).
I have learned that as you recede into later life, you can’t take life off. The world doesn’t stop because you decide to slow down.
